I think to make such an enamel dial you need an artist to make it a simple craftsmen just not good enough, may be i m wrong .In my opinion and many of you will argue with me but the PP WT enamel dials are the quintessence of PP haute horologerie ,PCCs are great Split seconds are even greater but for ME the WT is the superwatch.

I got my 5712 in 2015 pre-owned for retail, which I thought was expensive back then. The more the value has risen the less I am inclined to wear it, I feel its attracts too much attention now. I'll be going back to my Omega 1510 Megaquartz that I can enjoy anonymously

look george, if the presentation of an object of daily life evokes strong feelings and reactions in you then it has an artistic connotation. that is precisely what duchamp and beuys have taught us, when they arranged objects from daily life in a way that they did something new to our perception of the world and how we feel about it.
this is really the definition of good art - evoke strong emotions in outside observers.. it has often (surely not always) very little to do with 'skills', the latter refers to craftsmanship. i am the first to admit that both are not independent, but for the classification of an artwork it takes more than even highly skilled execution. as so often it is good to learn something about the background of artistic endeavor in general, it makes one appreciate more - maybe even the work of marcel duchamp. whatever you make of it, for me WTs are not pieces of art, they are perfectly well executed time pieces with a touch of individualism, inspite of being often (re)produced. nothing more and nothing less. they may be central to patek, but i would also not refer to them as pieces of high orology, for that the movements are too simple. this is different from minute repeaters for example. anyway, people like WTs and that is fine. i find them somewhat likable as well, between kitsch and old fashioned but as i said i will get my 5231J in 2020, just for the sake of adding spice to my collection. i am by no means immune to kitsch myself:::))) all good, no?:::))) |

Urinals, high complication astrological pieces (what IS that UN by the way, I want to read more about it...) and absurdly priced platinum nautili...
So is the back end falling out of the market or what ![]() None of my pieces are for sale or trading at the moment (most have special meaning) but I still kick myself for not trading into a 5711 white or 5712 grey when I had the chance. I went a different route and got a 5396R with breguet numerals but it didn't last long. If I've missed the boat for a Nautilus (like it did with the zenith Daytona) so be it. I won't chase, I will find value elsewhere and enjoy them all the more for then not being "hot" pieces ![]() In the meantime... It is the Ulysse Nardin Tellurium Johannes Kepler, and part of the trilogy of time, the other two being Planetarium Copernicus and Astrolabum Galileo, originating from the late ‘80s-early ‘90s, iirc.
