FRIDAY: the fact that Russell beat Sainz in a Ferrari straight up is impressive. There are some drivers who just do more with less... Russell is one of those. Wait 'till he gets into the Merc that he actually fits into... he's going to fly!
Max continues to impress as compared to his teammates. Perez just hasn't gotten to grips with the car just yet. SATURDAY: I liked the Sprint qualifying format after the first try. If Lewis gets head of Max tomorrow it'll be hard for Max to pass with Lewis' straight line speed and Max is going to have to do it all by himself against both Mercs as Perez made another unforced error and will start dead last. Mercedes again sacrificed Bottas qualifying to help Lewis by putting him on soft tires and hoping he would jump Max at the start and let Lewis go off into the distance and blocking Max VB's tires burned off. Didn't work out this time. Alonso is still a beast... |

Very inspiring! No doubt talent and a BIG set of dangling bits. Holy sheeeet soooo impressive
And yes, it really is THAT close car to car during starts.

Gotta admit Verstappen is laser focused this year and and I'm so impressed by his immense improvement in driving and maturity. He is beating Lewis straight up. It has to be said that the RB is the better car this year by about three tenths over the MB but it makes a difference over laps. However I'm not a hater and one who denies ability....unlike like Lewis haters who only say it's the car, just like for Lewis, for Max, it's not just the the car either, it doesn't drive itself and if it was just the car, Perez would be at the top.
Max is driving on another level this year, and he's racing smart, aggressive but no longer reckless like in the past. I can no longer call him Crashstappen and I expect he will win the championship, and when he does he'll do it by legitimately beating the best driver of this generation. I'm not even a Max fan but it's remarkable how he's so calm, doesn't even put in as many laps, goes out there and bangs in a lap 0.3-0.7 faster than MB, every time....Lewis can only say seven tenths from where??? Meanwhile, it's also showing how good Lewis is....even though his car is slower, he's squeezing out times by driving it on brink of the most performance you can get, and it's just off by a few tenths. These guys are earning every point this year, the hard way because Lewis is so close behind that if Verstappen makes any tiny minuscule mistake Lewis will be right there to capitalize, Max is making no such mistakes. Respect is due. |

Another advantage of yesterday’s Sprint Qually seen on pre-grid now - open tire choice. Who will choose the best strategy for this hot Summer Silverstone Sizzle GP?

Could be driver preference or something else. MB car would be just as quick if rake and trim was as aggressive as RB car methinks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Looks like Max turned into Ham, Max had plenty of room on the outside (left). jmho
Basic racing incident. No penalty.

Ham gave Ver room time and again. It is tricky for sure.
Just re-watched, Ver fault at worst, racing incident at the least.

PS: My wife says Ver pulled a Vettel. We ALL know what that means.
PPS: My wife prefers Max in general, and says Ham is better looking.

True HAM raced fair in all prior corners. What the Stewards are looking at is just the corner in question. VER will not get a penalty - I know of which I speak. HAM might but I tend to agree with your final words - potential racing incident. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

The Official Formula One Thread!
Glad VER could exit car on his own. Sadly he must looked concussed or he’d have walked to medical car. Instead he went to ambulance.
He was wobbly - I fear he could not complete the protocol upon med response. Pray for nothing large but worry he is concussed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

10 sec pen, needs to get past Leclerc ASAP and disappear, could still win or 2nd behind Bottas.
