Absolutely fantastic! Well done once again my friend! Such a classy car!

This is back on the road. Slowly repairing and removing rust from everything…

Front main seal last weekend.

And dude, this was somewhat inspired by you. And I couldn’t be happier. This car suits me so very well. It’s perfect for me.
This goes without saying, WE NEED MORE PICS! Did you unload the 911 or bentley for this?

Nice and the perfect color combo. Did you launch the Audi?

As soon as I get it back, I’ll take a lot.

The 911 left a while ago. But had a coupe allocation coming. It had 26k mikes on it and every time I rally’d it broker the night vision assist. Long story. But they wanted to charge me for it every time.

The Bentley was a fluke. It was at my storage place and some dude saw it. Apparently had to have it. Offered me far more than it’s value. I still lost money on it, but I couldn’t refuse. Apparently really wanted that spec. I’ll miss it. I’ll get one again someday.

I actually also found a buddy to buy my 911 allocation. I have 3 cars at the moment. I don’t want more. Two in my garage, and the daily in the driveway. More than enough.

But I’m all honestly, I don’t want to downs the money on it, I don’t want additional insurance payments, and I don’t want cars in the storage spot any more. I’m going try and stick to 3.

Only caveat might be a gt350 for track use.

Current lineup.

2023 Audi R8 spider.
2022 cayanne turbo gt.
2011 Mercedes SLS.

I’ll get picks of them all. I like this combo.

Still here, to everyone’s surprise.

But to me it’s the best if all worlds. I get exotic looks, but in an Audi. I can drive it to work with minimal self consciousness…because it’s an Audi.

But it comes with a screaming V10, exceptional performance, and a retractable roof. It might go sometime soon. I have to admit that. But it might stay a while too. It really suits me.

I’ll miss having a 911 for now. But the cayanne turbo gt is such a beast it plays a similar role.

You are not kidding brother. It’s a problem.

But I really do think I’m good now. For now.

All the flipping and paperwork, it gets exhausting. I’m tired of myself. And I like my set up.

Hopeful no more changes for now. Lol

Might be time for you to just open up a dealership...you change cars more than I change girlfriends

Have you contemplated something more vintage and analog, pre 2000s (no night vision assist issues)? Might be worth exploring, they will provide a sense of emotion and occasion that modern cars can't match.

Ha. I just can’t please you!! Being playful obviously.

But I’ve definitely thought about an air cooled Porsche. Someday.

But for now, I’m really happy with my little collection. I’m not denying emotion you are referencing, but for now my preference is definitely modern.

This is why I love the SLS so much. Gives me a vintage feel, but mostly modern amenities. I like that.

No offense, B hit it out of the park for me with the Diablo. That was my childhood poster dream car.

I’m on the side of branching out from technology and electronics and get back to raw, unadulterated power that is all about the driver and nothing else. B may have a passenger in the Diablo but when he is shifting into third hot with a gated shifter the passenger is the last thing that’s making him happy.

While I appreciate and have immense respect that car. And would drool over it for hours, I’ve got zero desire to even drive it, let alone own it.

It’s just not for me. But it does inspire me.

Half the dudes in lambos I know don’t know the difference between single clutch or dual clutch. They drive lambos because of the name.

Some, I’m convinced don’t even like cars all that much, they just want the clout. And tbh, I think all thats great. It gives folks a way to express themselves. I had a sociology teacher that used to say the type of car you have, and the way you keep it, reflects your personality.

The way I jump through cars, that reflects mine. My personality has been detrimental to me in a lot of ways. But it has served me far greater in many more. It rubs some folks the wrong way. I’ve learned to be okay with that.

But to the above, same reason I don’t currently own a Rolex. I will again someday, for sure. Amazing watches. Hoping to get a skyD soon. I imagine I’ll own an actual exotic someday again too.

But it won’t likely be a popular model. I tend to gravitate towards what others don’t want.

Not with the SLS though. That thing is pure class. And typically garners a lot of respect from car guys. I’ve always loved them. And I genuinely believe it’ll be worth north of 500k.

Not mine though. Because I’m doing to drive the heck out of it. An older lambo or Ferrari is a car for occasion. I’m just not that kind of car owner.

I’d get an F430. But only because they are so well priced, and I think they are the nicest lines in the game. I can also drive it and not care.

It’s not a competition though. And I’m certainly not going to compete with B if it were. I know when I’m out of my league.

But the entire reason I started GSMC is to do my part and get rid of the competition behind cars. Everyone talks down to everyone else. Ford vs Chevy. Ferrari vs lambo. Porsche vs everyone. Etc

You just bought a new car, but maybe you should try this instead? Nah. That’s not me. I try to support everyone. No matter who they are, where they came from, or what their taste is.

I think the beauty of cars is that it allows us to show who we are, and enjoy who we are, without judgment. Building bridges, through the love of cars. That’s literally the GSMC tag line.

So much division in this world. I feel like the love of cars can bring us together. My meets are all about everything. Including everyone. From a Civic to a Pista. Come one, come all.

Someday I’d like a modern Ferrari. I like the technology. The rear view camera, the sensors, the lane change assist. Blind spot monitor? I love it!!

I’d posit there’s very little in common between vintage cars and modern ones. I wouldn’t expect a lover of one to desire the other and I would say the cross section is rather small. There’s cross appreciation for sure but very few, outside those with very large collections, adore and own say a countach and a 992 GT3.

On one hand with vintage you get a air of refined taste, more stable appreciation, in many cases exclusivity relative to the cars and coffee where 100 guys have an F8/Huracan/GT3.

On the other hand performance is not even comparable to modern cars costing 40-50k and maintenance needs to be carefully considered with a quality independent shop or by the owner personally if you’re a real hero.

With a modern car you aren’t going to be confused for George Clooney strolling around positano but you get a full warranty, modern conveniences and the level of performance you’d expect when laying out your hard earned dollars.

In an ideal world we are all Leno and can fill a garage with both no?

With my wallet I’d have to side with Seth. I’d also take a new build over a character house for the same reasons. I think part of this is that like my brother Seth I don’t get emotionally attached to things. I enjoy having them but I don’t tend to buy things and think this is going to the grave with me! It’s just a watch, just a car, just a house etc

I have said before in many ways this makes me more of an enthusiast than a collector when it comes to watches. The same could be said for Seth and cars vs Brian who is building his dream garage piece by piece which is very enjoyable to read about here.

As usual, well said.

Total difference between an enthusiast and a collector. Great point.

I personally want to be in as many cars as I can. Find what I love. At the same time, I admit I’d like to hold them longer. Lol. Hoping this combo keeps me at least until the end of 2023.

Now that is a proper transport, for a proper car.

Standard fare, really, but I don’t think I’d have anything else. I tried the new defender recently, then sold it and went back to the L322 — I think it’s Land Rover’s zenith it. This particular one is my 50th Land Rover.
