They have a good safari here in Orlando. I go to it often. May go tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

It's nice that you are close by and can go enjoy that regularly.

Violet got run over by a squirrel today.

He went scampering across the lawn after the neighbor boy scared him, and bounded right over her bare foot. His toenail punctured the top of her foot! Nothing a little neosporin and band-aid couldn't fix.

I wonder if he was getting even for all of his ancestors who got flattened by us human drivers.

And how did Violet feel about that? Does she still like squirrels?

She was a little frightened of the blood but didn't cry. Now she thinks it's kind of cool to have been run over by a squirrel.

Leo - the climbing roses are sprawling all over the place. I pruned them last month but they're growing a lot - I didn't cut a whole lot off because I wasn't sure how much to thin the canes. Already there are tiny buds developing. I will take some pics when they start blooming.

Furry wood rat hurt Violet?

Just wait. I'm on my way to avenge her. Squirrel must pay.

Ha, Bill! It's okay. We forgive him. If the little neighbor boy hadn't chased him he wouldn't have done it. I know he didn't mean to cause her any harm.

Lisa, very nice you could use ties to train them up and along the fence or you won't hurt them if you decide to prune them back a bit. They make twist ties that are green foam wrapped, come in a spool so you can cut them to any length you want. I will really enjoy seeing the flowers...when they bloom, here where we are the bulbs are growing and some of the perennials just begun to poke their heads through the earth's crust!!!

Take it easy and wish Violet a speedy recovery and I'm jealous...I want to be able to go barefoot through the yard but today we had snow flurries.....Leo

It's okay... This time.
If Violet ever gets run over by that squirrel again there's gonna be trouble.
Oh, and tell him to cut his nails.

Bought a new hedge trimmer today. I seriously hate yard work, but it worked well for what I needed it to do.

Is it the electric kind? I just have the old clip, clip, clippers.

Ha. Dave hates yard work, too. At least, I assume he does. Because I've actually never observed him doing it.

But guess what? He built a very nice rabbit hutch for the bunny. It looks great and bunny loves it!

Leo, I've been training the roses along the chain link fence. I use strips of cloth, yarn, string, or whatever's handy. But there is a roll of the twist-tie stuff in my garden shed. Not sure how it got there - I don't recall buying it!

Yes the electric kind. I prefer electric yard tools. They never break, don't start, require a tune up, run out of gas. My yard is small enough that I can reach everything with an extension cord.

It's not me Bill, however, whoever did this is quite generous and kind!

Lisa, did I miss you saying what the bunny's name is? What a wonderful springtime project for you ladies.

Bill, congrats. How thoughtful of your benefactor.

I was disappointed not to see Northern Lights last evening. They were supposed to have been possible, but alas all we got was a spectacularly clear and beautiful night sky. The moon was a low sliver, very dramatic, but I really wanted the shimmery lights. I've only seen it once, totally unexpectedly, one cold autumn night here.
