What kind of peppers are those?? They look really good!

This will clear things up. My 5 year old explains that the tooth fairy is the daughter of Santa Claus and their pet is the Easter Bunny. I'll have to ask her how Valentine's Day fits in.

They're called "sport" peppers, which I'd never heard of until I started researching Chicago Style hot dogs. Our butcher, who provided them, said they're similar to a pepperocini but aren't the same thing. I asked if I could substitute a slice of jalapeno and he just looked at me like I'd lost my mind.

I don't usually buy much in the way of pickles and peppers, but I'm going to start paying attention next time I'm at the store.

I never knew that. My best buddy's wife grew up on a huge ranch in Oklahoma. It stretches for many miles, they have something like 100,000 angus cattle. Maybe more I can't remember. When they were visiting once their son fell off the bed playing and broke his arm, the nearest Doc was too far away so a vet stabilized him until the next day that they could get into town.

Sounds like that might have been somewhere in the panhandle!

I'm a pickle/pepper freak...
I'll probably have to wait until I'm in 'the City' to find any sport peppers, though. lol

It's in the north I know and some of the land extends into Kansas. Amazing they ever met.

Maybe one of the huge ranches up in the northern part of the state, although there are some big spreads all around the state.

I can't swear I haven't been treated by a vet at least once. HA

Probably Drummond Ranch, 101, or Express Ranch(es)

Ha! I'll have to ask my meat guy where he gets them.

I think I'm missing out by not being a big pickle/pepper person. Now olives, however.... mmmm.

Just for fun, here's a video link to a story about my butcher. His daughter and my daughter are in the same grade at school and they play volleyball together. His wife is an absolute stitch and I really enjoy her... so I guess it's safe to admit I've a wee bit of a crush on Bill!

I've no idea what they're saying since I've turned off the sound (kids are in bed) but you get a nice view of the shop. Bill has since added the circa 1930s neon clock to the wall that used to hang in their old shop. When the clock stopped running they put it in storage - but my husband fixed it for them so now it's back in service.

Best ribeyes anywhere.

I'll have to ask. They were here in August. She went to OSU. I know she was glad to move away. Not because she doesn't like Oklahoma, it's that she was the only girl out of a handful of brothers and it was nothing but work and very male oriented. They now live in Pa.

D'oh. I thought King Ranch was in Texas.... I went to OSU with Genter Drummond. He was a big deal on campus, but I'd never heard of the Drummond family (though the Kerr-Drummond dorms were right across from my dorm). You know, being from The City and all.

King Ranch IS in Texas, Lisa...I meant the 101 and typed King for no reason whatsoever. LOL Although it is also huge.

There aren't many place like that anymore.

Kamp's is also known as the Ham Loaf Capital of the World. I have the tee shirt to prove it.

The only reason I thought King Ranch was in Texas is that I get their leather goods catalog. Otherwise I would have had no idea.

One thing lacking around here is good meat places. The meats around here are not that good. IMO. There are some really cool old crowded with stuff Hispanic stores that smell good inside though.
