Strange. The 7750 in my Tudor chrono was flawless.

I suspect I hosed the date change on the 7750 by messing with it when I should not have done so. I'm leery enough now to just change the date by advancing the time.

I have gotten a bug up my heinie for a Grand Seiko Spring Drive. We'll see what comes of this and how long I abscess about it. Fortunately the AD is downtown and it's a royal PIA for me to get there, especially since we are expecting 6-9" of snow. It was 72 yesterday. It is now 36.

Welcome. It's more or less self-serve.

As you can see, it's hospitable here.

Welcome to the Coffeeshop Mo, I wish you to enjoy your stay and to participate a lot more to our fabulous conversations!

It's also more or less a Girls Coffeeshop. I'd like to say that we men are here to protect you ladies but let's be honest, not only are you girls very able to defend yourselves without us but you also have the ability of turning out want-to-be alpha male selves into terrified and crying little lambs without much effort...

And yes, hospitality is the best quality of this thread!

I'm more comfortable with the gals, frankly. More hospitable, yes.

And I was bad. I called the local AD for a price on a GS Spring Drive. I've known this AD for over 30 years. Not a dime off MSRP, plus 7.XXX % tax.

Just mail ordered it for $1,400 less than that. Should be here Friday. I may die of poverty but the ME will never get the smile off my face. Or the watch off my wrist.

What about me Bob? Aren't you comfortable with me?

I'm very glad to read you have just ordered a fabulous timepiece, congratulations in advance and I hope you'll be able to show us pictures soon!

P.S.: May I ask what ME stands for?

I'm guessing Bob's referring to the Medical Examiner.

Good score, Bob!

Sorry, I meant comfortable on this sub-forum. No intense offended.

Yeah, ME is Medical Examiner, as in the tv show "Quincy, ME" who had no first name, BTW. I was gonna say coroner but I think that would apply only in criminal cases. Of course what I have spent on watches IS criminal. The "other hobby" has a lot of "pieces" in it but none of them are near the price of a Rolex. And they don't require service every 5 years.

Anyway, I digest.....

Will post photos of the GS. I was reluctant to buy sight unseen, but you know the power of "I WANT..."

See, that level of kamikaze price shopping negates the next sentence.

Oh I see! I should have thought about that but my French Canadian self couldn't find a good way to interpret those two letters...

The power of I WANT made me buy quite a few watches on Ebay without trying them on. Although I prefer small watches some sizes were a tad risky since I had never been able to try anything similar in my life but I ordered quite a few of the ones I have in my collection without handling them and so far I've never, ever been disappointed. I'm sure you will be thrilled by the GS

P.S.: The comment about being comfortable was more to pull your leg than anything else, I sure am glad to see you around here my friend!

Don't pull my leg too hard; you might get a Pull It Surprise!

Sometimes I have people correct my misuses of English. Then I have to explain, which is tough. I DO need to be careful at work. Very bad form to send an email saying "I rectumend we set up a data warehouse as a suppository for our financials..."

Some of this I got from MAD Agamazine, some from Archie Bunker, for all intensive purposes.

Soon to dream about my new GS and 3 new Micah straps for the PAM 423. Well, that's what I work for.....!!!

Our own Mr. Malaprop! It's amazing how long-standing this is as a staple of comedy in English lit.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malapropism

My faves are the ones from The Sopranos. A few (courtesy Google):

"Quasimodo predicted all of this." -Bobby

"She's an albacore around my neck." -Johnny Soprano, about his wife Livia

Christopher claims that Isaac Newton created gravity after someone hit Newton in the head with an apple.

"Revenge is like serving cold cuts." - Tony

"A guy like that is going out with a woman, he could technically not have penissary contact with her Volvo" - Tony

"There's no stigmata connected with going to a shrink" - Little Carmine

"Create a little dysentery in the ranks" -Christopher

"You know, Sung Tizzoo! The Chinese Prince Matchabelli!" -Paulie

"...what with the passing of Vito Sr., and all that entrails." - Tony, psychologizing about Vito Jr.'s adolescent difficulties

"I was prostate with grief." -Tony

By the way, I forgot to tell you that last week I went to my parents' house for supper and in the evening my father asked me if I wanted to have a little jam session with him and my brother. Needless to say I accepted and we played for about 45 minutes, boy was it nice!

I play in my apartment sometimes but since I'm not alone I play with my headphones and the feeling it not quite the same, it was great to let the amplifier express itself properly and especially to play with a drummer and another guitarist, we had a lot of fun and I really miss those sessions (sometimes I'd play only with my brothers, we would just start a rhythm and keep improvising until we'd get tired...something that would usually happen a lot later).

I don't really know why I wanted to write about this but it was just a funny feeling when I played again this week, I like playing alone but letting myself go in my parents' basement was quite different, I hadn't played there in a long time and I do not have the chance of moving a lot in my apartment or stomping on the ground with my foot. I guess I was just feeling a tad sad as I'm much more limited music-wise around here...

Depreciated!

The Soprano's! I didn't get into it because I got homesick (for NJ) after seeing the opening shot of the Lincoln (or was it Holland) tunnel. i dismember it well.

Those were the good old days, back in NJ in college. I had a GF briefly. We were almost imminent.

When I worked for the state, I attended a memorial dedication and the guest of honor was a VIP attorney from whatever small town we were in. During his speech prior to the unveiling he kept talking about his stench at the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and then another stench in private practice, and a final stench working for the City.

There were some titters from the audience. He indignantly said, "Hey, I said 'stench,' not 'stink!'"

How did he get through law school?

Lawyers! We have one where I work. She's a member of the bar, but I wouldn't let her make me a drink.

Ah, the birds are singing, the grass is turning groin, the leaves are popping on the trees. It was 72 yesterday. Now it is 36 and snowing!

All seriousness aside, they have dialed back the snow prediction to about 3" but we may yet set a record for the snowiest May ever.

Tracking # received for GS. Now I'll have something to do tomorrow watching the progress. Hopefully the flight will make it in on Friday. Actually, the FEDEX flights come in about 7PM the night before. I can see their planes lining up for landing from my orifice window at home.

The Rodentwoman had an interview for a new job today. We CAN live without her income but it sure helps.

Does that mean that gardening, flowers and frilly stuff are only supposed to be discussed by women? I'd beg to differ!

EDIT: It seems like I misread that post of yours Bill, please allow me to change my post a little bit and reduce my sentence to a smiley...

I don't run but I'm pretty sure they'll enjoy the Girls Coffeeshop Power Tool of the week and the Girls Coffeeshop Annual Tractor desk calendar
