That sure sounds like a fun weekend for you, I'm glad to know the weather wasn't bad.

I worked this weekend so nothing very fancy on my side. I also have another plan in mind: trying to get down to 140lbs. Since last week I got down to 147, we'll see how this one helps my case (and especially my belly...), I have the idea of having some king of a lifestyle change, I'd like to eat less meat (which would be mostly fish) and be overall healthier. I am cutting junkfood again for now and the most greasy/sweet thing I'm getting is cheese and peanut butter for breakfast. I've also decided to cut down coffee to one in the morning and tea for the rest of the day. If you guys are interested I'll let you know how it goes.

By all means, Carl, keep us posted. Best wishes to you for success (but unless you're a small person, 140 pounds sounds awfully slim!)

Congrats on losing that weight Carl, know you've been trying really hard. 140 does sound quite light though, dunno your frame size. Women like to have something to hold onto, apparently

Those charts are out of date. I have had that talk with my Doc. According to those charts I am obese. But in reality I'm muscular. An NFL running back can be 5'10'' and 220lbs. Imagine him on that chart. I would look like a skeleton if I weighed what the chart says. Well, looking at it I'm 5'10" and 180 lbs, not too far off but I'm not a large frame.

I know what you mean Art. People say I'm slim, but I prob fall in at the top end of my range. Maybe a bit over.

My dad was in the hospital a few years back, and they had one of these on the wall next to his bed. His argument was he's just not tall enough.

I'm not sure how these charts can be out of date though?

That's funny, not tall enough. I have to remember that one. Look at the old movies from the 40's. Bogart, Stewart, Sinatra. People were very thin then. Those charts need updated. People were thin as well when I was growing up. There were not many overweight kids. Only one or two per school it seems. Now, in the USA it's terrible. One can notice nice slender, attractive middle age mothers with their very overweight daughters while out and about. You know it's not genetics.

Thank you Lisa! I am actually in between 5'7" and 5'8" so 140 wouldn't be too slim for me. I've been able to keep my weight for quite a few months since I told you guys about my diet but I'd like to really get rid of the belly I still have (or, perhaps, convert it into some of those fancy abs guys have nowadays...do you know where I could get some of those? :chuckle).

Well according to that chart I'm good but I could be a little lighter so I guess I'm not that bad!

I believe they probably added some factors to the way of interpreting your weight, could that be a possibility? I know I have looked online for my normal weight and all those calculators had a different way of doing it because for some of them I was spot-on and for some of them I was still overweight or borderline...

Here you go Carl, there's a machine you stick on your gut, and it works out for you, whilst you can just kick back, have a couple beers and watch the footy.

I admit it. I'm overweight. Fat even. If you ever see me at that weight, bring flowers because it won't be long.
Even in high school I was heavier than that and I was in real good shape then, worked out etc.

You might practice one hand at a time - first learn the left, then add the right. As a lefty, you'll find the motion appealing if you twist your wrist slightly left to the lower notes, then slightly right to the upper chord. (this is easier than holding your hand level and trying to move your entire arm) Familiarize your right hand with the melody, then combine hands.

Last trick: at first, play it slowly enough that you don't make mistakes. Muscle memory can work for you or against you...

I know what you mean, Art. I watched a Charlton Heston film with my girls the other night, and had to explain that he was considered "hunky". They're used to Vin Diesel...

Does it work if I'm not watching the footy?

Stuff: Mom is being moved out of a cardiac room to a regular one. Yay. Bob Ridgley gave me estimates on my watches. Expensive, but I hope it's worth it. And, I've got pinkeye and feel like I've flashed back to being 12 years old. Yow!!!

Hope y'all are doing well.

Mikki, that's good news about your mom. Are you both in the same town? My thoughts are with you and your mom for her speedy recovery.

Bob Ridley is well respected around here. Your watches are in good hands.

Hi Lisa. Mom is in NH, I'm in the DC area, but there are family up there in the frozen northland with her :-)

I got Bob's name from here and everyone says he's the best ever. I know he'll do a great job. He sent pictures of what was wrong with both the watches I sent. The movements themselves are pretty solid. yay!! I'll post the pix eventually since he said I could. I think I'll just snore away first :-) Long day.
