2006 Grillet...it's outstanding, in a great place. Shame this has gone up in price so much, used to be reasonable, but now it's gone way way up :(

Awesome, I don't have any older vintage PM, just stuff from about 2007 on. The bordeaux blends are all sleeping :) Glad to see they're ageing well.

Had some good ones over the weekend. Brought an 09 Silver Oak and a Prisoner to a BYOB Saturday night. Sunday night cooked in and finished off the Prisoner and had a 13' Clos du Val (first time I've had it).
Great weekend, hope you all enjoyed yours as well ![]() ![]()

Simply...The Wine Thread
I'm a bit biased. Just picked up the labels and will be bottling next month. It's been on French oak for 18 months. It has an amazing nose, inky black color and a surprisingly soft finish.
![]() ![]() I also just finished up a port comprised of 5 Portuguese varietals and some left over Zinfandel for fruitiness. I'm currently cold settling it and will be putting it on oak shortly for the next 12-16 months. ![]() I also have a Petite Sirah finishing up Malolactic right now which will also be going into oak soon.

That's a tough drink. Unless they have been refrigerated, whites tend to turn after about 2-3 years.

Wines like semillon change significantly with age and get a lot better. Same with a lot of grand cru chablis, drinking those young is heavy going due to use of new oak. Riesling can age for a long time too I recently had a bottle of Trimbach 1990 Clos Ste Hune and it was out of this world. |

Way different! Respectfully, the recent vintages have been koolaid with ridiculous RS. It's a manufactured wine these days, but the American palate loves sugar so more power to em. I'm a little inebriated, so I should probably get off my soap box ;)

Had a 12 Oakville Ranch Cab Franc and a 12 Turley Pesenti tonight. Both good, but the Cab Franc needed a few more years in bottle.
Sorry for my drunk ranting last night - I'm paying for it today! |

Gents, with regards to French whites and their ageability, I'd suggest you research "premox", which is short for premature oxidation. Major issue that affects a noticeable number of vintages, unfortunately.

"Blandy's Madeira"
Product of the Island of Madeira, Portugal. I have been a keen aficionado of fortified wines all my life. Australia makes some wonderful fortifieds but for a change I am drinking this one from Portugal, courtesy of my good mate Gary. Best with great crumbly cheeses, but tonight just a glass on its own. ![]()
