I've been a BK (below knee) amputee since 7 June 1991.

The pussycat is a Siamese, a precious fellow to be sure. Here he is with his father, whom I also have:

And the Maxpuss loves them:

Nice!
I like cats too. Murphy likes them too but not in a nice way.

If you cut the vines at the bottom, would they eventually just dry up and be easier to pull down, or would they just... I dunno what I was going to say here. HA
I hope you can keep that awesome big tree, though! I lovvve big trees.
All this tree talk reminds me I need to have someone come trim one big one in the back yard before my caveman cowboy husband gets out his chainsaw. That will not be pretty. It has a big branch that is growing out over 2nd story deck and it's getting too close to the house. The coffeeshop is such a good resource. :-)
It's why I mostly only lurk out and about on the rest of the big, wide, Rolex forum. I always run back to the coffee shop to actually participate.

The tree on the right was like Lisa's, trunk and tree was covered in ivy. The tree was slightly bigger, have thinned it out. I cut the vines at the trunk and was hoping it would be easier to remove when dead. No way, was still welded to the tree months later. Was 2-3 hard hours work on a ladder to remove it all. So Lisa's one is a job for professionals.

Ugh... I figure you're right, Wes. Maybe I'll put it off a while longer.... the tree seems quite healthy.

Your weather in the pic looks like ours today.... cool and cloudy, showers on and off.

Dawna, I don't know what the vines would do once they were cut at the base. They've been tangled into the maple's branches for so long.... I suppose eventually they would decompose, but that could take years.

Dude deserves his fun.

Do folks in Oklahoma cut, split, stack and burn cordwood? Is it too warm most of the time to bother with all that work or do your winters warrant it? Do you have wood stoves and functional fireplaces? Not going to get real far trying to heat a house with a fireplace anyway but just wondering if burning firewood to heat homes is common out there like it is here.
With the exception of a tall dying pine tree that scared the neighbor, all the trees I've had cut I've kept the wood and heated my house with it. When Wendy's grandfather had some trees cut they chipped the small stuff and delivered the large stuff to my house and left it all in my driveway. What a job that was.

Quite a few people around here do cut and burn firewood. I would say for a lot of them use it for 'decorative' heat. ha It does supplement other forms of heat, but like you said, an open fireplace isn't going to do a whole lot for an entire house, but it sure does look pretty. :) Wood stoves are around, too, especially in rural areas. I see cords of wood pretty much everywhere in the fall & winter. Our winters can see some very cold temps, just not for very long durations.

As for the cowboy, I came home once and he had used the chainsaw INSIDE THE HOUSE. I can't even describe the scene.

I think Sparky Griswold's family pushed him to the brink of insanity. He was such a well meaning guy.

Found this company today close to home. Apparently they recycle gas from ferrell cats and turn into propane. Sound like a good idea, but the cats aren't too fond of it. I think it makes them wild.

There used to be a bridge across the MS river which was the main artery leading to the refinery where I work back when it was built in the late 1930's. The bridge was condemned, as no one used it with the new Interstate. (Not sure what year that was built.)

The old bridge is now a pier going about halfway into the river and we went there for the first time today:

And a couple of photos of the refinery itself...

maybe a possible solution to worlds energy crisis?

My idea was for everyone to have a few hamsters running in wheels, and harness the energy to power your household.

How do they get the gas out of the cats? Do they put them all in a big room and feed them cabbage and beans?

Lorraine, Amy and Penny are growing! We had 80-plus degrees today so they get lots of yard time to practice catching bugs.

No, I redesigned his wheel. It now has a door so he doesn't fall out. He can't come out until he's powered my washing machine, and dishwasher loads
