Oh please, why even bother offering your pilot's services if you don't do luggage!?

Carl, I do trust that you drink a proper Martini and not one of those "look alike" ones with vodka...dry or extra dry where you just wave the bottle of Vermouth over the top of your glass???

And as for luggage...I don't do windows either.....

Take it easy.....Leo

I'll be honest with you Leo, I've never had a Martini in my life!

It sure is on my bucket list though...

As for windows, I don't mind, it's not like I really want anybody to open theirs whilst being on a plane...

Art, that really makes me smile! Good for you! Do you know the name of her grandfather? I bet it's in my book and I could look up his designs. Would love to have seen their collection.

Martinis are fun - making them is as fun as sipping them. I haven't had one in years, but they are good. Carl, give it a try.

Carl, I know many people drink Martinis with Vodka nowadays but your first one should be with Gin(did you know the berries from Junipers are used in making Gin)...so please keep that in mind.....

I'll have to ask Mikki, oh Mikki where are you, but in that type of plane, Wes showed, I believe the pilot is in that back seat!!!

Just think if the Concorde's were still flying and we could afford the Petrol we could be across the pond in just over a couple of hours!!!

Isn't that just scrumptious, Dawna. Great score! I bet the color is even more vibrant in person (turquoise is so hard to photograph). I don't have anything in that "sea foam" turq, which became a big thing starting in about the 1970s.
--

Art, good for you! I'm glad we're having a pottery seminar here, among other crazy discussions.
--
And Wes, I do love vintage planes. They were real achievements of design, weren't they. Beautiful. We have a vintage fly-in event in my county every spring, so I get to see a bunch of biplanes. It's quite the hobbyist attraction.

Great looking bracelet, Dawna! I was in Antique Avenue yesterday (relieving some cabin fever from all this rain!) and thought of you. Lots of vintage cowboy boots, weren't there? I saw some lizard ones that were in very nice shape - but a size too large. Maybe I should have tried them on anyway....

I have a new topic to introduce....ya'll might laugh at me. I want a hen or two to keep in the backyard. There's currently a city ordinance prohibiting poultry in the suburbs, but there's also a growing number of progressive citizens working to change things.

J or Dawna, do you keep chickens?

They did have a lot of vintage boots! Boots from the 30's - 60's are part of my 'decor'....so I'm always on the lookout for them. Didn't find any there, most of those were still pretty wearable, even.

We have had chickens in the past, but not for the past year or so. I love having them...but it's hard to keep the coyotes away where we live so unless we only let them out of the chicken yard when we were home, and then put them up before dark, I was always worried they would get eaten! So that created a lot of extra work. BUT....having a few in the city, I think would be great!. And easier. The fresh eggs are the best. I'll post a photo of our chicken coop tonight if I can remember!

Even Petsmart has a selection of chicken coops and runs. I just need to tap in to the organization(s) and join the movement to get our city leaders' attention. Tulsa, Norman, Bethany and Yukon allow hens in the 'burbs. Or.... I could visit with each of our neighbors and see about maybe a.... "chicken by the wink."

We had a nice little hen when I was a kid. A couple of stray dogs brought her into the backyard from who knows where and Mom rescued her. She hung around the back patio from then on and laid a brown egg in an old charcoal bucket nearly every day. She would roost on the floodlight by our back door each night. The fun thing about her was that she didn't mind at all if you picked her up and carried her around.

I love cowboy boots more than any other footwear but my feet don't tolerate them well anymore. I fantasize about going down to San Antonio and getting custom ones made.
--
Chickens: everyone I know who keeps them loves them. The problem here is that I have free-range dogs, so free-range chickens + free-range dogs = one quick gulp on the run. We might someday put chickens behind the fencing to solve that, but we have neighbors who produce the best eggs, so there's no need. I do not buy commercial eggs ever, well except when the gals aren't laying, and there is no equivalence.

Lisa, you and the girls would have a blast. Keep us posted if you look into it further.

When we first got married our red heeler 'found' a chicken and was proudly carrying it across the pasture...my husband saw him and yelled for him to 'drop it!' which he promptly did. The chicken followed him the rest of the way home...they spent the next couple of years sharing a dog house. You could carry that hen around, too. I have a photo of those two unlikely buddies somewhere....

That's a more comfy toe than the pointed kind, for sure!

That said, my Old Gringos are very comfortable, as are my 1978 Acme's, which I've had since high school and are quite broken in. So much has to do with the maker - I have a pair of Lanes that just make my feet tired and achy, and I can only wear them for short periods of time.

That is a great story! I've got a pic somewhere of me sitting on the couch holding our chicken like a lap dog. If I find it I'll post it.

Our german shepherd never bothered her, nor did the cats. However, she met her demise in a rather ironic way - another stray dog ran into the yard in broad daylight and grabbed her up. I found her bones and feathers by the creek the next day. Still, we had at least three years of great memories of her.

I know... having pets in a semirural area is fraught with tragedy... a bobcat ate one of our cats, and a hawk got another one. I wish all animals were vegetarians.

Dawna, I laugh thinking about your dog dropping the hen, and it promptly getting up and following the dog home. She must have thought she was getting complimentary transportation to her new home.

For a while when I was a kid we had 3 chickens. They were the result of getting chicks for Easter. They grew up and so my father made a coop in the garage. I was young so I don't remember much, just that my rooster was white and I thought it was cool to have chickens in the garage.
