You should join MODA. ALOT and I mean ALOT of trusted and very big name gray dealers buy and sell on MODA.

You can buy directly from the same sellers like you do on TRF or anywhere else except its just on a facebook marketplace page.

Heck I've even negotiated a deal on MODA and then went to pick it up in person at their shop. There is ZERO difference except you get cheaper prices.

I know dealers who buy on MODA and post up on say WatchUSeek for a couple grand extra. Most end users dont have access or know about MODA or other trading pages like it.

An honest watch Youtuber? Say it isn't so.. this guy is one of the rare ones, telling it like it is with regular price updates (and mockery of greys & flippers).

This dude is hilarious. “The watch market is dead.” “That watch is dead in a backyard pool.”

From what I've seen, about 50% of the main Sellers on there are something other than "white", many with names very difficult to pronounce (for me).

Highly doubt it's racism.

Currently, greys are buying from flippers at lower price than MODA/chat groups. Otherwise it makes no sense (risk, immobilization of capital, etc).

Anthony's buy price for a BLRO oyster slider is at 16k-16.5k... https://youtu.be/oOB92l0Z0Po?t=323

It’s like a pre-Black Friday sale. Haha
At this rate, I can get a Daytona from grey close to retail (here’s to hoping)!!

Everything across the luxury spectrum is declining sharply as liquidity dries up. I expect lots of hard to get pieces to suddenly appear at AD's. I recently got my Meteorite GMT and I'm just a normal non whale.

RG oysterflex meteorite daytona for 76k. He posted it for 81k on nov 1, no taker. Now he just posted it for 76k of the same watch. Damn! 5k loss in profit already.

I wonder how much he paid for it from the flipper?

1. Standard new Rolex sport watches selling for MSRP by ADs or at a discount. You go to the AD who treats you best.
2. Used sport watches, unworn, selling for less than MSRP, due to their being used and having shorter warranties.
3. Worn watches selling for less than MSRP, and their value based on their condition and history. Beaten up models being cheaper than cleaner ones.
4. After a model gets discontinued, its value slowly creeps upward as a whole.
5. For limited sport models (Cermits/Daytonas), these are sold by ADs at MSRP, but are divvied up by the AD to their customers as they see fit, and not immediately diverted to the grey market.
6. For limited sport models, the unworn price would be expected to be above MSRP due to genuine lack of availability, and used worn pieces would depreciate little or always stay above MSRP, while appreciation would slowly creep up over time.
+1

Long time lurker, first time poster. I enjoy this thread as a collector because it means that I can go back to expanding my watch box. I don't buy to sell, but I refuse to buy for intrinsic reasons when it's a foolish decision. A recent example a couple of posts up is the RG meteorite daytona on OF -- I've wanted one for a while but refused to pay 6 figures. I'd gladly pick one up for $50k, though, and hold it forever.

As an intro, my collection consists of Tag, Tudor, Panerai, Rolex, and Breitling. I've been looking to add another Rolex to my collection along with a PP and a VC along the way. I'm hoping it keeps moving down so that I can make that dream come true.

I think BLRO's typically go for around 16.5/17 on there depending on the condition. BLNR's are 14.5-16 depending on the condition.

Just saw someone post a "Liquidation Sale" at the Moda 10K and Under.

All totally illiquid and hard to move watches.

First offer 2900 on a 6000 ask on a Ulysse Nardin .

This person has 6 IWCs for sale. The last time I had to sell an IWC I suffered 9 months of 50-60% asking price offers before getting rid of it in a trade.

I sometimes see less desirable vintage Pateks in that 10k Under Group that are OK for someone looking for a reasonably priced dress watch.

Usually they’re very small. Like 33mm. Also getting a 70 year old patek serviced isn’t gonna be cheap.
