Just got my watch back from service. It took around 3 months and that included watchmaker holiday.

The turnaround time is quite amazing. And they even return my crappy watch box =)

I should have bought this gem of a watch from FP in 1993. It sold for CHF 7.3m earlier at Phillips.

I use an inflation calculator from 2024 to 1993 based on the price of the vertical tourbillon today, and I derive $156k in 1993. However, given it was a souscription piece back then and he was relatively unknown then, it could be below $100k.

I would love to own this one. 38mm in a warm hue made by the man. This is so cool.

I read that most of his early pieces were under $100k hence my $70k guess

In either case, this is good news for the manufacture and all the independents

At Phillips Geneva later today, there are auction lots on Akrivia, Petermann Bedat, Sylvain Pinaud, Derek Pratt and Charles Frodsham. I think they will do well.

Many many years ago (I don't have the exact date). I know a collector who has this complete set and he got it from his AD when nobody wants Journe then.

hi all - seeking your expertise here as am new to the world of FPJ - considering getting a used 2004 rose gold resonance for a pretty good price.

however there is one potential issue - the original owner lost the card, and instead only has an archive extract now.

would this be a dealbreaker in your opinion? or okay as long as price is right?

thanks!

As long as you trust the seller, the best archive extract / COA is fine IMO. I had gone this route when i got my CB preowned in 2018.

If the condition is good and the price is right, it should not matter. You can send the watch back to service to make sure everything is in good order. The boutique does not care if you have the original warranty card for servicing and the cost is reasonable as far as high end watches go.

A fake Resonace will be a feat on its own

FP Journe Appreciation Thread, an Evolution.

I have to say I bought a CB with everything but papers and sent away for the COA from FPJ. It took a few months and cost $600. What I got back I thought was better than the original card as it appeared to have a wet signature from FP himself. Regardless, you should be paying less for a watch without card. Probably 10% less give or take. Possibly more on such an expensive piece.

Soonish. I got my 2024 allocation confirmation email Dec 11th 2023 and got my watch in early April 24.

For the US, I usually get an email to have me to confirm my interest for the following year in September/October and confirmation of allocation comes in late November to mid December.

Been waiting on an ARS2 since it was 38k. Probably should have gone grey but oh well. Thought that having just one model on my wish list would help vs others having half a dozen but maybe not

I watched the auction live online. It was pretty cool to see it in real-time. There was a Lapis Lazuli WG DJ that I was following, but it wound up going for $174,000 (including the hammer premium)! (Insane!)

I stopped by yesterday morning on the last day of the Geneva auction to see the watches for the upcoming New York and HongKong auctions too- these watches all converge in Geneva so it’s really cool.

Indeed there is a lot of excitement for Journe at this moment. There is a rumor that Zuckerberg bought the 15/93.

Was really fun seeing the excitement in the room and one of my friends brought his two tone R which I had the privilege to try on and inspect. Gorgeous.

Thanks all for the inputs - looks like there should be no issues in purchasing the Resonance without a card as long as there's a right discount!

Wanted to discuss the merits of the watch itself - for some reason I rarely see the Resonance RN in Rose Gold pictured in forums (e.g. here and watchprosite). Any thoughts as to why there seems to be less 'love' for this particular config? FWIW I tried it on along with a platinum RTA, I personally love the salmon dial more (despite being the same structure, the salmon dial seems more "Journe" due to the contrast).

And this particular piece has the 1499.2 which i understand is older and doesnt have the improvements of the 1499.3 - is this a cause for concern (i.e. more prone to requiring service down the line)?

Pics below!

Regarding rose gold. I think a lot of the Journe collector opted for platinum as the premium of pt over RG was quite small for Journe when compared to brands like Patek. There was even a YouTube video with Wei Khoi and Journe which they were joking about it. I was surprised when I first saw it myself. But this gap apparently is wider now.

fascinating! so i suppose it has nothing to do with RG being a less desirable config, but more about the PT configs being a much better value
