Nothing wrong with Bob Dylan. Or The Rodentwoman. You can have whatever opinion you want. Since I don't have a MB, Porsche, Audi, or BMW I'm just crapola anyway.

Bob, I'm lucky too, my wife does not spend money hardly at all as well...she's a saver and is the keeper of our budget...and I'm very grateful. As a matter of fact she keeps stashes and gift cards for years sometimes...also sometimes she forgets where she stashes money and then when she finds it it's like found money and I ask her to go spend it on something for herself!!!

Take it easy.....Leo

Eh, whatever it takes to make a marriage work. Nothing's typical after a couple of decades... it's unique to the couple.

Here's the completed weekend project - a new outdoor home for the bunny. She had a small cage before and seems to enjoy the extra room in the new digs. It has a bedroom/dining area, covered porch and open patio. Dave did a good job. Now, I don't think too many modifications would be necessary to put together another project - a top notch chicken coop....

Is the bottom screen on only 1/2 and is there a large door on the closed side for cleaning? Is it also attached to the fence so that any large stray dogs can't knock it over?
Gotta keep bunny safe. We had an incident when I was a small kid. My parents shielded me from seeing it but basically dogs came and somehow hurt rabbits from the bottom and it wasn't good.
When Wendy and I were dating I had a house rabbit. He just chilled with the cat. They shared the litter box. Wendy thought he was psycho. LOL

The entire solid roof is hinged so it opens for cleaning (it will have a latch as soon as Dave installs one but it's a heavy lid), as does the small door on the front left of the hutch. It's heavy, but securing it to the fence post (which is set in concrete) is a good idea. The floor of the enclosed portion is 5/8" plywood, and the floor on the other 2/3 is 1/2 inch screen but it's a heavier gauge than the sides and top. The screen floor is reinforced with two metal bars and a 2X4 support. Hope that's enough.

All of the wood is held together with screws - 3 inch in most cases.

I should have included these details, Bill. I know you like to know about building stuff.

As for Leah being a house rabbit - we tried that and it didn't work out. She tore up everything - managed to chew up a rug, a desk, and an end table, many hardback books, shredded a bed spread and chewed a hole in the leather couch. Spaying made no difference.

Ha! That brings back memories. Spunky the psycho rabbit chewed all the bindings off my hardcover books and ate a hole in my leather jacket. My apartment had indoor/outdoor carpeting and he made pulls in it. Hence the nickname.
I knew Dave would overbuild the hutch. Good job.

Overbuilt is always the answer. When I first got Bandit I built him a dog house (1999-2000?). I didn't know how to just slap a bunch of boards together and call it a dog house so I built it with full 2x4 framework, double walls with insulation. Roof studs, texture 182 outside walls, marine plywood roof, shingles, screen vents on the end for air circulation and carpeting. It was a work of art. The most solid dog house ever. He loved it.
I sold it about a year ago and it took 3 men to lift it to the back of a pickup truck.
Bandit was a big Husky/? mutt and loved to be outside.

That is close to a Dylan lyric, but not exact. I hope it didn't sound like I was judging anyone, in case that was aimed my way. (I said I'm not "like" Rodentwoman, not that I don't "like" her.)

I am in NH right now, less than an hour north. The bombs were in my old hood in college. I am here for the death of my grandmother, who died on Friday. The funeral is on Thurs. I'm already freaked out over Luppy, now my grandmother who died literally an hour after I arrived and told her it was ok. And now some lower than dung beetle animal(s) has blown up people in an area that I love. What the holy hell is happening to our world?

Sorry for the loss of your Grandmother, Mikki. As for what is going on in our world? Well, it's very sad indeed.

Thank you, Art. I want to be home, but have to do the dance for this funeral ritual we humans put ourselves through. Rolex related, I walked into the AD where the ring my grandmother gave me was purchased, along with the original box. They were "wow, that's REALLY cool!" They had some nice pieces there for sale, including an Explorer I, some nice Tudor Chronographs, and *gasp* a very nice Patek.

Oh, I'm not cavalier at the death of my grandmother. I loved her very much. She was 93 and had been saying for years that she really wanted to die. She was at a nursing home for the last year. She decided the week before that she was going to exit, and she stopped eating. I will miss her terribly, but what I will miss could never be again, even if she was still alive. It was time for that very old, broken body to rest. Past time. Seeing the shape she was in, an hour before her death was awful, and I'm still a bit freaked out that she waited deliberately for me and my daughter to arrive. She had been non responsive for days, not saying anything. When I arrived, and got down and yelled in her ear (she was mostly deaf) that I was there, with the rest of the family, that we loved her, that I remembered all of the things she wanted, and I will make sure it happens, and that if she wanted to go, we'd be ok. She died within that hour.

I am glad her pain is over and she is at peace. I am very, very sad that she will no longer be a part of my life. But I have let her spirit go. It's the human thing to do.

As for Boston, I'm also freaked by that in a pretty profound way.

My experience says otherwise. Still real cool and lots of fun, but psycho. Of course it could be that I worked nights and went away to see Wendy most weekends and the little bunny didn't get as much attention as he needed. In hindsight it seems that I substituted freedom (no cage) for attention.
Hey, the cat thrived. What did I know?

House bunnies SHOULD be calm and chill. Leah just doesn't have the personality for it. I was told to hold her a lot when she was a baby so that she'd be gentle and not mind being carried around. After weeks of walking around with shredded forearms I gave up.

I should have paid more attention to what breed I was getting, since there are big differences in temperament. She's a lionhead/dutch mix, but the vet said she's probably also part jackrabbit.

Lisa, that bunny sure is cute even if it seems like she's quite an energetic forearm hunter! My girlfriend had a rabbit for almost ten years when we started dating for the first time, she still misses the poor animal dearly and I thought of buying a new one, we'll see when we move in together in a new apartment.

P.S.: Watched What's Eating Gilbert Grape yesterday, quite a beautiful movie even if I can't say there's an actual story in it. Depp plays his role very well and through the movie it seems like you can't even associate the mentally challenged DiCaprio with the man who played in Titanic, Blood Diamond or The Departed.
