This is a great thread. I'd be curious if anyone here owns a Breitling and your thoughts on the weight. I have had my eye on a couple but by most accounts, they are very very heavy watches.

There's a popular reference thread for watch weights at https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=429943

My RG DD40 is 200g with two links out. Bloodhound AK is 150g and I forget if it’s only one link out on that one.

I realize I am resurrecting an old thread here, but can anyone post some Breitling watches on scales? By all accounts their watches are really heavy, but I’ve seen some posts saying that just the HEADS of some of their watches are over 200 grams. Is that right?!

Does anyone know how much the movement weights? Specifically a 3155? Thanks.

Very interesting thread. I was just comparing perceived weights between my 16622 and 16570. Obviously the platinum in the bezel of the YM was going to add some heft, but based on this thread (and google) the watches are ~ 147g vs. 117g. Clearly more than just difference in materials, but both 40mm cases from approximately the same era (2005 vs. 2001, in my case), but 25% more regardless of where the increase lies.
This thread suggests the bezel alone on the YM is ~10g, with another 3-5g from the dial (which I find suspect): https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=235646 Anyhow, if you've never put on a full plat Rolex, you'd be amazed at the weight of it. It's almost as if you can feel the density of the metal- it's both awesome and exhausting at the same time! Doesn't make me want a Platona any less, though... |

![]() 103 grams And now, the Breitling Blackbird 39.8mm (A13350): ![]() 153 grams Both are sized for a 6.7 inch wrist. Apart from the case thickness, diameter and chronograph movement, the Blackbird also has "solid" centre links so is heavier and maybe not as comfortable as the Explorer. Doesn't have the famous Rolex rattle though! |
