In fact that's pretty much their longevity. There's only so much friction cheap plastic can handle.
Glad you like. Everyone smiles when they see it. And some just have to move their eyes that way, too. |

Anyway, it's been a long time since I gave up trying to troubleshoot what was wrong, and we've got two clocks stuck in drawers in the kids' rooms. You've motivated me to try again.... hope I can find them and hope I didn't donate them in a fit of cleaning. |

Lisa, yes of course.
That's exactly what has happened to mine when they get older--they keep time but stop moving. Then they eventually die all over. Very interesting idea about the lath. We have plaster walls too, but I never thought of that. My first one, black with an electric cord, is still running like a top in my daughter's house, and of course those vintage ones often still work. For me it's the battery ones that are the problem. I buy them because I can't have a cord where I put it. Maybe just cheaper construction these days. It's silly overpriced but still irresistible. |

Phoebe just found hers at the bottom of her toy bin! This one was from Ebay. The tail's around somewhere. So are the missing jewels. I remember having to replace a lot of them. Dare I plug it in?
Good old Made in USA. Our new battery one didn't work, either, J. From the day we put it on the wall it would animate for a few minutes and then stop. |

Awww the old ones are so great. Do you have the hands? I have a black one being retired, so if you need hands and/or tail I will send them to you.
Is that a metal plate on the back? Wow. Well, I'll hope for the best with the new lady Kitty. She's very active now! |

I use to the contrails of rockets launched from White Sands NM.....even close to 300 miles away in Phoenix with such dry air you could follow it up with binoculars.

What are those rockets for, Art? Cool pic!
J, I hope your cutie Kit Cat wags for years. I haven't been to their website in some time - wonder if they have more new colors. I remember it was really hard to decide which ones to get for the girls' rooms. Lime green was in the running. You know, I hadn't even noticed that the hands on my old black one are missing. Uh oh. I'm sure they're in Phoebe's room somewhere, along with that tail. |

Secondly, I did not say I eat eggs over easy...I eat them Sunnyside up(this is where you fry the egg slowly only cooking the whites but leaving the yoke intact but not cooked)!!! Say Hello to John for me.....Leo

Art, those pictures are really cool...almost looks like a meteor coming down instead of a rocket going up. I bet it was really something to watch the Space Shuttles being launched whether in the daylight or nighttime!!!
Also I know it must be a lot warmer down your way then here as the last three nights it's gotten down to 39F to 40F at night. I've had to use my electric blanket again to get through the nights without turning the heat back on..... Take it easy.....Leo

I'm excited for tomorrow as Pam and I are driving two hours West to go to a nursery, Hornbakers, who specialize in Hostas. They grow over 600 varieties of Hostas and we plan on buying some more Miniatures and getting replacements for three that didn't make it last year. They have beautiful Trial Gardens where they display all the different Hostas(mature clumps) they sell...I plan on taking lots of pictures. Also they have a Dwarf Ginkgo Tree called 'Mariken' that I am buying to add to our gardens. This tree will grow to be 8' to 10' tall and be bushy, we are buying a very small one that will be about two feet tall and they are expensive little guys. It will be hard not to buy a lot of Hostas but knowing we do not have a lot of room left will help in our decision process!!!
Take it easy.....Leo

Thanks, yes the shuttles especially at night were something to see. They were visible for quit sometime as they headed east out over the ocean. You could see when the fuel tanks would fall off. I remember seeing the one that blew up. That was a very cold morning in January.

Art, I remember that bitter cold day in January when the temperature here was well below zero. I know my heart skipped a beat when I watched that ill-fated launch and my stomach felt nauseated.....

I was on top of a building watching. It was very clear that day. We had no radio with us but it was obvious that something was not right.

Hope everyone's having a good Sunday. Beautiful afternoon here in the UK, especially when the ice cream van comes round.
