Monday - 2-3 light beers
Tuesday - anywhere from 1-2 double whiskeys/ tequila some kind of liquor
Wedneday - no alcohol
thursday - half a bottle of white wine + 1-2 whiskeys
Friday - bottle of red wine with dinner spread across the night + maybe one whiskey
saturday - 2-3 beers or 1/2 bottle of white wine + whiskey
sunday- no alcohol

On average that sums up my average week over the last couple of months - 4-5 days of alcohol and 2-3 of none. Is this a problem?
I drink beers mainly and about 15ish a week.

I tend to avoid alcohol during the normal week. However, I down around 12 cans of non-alcoholic beer per week. Heineken 0.0 and Mikkeller Drink'n in the Sun are my go-to beers.

I just love the taste of beer so much, but I'm not willing to put up with the detrimental health effects and feeling shitty the next day.

I like this!

Seriously, keep doing what you like I say, as long as you are good to your loved ones and family, get things done in a positive way and you are happy! I've known a lot of great heavy drinkers, but I've also known some that needed to straight stop or seriously regulate. I believe you get to a point where you can stop, take an assement of your life / world, and know what changes you do or don't need to make.

doesn't non alcoholic beer have a lot of carbs? I found that's the reason the good tasting non-alcoholic beers taste good.

Gave up drinking a year ago and never felt better. By no stretch did I have any issues with drinking, was just time after 30+ years. Have lost 30 pounds and there is not a relationship that I have that is not stronger due to stopping. I do zero preaching and if it works for you, that's great, keep on drink'in on.

I drink 4 coffees to wake up and 3 martinis to go to sleep. Better living through chemistry. Caffeine is more fun for raising your heart rate then exercise. Gin is more fun for reducing stress than exercise. #winning

I don’t drink anymore, only non alcoholic beers for the last 7-8 years. The lighter ones like Heineken tend to have very little carbs. I found the German non alcoholics have a ton of carbs.

Has anyone tried Haymans small gin? It’s basically made to amp up the flavor and reduce the alcohol. I think you use like a thimble full per drink.

Queen Elizabeth

She’s in her 90s and doing well.

According to The Independent, the Queen's cousin, Margaret Rhodes, revealed the British monarch's daily drinking habits, which she alleges never vary on a day-to-day basis. "She takes a gin and Dubonnet before lunch, with a slice of lemon and a lot of ice. She will take wine with lunch and a dry Martini and a glass of champagne in the evening."

I loved my beer and drank everyday since I was 20 years old. I stopped in March 2019 and haven't touch a drop of alcohol since. I'm now 61 years old and after almost 40 years of drinking beer at the age of 59 I decided to stop. I was on vacation in DR 1/19 and was partying like it was 1999.. well, the next day I was sick as a dog and couldn't eat or sleep my stomach was a mess. I stayed in my room sitting on the balcony for 3 days with plenty of time to think. Out of the blue I just decided I was going to stop for awhile and as of today haven't touch any alcohol at all. I feel, sleep and eat much better now and lost like 12 pounds. Don't miss it at all. Now just to chill during the night a little cannabis does it for me..

I shot gunned a beer with her once before a polo match. Don’t let her size fool you.

Comparing your consumption with other people's consumption has limited utility, in part because tolerance and body weight play a major role. 4 standard drinks affects a 130-pound male with average tolerance very differently than 4 standard drinks affects a 230-pound male with higher tolerance. [A "standard drink" is (a)12oz of 5% alcohol beverage such as beer, (b)5oz of a 12% alcohol beverage such as wine, or (c)1.5oz of a 40% hard alcohol beverage.] Other factors (such as whether you're drinking on an empty stomach vs. with food) also complicate these sorts of comparisons.

A more effective place to start is to assess the (negative) consequences of your typical consumption and (if relevant) your peak/atypical consumption. When people see me for alcohol consultations (I've done a lot of these), I often start by having them complete the AUDIT (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test). It's a 10-question instrument that'll take you maybe 2 minutes to complete. You can find online versions of the AUDIT. Rather than simply looking at the bottom-line numeric AUDIT score -- which is a perfectly natural starting place but is too reductionist by itself -- I like to look at each of the questions that led the person to score points and go into depth with each one. For example, if your spouse suggested you reduce your drinking, we'd be spending some time on Question 10 ("Has a relative or friend, doctor or other health worker been concerned about your drinking or suggested you cut down?").

We'd then get into the weeds with strategies to reduce/moderate consumption, how to treat drinking like a math problem using a customized blood alcohol content chart based upon your weight (which is interesting, concrete, and kind of fun), etc. But those are next steps that would follow a decision to want to change one's typical consumption.

Good luck with this, and happy to help if I can.

OP, I’m not a counselor. However, I would say that excessive. Take care of yourself. You don’t want any health issues due to alcohol.

I was drinking 3 litres of whiskey a week on top of having beers and wine. In September I had a TIA (mini-stroke) and fortunately made a very quick and full recovery. I haven't had an alcoholic drink since, had no withdrawal symtoms and have never felt better. Oh, and I've lost over 40 pounds in weight - it's great going to my wardrobe and finding everything fits again.

Thanks. I recently saw a episode of What alcohol does to the body on Netflix and it's not good. Doesn't matter what you drink if it has any alcohol it's not healthy.

I’m interested to try some of the low/no alcohol in the near future. I really want to try the haymans small gin. I’ve never been one to drink for the “feel good” part of it, I actually just like how certain drinks taste. So I don’t need a bunch. Just a dab will do. Honestly, I’d love to know how drinking has changed in states that have legalized pot. I could see a lot of people who enjoy their evening wind down swapping to pot to achieve the same in what’s arguably a much healthier, safer, package. I think I would if it were legal and you wouldn’t get fired for it. Who doesn’t like sleeping like a baby? Dunno when that will happen though with special interest being what they are.

I enjoy some good cannabis in the evenings just to relax before going to bed. I don't have to worry about getting fired since I'm retired going on 6 years now. I was lucky that I wasn't tested while I was working for 35 years. Those in the teachers union don't get texted unless you're missing a lot work or showing up blasted. I've been smoking since I was 20 and it never lead me to harder drugs. It takes will power and common sense and set your priorities. I didn't smoke to go to work because I didn't want to call the wrong attention. If you use common sense you'll be good.

It’s amazing how many people lack that one important trait....common sense...
