I would love to get a new stainless Daytona for 16/17K. Is that a possibility or wishful thinking?

I'm in when a PP 5167A is under 40k ... I can still hope!

I would wait for a few more months. Prices are dropping pretty fast as demand has vaporized. Lots of these are out there being held by kids with back packs and weak hands.

Spoke to a few ppl at an AD. One salesman agreed and said that secondary market dropping very fast while another salesman said their demand is still very high. Those two might not be related but I feel like they are: secondary market dropping should be less demand from flippers and thus more availability for people that truly want watches.

I’m impatiently waiting for a Daytona panda, but would hate to see a price increase before then. At $14,550+tax, it’s a $16K watch. If it goes up another $1-1.5K, it’ll simply become more difficult to justify almost $18K for a time piece. This is just me as I have not spent more than $5K on a watch until I got into the Rolex game getting a Sub for my dad few years ago.

Jeez, weren’t these like $200K just in February? And now only slightly above retail + tax?

The MSRP + tax(7%) in my country is around $38.5k USD

Kinda liking this... Hype and speculation killed the love for the hobby these past 4 years. Looking forward to prices going back to pre 2017

Retail is in the mid-30s without tax.

In the US, buying from AD is already at $16K. If you meant buying from AD, then yes, $16-17K is possible (long wait but possible). If you meant from grey, then probably, but I would think unlikely. Perhaps $18-20K is more likely.

Ah good clarification. I just check my local prices on Rolex.com and it’s about $45K with tax. But look how far it’s fallen from secondary market peak. Just amazing collapse in price.

These weren't $200k though, even at the peak. I think highest was $120k-ish. Still a huge drop, though.

120 was peak insanity.

I wish I would have dumped one of my pepsi's when a local grey was offering 24k.

IMO, before you see them in the secondary market at $16-$17K, the MSRP will be there at the AD. It will only take one more price increase and with inflation at a 40 year high I suspect an increase is on the horizon.

At the same time, Rolex can also decrease pricing. If Patek can do it, anyone can do it.

I'm still seeing plenty of "firm" priced listings.

I get a giggle. Today's "firm" and next weeks "bump" become the following week's "offers?"

I think they are, it is just that those 2 lines haven't intersected yet on the generic economics graph. Like others have said, it won't be an overnight shift when all of a sudden all cases are full to the brim. Imagine that a waiting list for a hot model has 120 people on it, and 50% of those people drop off due to [insert any number of current events]. 60 people are still on that list, and according to that salesman you referenced, that statement of "demand is still very high" would still hold true.

I'm always curious why dealers who deal in 5-6 figure watches make people pay shipping.

They always seem to make a big deal out of shipping labels.

You think that's petty all the -1 on the links. They keep them. Small enough it won't break the deal but if you are a volume guy adds up to big money.

Whoever is saying the market for watches are stabilizing is smoking some real real good stuff.

The prices on pretty much all pieces continue to slide. There is a brand new BLRO just dated last month for $17,350

These will be in the $16s and $15s by January.

Also has to do with liability. If I’m a buyer and I provide a shipping label with no insurance and the watch doesn’t show up that’s on me. If the seller is advertising a certain price “delivered” then the watch better show up or that’s on them.

Exactly. The classified section on this very site is full of threads that tell the story - "final" reductions followed by several more "final" reductions.

Full set 2015 5235G sold for 34k. I know it’s not one of the hot models but that’s a low number on that watch!
