Their product speaks for itself...do they really need a "brand ambassador?"

Land Rover used Victoria to promote the Evoque when that launched.

What-a-mistake-to-make!

Now they can't distance themselves further from the image she gave the car.

David, whilst being a good footballer, represents a sport which I find dreadful in all it pretends to be, making me a minirity I know.

I wish Tudor had picked someone more representative of a professional rather than what's become his image, mind you, I imagine their marketing dept. Knew exactly what they were doing signing him.

I have a feeling that Victoria Beckham had some input into the Evoque. It was probably what valve caps to put on the tyres but they made a big play on it when the car was launched.

Umm...no. They are not trying distance themselves from her. Her association has not hurt their sales one bit. Where are you getting your information from?

From the Range Rover main agent where I bought my wife's Evoque from.

Personally, at the time, I had no idea she had ever even been associated with it.

Seemed like a good idea at the time most likely.

As always, it's a business decision. Tha fan base for soccer around the world is huge. You can't compare Federer to Beckham. Beckham can reach the demographic Federer types can't. Tudor is in growth mode, positioning itself to be the first "nice watch" someone aspires to acquire. Methinks!

Should I care?

I dig the watch, so there's only one thing to do

Placed the order for the S&G and the BB Chrono with my AD right after Basel. When it arrived last week I knew I didn't need to wait for the Chrono.

Have to agree mate no matter what he wears always looks like a well dressed tramp IMHO just cannot see what they see in him.Yes he was a fairly good footballer but choose to be a media whore instead, yes he has plenty of money but money dont make the man.

Well if Beckham senior doesn't work out for Tudor (it will) then they could pay for Beckham Junior.

Sure I read that they had copyrighted/patented his name a few months ago. So they are expecting him to be the next part of the Beckham Franchise. Think he is doing some modelling etc already.

If simply their choice of Ambassador is the tipping point in your decision, that's ridiculous

This thread definitely brings out the jealousy in some. Guy keeps a clean image, seems to be a great father, was a successful athlete, has endorsement deal with the second largest clothing retailer in the WORLD, was/still is a fashion icon, is considered one of the most successful retired athletes/has had more success than 99.999% of people in the world and then you've got guys in here like 'horrible decision', 'oh can't stand him'. LOL WHY

I kind of agree with this, he has his faults like all of us, at least he didn't deflate soccer balls when he was a player :)

I've got ahead of the game and bought a '98 Tudor Submariner which will have no association with the little sh*t apart from the year he ruined England's chances in the World Cup by petulantly kicking out at a player and getting sent off. If he ever gets a knighthood I'll be sending mine back

That was my original point.

No axe to grind with Tudor or DB per se, just was intrigued by the choice as an ambassador. After reading this thread I've come around, maybe he's more of a cultural icon than I thought.

He's still no Federer

I remember arguing all that summer over how Becks getting sent off was the only way England had any chance in that match, without going backs to the wall, which is England's strength sadly, Ortega and the Argentinians would have continued to rip through England and would have scored at least two more. And also arguing how Owen's mazy run goal was better than Bergkamp's control and volley. Looking back, the 90s were such glory days for England.
