If I had the choice I'd probably go for Metallica and Iron Maiden instead of this band. I've been to a Maiden show once and really enjoyed it even if it wasn't quite my type of music (I almost saw them another time with Alice Cooper but it was the very night of my parents' 25th anniversary, I had to sell my ticket).

Regarding chores:
One of the kids in my sons group of friends is grounded. Seems he's always grounded but I won't go on about his mother here. The reason he's grounded is because he didn't do the dishes (his job in the house) and gave some back talk about it. So the kids are all chatting about what a complete bitch his mother is (true, but irrelevant to the story) and instead of piling on, Ethan just explained to them them that if his friend's job is to do the dishes, and he's going to catch hell for not doing them, then just do the job and stay out of trouble.'
Smart kid. I guess he's learned something.
Oddly enough his friend's think we're strict. I prefer to think we're 'Attentive'.

I like the metal. I'd really like to see Maiden someday but probably won't. It's ok, I have a greatest hits CD and that's ok.
Mayhemfest is a heck of a show. I'd been 3 years in a row but missed the last 2. 15+ bands on 3 stages. All day long until late at night. If you get the chance to go - don't miss it.

Great story! I must say I had quite a strict education from my parents and although I've been a relatively calm teenager (which isn't very normal...can you believe it? I listened to my parents and all...) there was times when I thought they exaggerated on some things. Nowadays I am proud of what I became and am glad my parents never gave up and raised us properly, not only do I get compliments on my manners and my politeness from times to times but I'm also very glad I didn't end up being an arrogant brat like other people I see in my life or, worse, end up very badly because my parents would never help me out. They were strict at times but always loving and they were always there to help us when we needed it, it's always a matter of balance and harmony.

I hope I'm not repeating myself too much here, seems like I talked about my parents before...am I getting senile...again!?

P.S.: The bold part of your paragraph made me laugh out loud!

As for Mayhemfest, is it some kind of a heavy metal festival? I've been to Heavy MTL once with a friend of mine, we were the only two guys not having a load of tattoos, piercings and clothes with skulls (not that there's anything wrong with that but we could be spotted from far, far away...) but the ambiance was unique! I remember seeing Slayer, Megadeth, Alice Cooper (my favorite of the night, his show was just great, very theatrical and burlesque) and Mastodon (another great group, surprisingly enough I enjoyed their songs). I know my brother went the year after to see Disturbed, his favorite band (which he saw in concert as well, he probably likes them as much as I like Clapton, Hendrix and Led Zeppelin).

How many times have you been to this festival?

Dan Spitz of Anthrax and Elliot Easton of The Cars were on another watch site that I go to. Haven't seen Dan Spitz around but as far as I know he gave up music for watch making and works in NYC as a watch maker. I used to PM with Elliot Easton a bit and he seems to be very nice and generous with his time.

Thank you kindly Dawna, let's just hope my head's size will be back to normal by tomorrow morning, I'm sure it can't get through the door frame right now!

Carl and Wes.....

I have a new song I'd love to hear Wes play... no pressure or anything... and actually, it's an OLD song... Gymnopedie number 3, by Erik Satie.

I'm about to throw a fit in the Rolex section over a comment that a wife was a terrible person for going to the Superbowl while her husband stayed home with the baby... don't let me go back up there, guys!

Random question: Why doesn't Rolex make sterling silver watches? Why only gold or stainless steel?

I polished my sterling labradorite ring today and it looks so bright and pretty. Why wouldn't that make a good metal for a watch case/bracelet?

I definitely look out of place there too. I don't wear a costume of skulls, dye my hair purple or try to look badass. I don't dress up in a pirate costume (leather, doo-rag, chains) at the motorcycle festivals either though. In contrast I prolly look nerdy and normal. LOL

Felt really lame doing this but I wanted the wrist shot.

Please Lisa, don't go back there!

Do you want me to describe you the poems I read to my girlfriend while giving her a foot massage? Would that help you to relax?

I would like to think that sterling silver may not be luxurious or tough enough as a metal but whether that's a part of the answer or not I'll assume that it's more related to the fact that sterling silver tarnishes. Rolex making watches that last for a very long time I think they'd rather go with alloys and materials that won't fade or get dirty colors over the years, hence the use of white gold or stainless steel.

Beautiful pictures Bill!

Good thing about those festivals is, people enjoy the music so much they don't care how you are dressed like, they just let you have your fun anyway!

As for your son enjoying rap now, it just leaves you a bigger share of metal!

I think she's trying to kill me with these sad songs. You know composing his Requiem Mass is what finally finished Mozart off. Are you sure it's not Gymnopedie number 1? I've heard of that one.

What about Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls. You want me to play that right.

As I understand it, there were three Gymnopedies. I'm pretty sure this is the third.

Sad? I dunno.... seems beautiful and haunting....

But you could play Goo Goo Dolls if you'd rather.

How are you feeling today?

That one sounds to me like No1 even though it says No3

On Piano No1 (Main theme)

No3 (variation)

Actually, No. 1 is the melody I'm thinking of. 3 is quite similar, though. I lurve music like that .... all noir and melancholy.....

I wonder if you have the full-blown flu, Wes. No CO on the monitor?

Ugh. I know. Some days I have to just step away from the computer. We used to have a gang of other really fun, articulate, smart gals who just couldn't stand it any longer....

However, our coffeeshop is always here.
