I love smoked whiskey drinks. We have some star anise at home, didn’t even think to try that on a slate cheese board we have sitting around somewhere. Hope it was delish!

Opened this one up, love it! I’m gotta try and find the 10 year bourbon at retail now (I’ll even pay a bit of a mark up)

I called to wish my friend a Happy Birthday on June 26. He was on a camping trip and uncharacteristically drunk. One of our buddies had given him a bottle of Jefferson’s Ocean Bourbon and he had imbibed a little.

I’m not a bourbon fan, but this is an interesting concept.

It’s a gimmick. Average bourbon, at best. Jefferson’s has some other stellar offerings, like a few of their finished bourbons, and the presidential series, but the aged at sea thing is pure marketing.

I’ve heard great things about the 10-year Rye, and you really scored if you found a 2017 bottle sitting on the shelf that long at retail. Those easily go for 2-3x retail on secondary.

The M10 bourbon has been a let down every time I try it. I honestly think it’s the proof. Proofing it down to 90 takes so much of the flavor away. I have a bottle still (retail, but honestly not worth it unless you just want to complete a collection), but I won’t buy another one. Too much other great bourbon out there for the same price, or less.

Not sure of the bottling year on this one. I got a tip from a friend that saw it sitting on the shelf at a Safeway not too far from me and picked up the last one for retail. Would love to try the the 10 year bourbon if I could find it.

On the neck of the bottle, it gives the barrel number. 17A07 means it’s from the 2017 batch.

That's a great bottle - especially finding a 2017!

Macallan now brings 2 new double casks.

American whiskey exports to the EU fall by 33 percent. The reason is the customs dispute.

The Lagavulin is less peaty ad more fruity(if you will). They're both winner! The Laphroaig is a kick in the mouth!!

Asked my doc how can I know if I have Covid? He suggested that I take a whiff of my bottle of scotch, if I can smell it I am probably OK, then take a sip, if I can taste it then enjoy my scotch and stop worrying.

I sent him a bottle of Oban.
