Dawna, I'm so embarrassed...I totally forgot about the special last night and missed it. Do you know if Discovery Channel will be showing the special again in the future???

Watched the first episode last night. Was excellent, sad in places. Van and Alice had an interesting relationship going on. Must be an amazing place to visit. Looking forward to watching the next part.

Leo, you can watch the first episode on youtube.

Hi folks. I'm still alive. Just saying hi. Things have been a bit rough lately with so much going on, but FYI, we completed the 48 hour film project () and there I even have a Rolex story. But I have to wait until after work :-)

Disappointed to have missed the bear doc, but Dawna, now I see why you made Chengdu a priority when you went to China. I will get there next time.
Thanks for the heads up on the Discovery doc...I will keep my eye out for it on rerun.

Howdy all. Out and about buying plants for the garden. Now just have to track down good seed potatoes. I've given up on buying the expensive organic ones from the specialty catalogues. They sometimes do okay, often not...better to stick with what's proven to work here.

I remember buying potatoes in 50lb burlap bags in Somerset. I forget how much they were but something like $5 a bag all those years ago.

Er, probably not a word for a family friendly forum.

Just watched the 2nd episode, one of the best nature docs I've seen.

Amazing how close the camera crew/guides got to the bears. Extremely dangerous. Guess they know what they're doing.

I'm sure I will. We had black bears around when I lived in Maine. Cool critters. Furry. Made me want to roughhouse with them like I do with the dog. LOL
Probably not a good idea though.

Muscovies? Delicious!

Muscovy breast is quite popular over here.

That sounds alpha as hell! Is there any better way to spend your Sunday afternoon when you're a real man?

LOL. Wouldn't that be cool?
Muckle the bear around the neck. Grab him by the cheeks. Rub his belly. Scratch behind the ears. "Who's a good boy? Bear's a good boy!" Muckle muckle muckle... LOL
My dog loves that. Why wouldn't a bear?

I bet Chuck Norris could do it. Probably Daniel Boone too.

I will not mention the film Grizzly Man. Or will I?

In my book, one of the greats, but not for the faint hearted. I like to think that animal lovers on the whole know where to draw the line.

I know a little TOO much inside scoop about that Treadwell movie. Yeah, I'll leave it at that. :-)) I have been to the very place 'grizzly man' camped. Stayed out there for about a week... and yes, most animal lovers, conversationalists, naturalists, etc do know where to draw the line.
