I remember when this thread started, foolishly didn’t read if after the first several posts.
Obviously, I was wrong to not continue back then. I read the whole thing last night. Totally epic story and one of if not the best threads on here. This is what TRF is all about and Steve, thank you for sharing this with us, you are truly an amazing person!

Steve, the way you discuss the expeditions and treks around the world in the thread made me remember why I fell in love with the Submariner when I was in high school. The use, purpose, and reliability of these watches is intoxicating.

When you spoke of the old Rolex advertisements that catered more to that philosophy I instantly was drawn back to the Comex and Trieste expeditions which I thought were so cool.

I’m going to put your book on my to-read list.

The quality of posts seemed a lot better on here a few years ago.

I've worn Rolex (Hulk and GMTc )all over the world from plus 50C in the Iraq desert to minus 40C in Yamal in the Arctic circle , I'm sure I've actually posted pics before but don't have them on my phone anywhere now.
These days I get nervous wearing my watches to the beach or pool
