I hear you, I've got a warehouse full of fancy non-stick stuff but I always come back to my cast iron.

Glad to hear that wound looks worse than it is

Wow......brutal! Poor little munchkin! As moms, we frequently have to make a choice when kids aren't feeling well. I can tell you from years of experience that it's always hit 'n miss! Besides.....this has gotta be the best 'show and tell' ever!

Sorry to hear about Phoebe; but, as you know, these things happen. Tell her I will send a big ole' stinky fish if it will make her feel better.

Nice stove, Lisa! I'm terrified of gas stoves. Drives Al crazy. When we got our new kitchen appliances a couple of years ago, he was bound and determined we were going to get a gas stove. Finally, I opted to compromise, and I told him......"Ok.....here's the deal.......I'll agree to getting a gas stove, just as long as you know that you'll be learning to cook 'cause I won't be touching it!"

Mine is electric.

OMG!! And what was the school nurse doing at the time... her nails? It looks like she took a run at it, not just a casual fall. I'm pretty good at removing splinters, etc. but stuff like this.... well. Funny how guys are... if it were my son, I'd probably be calm and dad-like about it... a daughter, it'd be more like some heated words with the school and a $200 speeding ticket! Those are some pretty franken-staples there... Did they use this to put them in?

Tell Phoebe I sent a get well bird her way and it should be there soon. She can tell which one because it'll be the one singing.

Too bad about the ladies DJ. It always kind of had my vote. Well, it's off to work for me...

Work on a Saturday? Yick! Phoebe had suddenly got up to run to the bathroom in the nurse's office, and that's what made her faint. I don't think anyone could have reacted fast enough. I hold no fault, except with myself for not paying closer attention to how she was feeling that morning.

Pat, I love the DJ, too, but I think there will be another similar one in my future. Probably a 31 mm, and without the concentric dial. It's a neat effect, those circles, but for readibility it gets a zero!

I took yesterday off to do something with my wife. In the summer, it's hard to take off a Saturday. Cabin fever has settled in, bored with not being able to do much outside because of the weather, and very anxious for spring to get here, we took a ride.

We have a mall here but we can go there anytime. There's one an hour away that's three times the size of ours. Plus they have an AD there. Much more selection of stores, but also some of the same major dept stores like we have here. I don't mind doing this because if she's in a store for her, I can go in the book store, apple store or something else to kill the time while she shops.

Good idea for me, not her. She talked me into buying a pair of casual shoes on sale in Macy's. Regular price $120. On clearance rack for $29.99 OK so I figure I'm done.

We park outside JC Penney and are almost out the door when something caught my eye. Cargo shorts buy one, get one half off. Plus $10 off the original price. Got four pair Saw a nice pair of khaki colored wrinkle free pants to wear with a button up shirt in the summer. Regular $50, on sale for $30. Two Hawaiian shirts, a coral short sleeve pull over t-shirt and another pair of shoes later, I'm good.

I only had two pair of shoes before yesterday, one to wear when I got dressed up and another for casual wear. I don't like to wear mu good shoes in the snow, and the ones at JC Penney were half off. Plus it's hard for me to buy shoes because not many stores have much of a selection in a 13 wide

We go to check out and my wife has a 15% off coupon The cashier tells us that if we use our JC Penney cars, we save another 15%

So all in all I save $180, which is what all of the stuff cost too. So I got four pair of shorts, three shirts, a pair of pants and a pair of dress shoes for $188. Add in the $34 from Macy's and I think I did pretty good.

I don't shop for clothes much for myself at all but when I do I like to look for a bargain. Plus with all I bought yesterday, my summer wardrobe is good for about three years

My wife didn't find anything she liked so she came home empty handed I did buy her a wall charger for her iPod that she wanted, plus dinner at Dinosaur's BBQ. so the day wasn't a total loss for her

Nothing like finding great bargains like that eh? I had a similar experience last year when I went shopping during Boxing Week sales. I was looking for a dress for New Year's Eve. By the time I found the dress I really wanted, took into account the fact that it was already on sale, then got an additional 50% off because of Boxing Week, then another 15% off for using my store credit card, I ended up getting a $139.00 dress for $22.99!!!

Your wife might have come home empty handed, but I'll bet she was happy. There's nothing better than spending the day with your guy, and then getting dinner as an added bonus! Ya did good Paul!!

Yeha, we had a good day. One hour drive each way without the radio. Just good old conversation. Of course I kept poking her in in the face and side quite a bit so some of it was "Would you stop"

There really isn't much that I don't like doing with my wife. If the weather was nice, I would've stayed home and done something else.

If she wanted to shop for herself, I would've parked myself in the bookstore and told her to call me if she needed me or come get me when she was done.

Thanks for asking, Pat. She's doing fine and quite the attraction at school. The staples will come out Sunday. She doesn't mind them much, but I am so paranoid about combing her hair!

It has been quiet here. I'm waiting to get my groove back. Like I say, it's all ebb and flow. Toldja I was moody.

Nancy, I found the job description quite appealing - until I got to the "without complaining" part. That's the only satisfaction I get!! Whining is my way of life!

That's it exactly. I've been logged on as much as usual, but just not saying anything! Ah, well. Today's going to be lovely weather, so I think I'll spend some time outdoors with baby Violet. Maybe take the girls to the park after school.

Sounds like a wonderful plan. I can't wait for all the snow to be gone so I can get outside and do things. One of my sons and his wife and the little one are coming for dinner tonight. I'm off this week so it gives me time to get things done. Yesterday I did a bunch of cleaning. We had company last night.....and picture this...only another woman would really appreciate this.......Al suddenly says.....in front of our company......."I'm looking for a calendar. Where did you put all my junk that was lying around so you could impress these people?"

I think the Girls Coffeeshop is experiencing PMS. Seriously! I've been rather moody myself, lately... We are having a playgroup at the park after dismissal today, and I'm hoping 68 degrees and sunshine will do the trick!

Before I was a Mom

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -

I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.

I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests..
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't
stop the hurt. (insert Phoebe's staples here)
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom -

I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby..

I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so
important and happy.

Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.

I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,
the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a
Mom.

Man. I'm somewhat paying attention to the Today show right now, and one of the anchors is interviewing two young men. They are are not the most eloquent of fellows, and are making a sorry attempt to articulate what a good hearted, upstanding young lady "Kristen" is - i.e. the 22 yr old call girl Elliot Spitzer has been involved with.

TV just astounds me sometimes!

That's very cool, Nancy.

I think we're going to have another day of great weather. June tricycled all over the driveway and yard yesterday afternoon and Phoebe had several dirt projects going on in the front flowerbed. Violet watched from the stroller. I picked up several stray bricks, branches and hunks of concrete laying around (remnants of the renovation and ice storm). Hope to get things in shape a little outside. I like doing it, just hard to carve out the time.

Hope to get things in shape a little outside. I like doing it, just hard to carve out the time.
Sounds like it was a productive outing. I love puttering around in the yard in the nice weather. I remember how hard it was to find time to do those things. Remember, though.....you also have to find some "me" time to just be "Lisa, the woman"......not just a wife and mom. That's what's going to keep you sane.

Wow! I haven't logged on for a few weeks (I'm married, work full time, and have 2 little boys--and only use the computer once the kiddies have gone to sleep) so look what I've missed out on! There are quite a few interesting topics on this board.

What the heck gave you the idea that *I* maintained sanity?? I was just wondering how it looked on other moms!

Speaking of my 4 boys....I posted their pics along with my grandkids, in the Member Yearbook if you'd care to see what they look like! THEY look quite sane..so far!
