Is chrome considered a precious metal?

Finally a nice enough day outside (41*F) to install the chrome pieces I got for Christmas. There is a chrome cover for the radiator cap, chrome radiator grill and chrome radiator cover.
It looks much nicer than the plain old black painted metal doncha think?
I even got to throw a quick 10 miles on it before I got too cold.

The chrome looks excellent, Bill. Looks like you spent some time spiffing up the rest of the bike, too - very clean and shiny. I have a feeling you keep it always looking like that.

We took the Falcon downtown, got permission from the local pizza place to park outside their building, and sold Girl Scout cookies from the car. Phoebe and June arranged them across the hood, Dave brought folding chairs, and we had a great time people-watching along Broadway Avenue. Lots of people took pics of the car. Sold most of our cookies, too.

Art, I'd like a bowl of that soup about now - looks really good.

Thanks Lisa. Truth is the chrome isn't perfect. When I got the bike she had some pitting from being ignored for years in a garage on a beach in Florida. Salt air and all that. I spent a lot of time cleaning and polishing and got it as good as I could, but it's not perfect like it would be. Oh well. It's a rider.
That was a great idea for selling the girl scout cookies. Did you get any pics of the setup/display?

Sounds like fun, Lisa. I remember my days of sitting at stores selling the cookies. Always seemed to be my job, but I'm glad I did it. Never had a cool car though to help attract buyers. Thanks, the soup is good on cold days and today is just that.

Bill that is one sexayy ride.

Lisa, who could possibly have resisted that setup for the cookies...very stealthy there. I personally cannot be within 10 feet of Thin Mints. I don't have any idea how to not eat them all.

So what's a cold day in Orlando? 70s? It was 64 today - very pleasant for hanging around outside.

Selling cookies is actually quite fun... people love 'em.

Mm hmm. I understand about the Thin Mints. That's everyone's favorite. Hey, the boxes are small. I'm certain they are single-serving sized.

What year is the bike?

Nah, I didn't get any pics. Should have. I never think to do that.

Not sure we hit 60F today as a cold front passed through. 79F on Tues thankfully. I enjoyed my time doing things like that with my daughter when she was young. I took her to almost every dance class she had from age 3 through HS when she could drive. I wish she was that age again.

You'll have those good memories forever, Art. I'm reminded over and over to treasure every minute, and while at times it's not entirely practical to do so, it's something to strive for.

I have a feeling that you too will have many good memories. Even now I'm the one who gets the texts to listen to her drama.

It's a 1998 Honda Valkyrie (F6C in Europe)
http://www.motorsports-network.com/h...r/valktest.htm

I found it barely running with only 11,497 miles on it, fixed it, and last year put around 4K on it.

For American turquoise, unlike the turq from Persia/Iran, veining in turquoise is a very positive attribute. It's called matrix. But not all high-quality USA turq is veined dramatically. Some is, some isn't; it's all according to what's characteristic of a given mine. Morenci is a clear blue only rarely, and generally has matrix. What makes that cluster so spectacular is that matched set of stones, which is not easy to come by. And for American turquoise, most of the best material is exhausted, no longer being mined. A lot of great jewelry made now is using stashes of good old stones rather than currently available stones.

Okay just a couple more for now. One of my very best bracelets, by the mother of the woman who did the turquoise cluster. Lorraine Waatsa did the turq one. This is by her mother, Alice Quam, acclaimed Zuni artist who died in the early 2000s. My coral cluster from Alice.

And I say good night for now. :)
I really can't get over this coral cluster piece.

I think we're looking at King's Manassa, Royston, or Fox turquoise. I like the greenish cast to the stone, and the areas of rust color (indicating high iron content, which is what makes turquoise tend to green), and the very watery fine webbing (veining). Does the webbing seem almost navy blue in parts? That can happen if it's subjected to dyeing in order to color over naturally lighter areas. In any case, you might check online to see other pieces in these 3 turquoises, and see if one seems likely. Not guaranteed though, lol.

Really special stone there. You got a score!

Thanks, glad you liked my pics. I have some others I may add just for fun.
YES, DO !

You have certainly inspired me to do some more research and find out which mine this is from. It looks almost like a combo of the Royston and King Manassa...probably more like the latter, tho. More digging! btw, this came from an antique shop in Clovis, NM and the owner really couldn't tell me much about it at all. Just from the weight and style of it, I felt like it was at the very least a quality piece that I knew I would have fun wearing if nothing else.:-)
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it. :)

Clovis NM...well that would be a great place for searching out goodies. I'm so glad you like my coral cluster. I should post wrist shots at some point to show the impact. I will always love this piece.

I'll add a few little things: a Zuni cluster pin, vintage Navajo squash necklace in the Zuni style, and a 1940s Zuni child's squash blossom necklace. The last one, with the small leaf shapes, is much tinier than the adult size, wears almost like a choker.

Maybe, but we're sworn to secrecy. I think that's what "Scout's Honor" really refers to.

Pretty flowers.

Hope your day is good too, Art. I've got to run some mundane errands after the kids head for school. Hmm. I have no idea what to make them for breakfast.

Dawna and J, I'm impressed with your knowledge of Indian/Mexican jewelry. You guys own some lovely pieces. Makes me wish I'd paid more attention to it during a trip to Santa Fe years ago.
