What I mean is, Joe, share your secrets to marriage contentment. Nancy's right - you do have some great insight. You're who I meant when I said "professional husband." Meaning you're good at it through years of experience! Ah, I should have read all the recent posts before writing that one - you DID share your insight! Bravo! Sometimes, no matter how much you want to honour the commitment Bill, it just has to end. I was physically, mentally and emotionally at risk for 30 years before I walked out of my marriage. By then, one of my 4 children was 18 and the other 3 were in their 20s. It was the hardest decision I'd ever made in my life, but it was also the best and I've never regretted it. I didn't ask for anything. I requested no financial support at that time or any time after. As a matter of fact, I sent him money for the first year to help him adjust to a one income existence. I took only enough belongings that I wouldn't have to sleep or eat on the floor. The first year was the most horrendous year of my life and it was only the counselling and the support of good friends that helped me survive all that followed...including personal bankruptcy. It took some time, but eventually my ex got the help he needed and was able to overcome many of his issues. We have managed to build a strong friendship which has lasted and we've been apart almost 12 years now.

Besides, after 30 years, you certainly couldn't say you didn't hang in there and try!

I think I may have mentioned before that I'm not a big chocolate person, but....this past New Year's Eve was the first time I ever tasted a dark chocolate truffle and now I'm afraid to buy them because I'd probably eat the whole package in one sitting!

When Al says "shoo-ing out" he means that literally. Al will not kill anything! I've seen him spend 15 minutes trying to get a spider onto a piece of paper so he can carefully put it outside.

Mmmmm. I think I will refrain from any more comments about how I handle these things.

The last thing I do before I leave the house in the morning, is make sure I put beers in the fridge for Al so they're cold when he gets home from work! Heck...when I met him, he drank it room temperature out of the case. Putting it in the fridge was a LOT of work. Poor guy.

Must be something very wrong with my family as the four kids smash every bug in sight. Could be that living in the bug capital of the world has something to do with this habit. Can't find a smashed bug simile; Damn! Maybe I should not laugh when my five years old walks around outside with a tennis shoe in her hand looking for prey.
