Very cool, Bill. I like seeing those old tractors. Can you get some close ups this year? That would be nice! I had a summer job in HS with the Township mowing ball fields and the Township ski slopes on old tractors like those. Always thought I was going to tip over.

Do you know what? If I see them all out again this year maybe I'll pull the Valkyrie up on the sidewalk and get some pics of them together. A bit of bling for those fine old machines. Nice to see them being appreciated and brought back to new now that their working days are behind them.

It is probably none of my business and I apologize if this question is inappropriate but does he really do that out of being one major league ... or is this more of a type of OCD? I find this behavior of his quite shocking indeed but it is also rather surprising to forbid words or expressions and to request a schedule for everything...

Sounds like you may have a story or two to tell!

But once we grew up, my sister became a sweetheart. Probably because I no longer steal her MAD magazines.

My brother doesn't communicate with anyone.

Bill, that would be fun to see tractor/motorcycle pics.

Does the guy sell his old tractors, or just collect them?

Someone told me my brother has some form of "high-functioning Asberger's syndrome."

I'm not a Dr but he's always been a pea-are-eye-sea-kay.

His mantras are: Frist we'll do it my way, then we'll do it my way. And if you don't like it you know what you can do about it.

Nothing unusual I suppose, apart from a fight now and then I'm very close with my sister and parents.

I know many people with Asbergers and none of them are this dictatorial and controlling of others. I'd tell him that I have "Authority Contradiction Syndrome" which forces me to say "piss off" to unreasonable demands.

I haven't talked to the SOB in 2 years. Hate to say it, but it's better that way. He's just anxious to pick a fight. Everything is turned into an adversarial relationship. If you say the sky is blue, he'll say it's light blue, or azure...

He adds nothing to my life and we're better off not communicating. He lives in AZ and much as I'd like to spend some vacation time there, it's not worth the aggravation.

Besides, his house is not suited at all for people with my disability so it's a REAL difficult time there, physically and mentally.

Heh, my brother lives in AZ, too. Is there something about the place that is particularly alluring to knotheads?

Ha! My brother lived in AZ before moving to Denmark. He can be extremely difficult for many people to get along with. A former army intelligence officer he always gets his word in and usually the last word - even if he has to talk over you to do it. As you can imagine that's not a very popular way to be in Danish civilian culture. He's the 'ugly American' there. Heck it's not a popular way to be here either but he's always been that way. When we were kids living in the same house he was always difficult. We fought a lot. Daily. He once broke down the front door trying to get at me after I beat him into the house and locked it behind me. Funny but then we worked together to fix it before my mother got home. Another time he was pounding my head with his arm cast (he'd broken his wrist at work) and I turned and punched him in the nose and that had him bleeding for (literally) hours. Now, even though he's in Europe, we're pretty close. He calls and we chat for hours. We make each other laugh very hard over stupid stuff that no one else would get the joke. Just ridiculously stupid things that we make seem funny . I let him drone on about the things he's extremely knowledgeable about and let him share opinions about things he knows nothing about. It's ok, it's just talk. He can be right - even when he isn't. I miss him and wish he'd move back to the USA, just not next door.

I envy those who have good relationships with their sibllings. It just aint gonna happen with my brother and me.

We used to send cassette tapes back and forth, for about 25 years. We'd use a mike and just chat about stuff for an hour. It was fun, until I talked to my brother about his ex-boss Earl. I got a 10 minute doctoral dissertation about how my pronunciation of "Earl" was wrong. I was, to him, saying it as "Errol" as in Flynn, and not "Earl" which is pronounced differently. So that was the end of the tapes.

I sent him an email in Apr 2011 when I told him I was losing my job. His answer, deep in sympathy and feeling, "Well, you suspected this was going to happen."

I never responded. Since it's "my turn" to send the email, and he has a rule stating he never initiates an email, only replies to them, I'll never hear from him again.

It's true. No one can make this stuff up. If I can find the photos at home, I'll post the weekly menu for the time I last visited, and the cleaning schedule for the house.

As they say, a picture is worth 1,000 words. I swear these are unmodified, as posted in my brother's house:

I think that about sums it up.

I've been wondering about that myself. My own BIL is very controlling of my sister. I've already talked to her about it. It's too bad she's too weak to stand up for herself. No worries. She's happy. She knows she is because he tells her so.

Wait a minute. He takes out the trash? Pays the bills? Does laundry? Vacuums? Waters, fertilizes, does all the outdoor work?

I'm kind of starting to like this guy.

His descriptions are a bit dramatic.
ALL the laundry
THE MANY cat litter pans
ALL the vacuuming EVERYWHERE

Dude seems a bit self righteous to me. (no offense to his brother of course)

Regarding the garages and tools. - that's just padding the list. If they're cluttered and his tools aren't put away that's no one else's business. Kind of like me caring if the pots and pans are disheveled. MYOB

Bob, that's seriously "wow" indeed, thank goodness my brother doesn't do that, I wouldn't be able to endure it...
