I do wear it more than I thought I would, actually. It kinda spiffs up a plain t shirt & jeans, and I have worn it to some dressier 'cowboy formal' stuff, too.
I debated about getting it, but glad I did.

It's a beautiful authentic and good-quality Navajo bracelet. The artist stamp is C Chee, and Chee is a Navajo name, and there are other jewelers named Chee (one of whom is famous and very collected, Mark Chee). I don't know if your Chee is directly related to those others, but surely Navajo. And contemporary: there are a few other items by him findable by Google.

It has excellent silverwork, with that thick shank (band) construction of different joined sections, plus the neat applied florals and leaves and decorative bezel. What makes it spectacular is the slight domed shape of the stone and its apparently amazing matrix and coloring--it's huge and showy.

Navajo work is often massive like this. The only question I have is the stone. I'd like to see better and more dead-on pics. I can't quite tell if this is absolutely turq from these pics (there are other minerals related to turq that did get set in bracelets), or what type of turq. I'm curious. It's not fake stone, in any case.

If you hear movement/rattling it may mean the stone has some looseness from its backing. Mounted stones like this are not 100% turq all the way through--they're put on a backing of some kind and then set in the bezel setting, often with crumpled paper behind it. I bet it's something in there that's a little loose. But as long as it's still well grabbed by the bezel, it shouldn't come out.

Pretty!
WOW...THANK you, J!
Lots of great info that I had zero clue about.
I will take some stone close ups with my little ollo clip thingy for the iphone...it makes a macro lens from your regular phone camera. I forgot to mention that the brown parts of the stone, I can feel, sort of rough or raised, like on some of my other turquoise stones, but this looks a little different than anything else I have. More pics soon!
Thank you again, so much!

Without a tester kit J mentioned, the hallmarks are best. 925 as you said. English sterling silver has a Lion mark. Should also be other hallmarks, symbols showing date/city/maker. These will be worn down if old. Post up pics of the stamps.

Silver plated has little/no silver in, any peeling means plated.

Sterling tarnishes, has an orange tint, if you rub with a cloth, cloth should have black residue.

I would say sterling is not as cold to touch as plated or steel.

Picture frames/candlesticks are not solid all the way through anyways, sheets are used. So the silver value isn't much anyway. Gold prices are about 50x more than silver.

I'm sure you will meet some interesting people coming in too. Great idea about going through your mom's stuff....as long as there's nothing too sentimental to part with.

You'll have to take some pics of your shelves once they're stocked!

I've got a small old print, an old tablecloth and tea towel, a radio lamp with opalescent globe, a couple of cafe china and jadeite cups and saucers, and a ceramic art-deco deer figurine. Hubby has some guy things from the basement he's willing to let go of, too. He just hasn't decided what, just yet.
How'd I miss this??? Very cool! Good luck!!

I have been thinking the same. We update quite often and just give the stuff away, it's all in good condition, we just give to people that could really use it. Maybe another way to start a watch fund.

Mikki, must be difficult letting your daughter go. But I'm sure things will go well for her in Holland.

Mikki, having a daughter that age I feel your pain, trust me. But trust that you have raised her properly and that she will do the right thing. For her this must be a very exciting adventure and will really make her into a very responsible young lady.

Dropped her off around 4, drove back home, only to find that her fight from BWI to PHL was delayed so there was no way she would make her flight to Amsterdam. After about 20 phone calls back and forth, they were taking her to Dulles to catch an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin, THEN to Amsterdam. So the adventure hasn't started out too well.

I, on the other hand, am much more down than I thought I'd be. I'm sure I'll get over it soon.

I feel for you. I hope it all works out well and have a feeling that it will. But for the time being I know it's going to be hard to get used to. I wish you well with this.

Oh, dear, Mikki. I hope her luggage finds her at the end of the flights.

This has got to be so hard for you. I can't imagine yet the concept of these three children some day leaving home... but the thought of them venturing halfway around the world would be nearly impossible! At least you can maintain close contact, can't you? How is your daughter feeling about the adventure? Excited as can be?
