Good evening Coffeeshop!

Got a day off tomorrow so I thought I'd check in quickly to wish you all a great night.

Art, those pictures are, as always, wonderful! Thank you for sharing them!

Have fun with the coins Leo! You know I'm a small time amateur of old coins myself but I must admit I'm more tempted (right now, that is) to hear your opinions and views on pens! You know I have two right now (a pen and a mechanical pencil) but the other day whilst walking around the old port with my lovely girlfriend I saw a few handmade (in Montreal at that) pens with a very, very nice MOP pattern on it, the colors were simply incredible and they looked great with the light tone of wood used in them. Hadn't it been for my better half's popped out eyes when she saw they were 145$ I would have purchased one right away!

Keep us updated with your coin collection as well as your writing instruments and I'd love to read more about your idea of getting a new watch.

Welcome to the Coffeeshop Em, I hope to read a lot more from you around here, have fun and do feel comfortable to share anything you'd like to with us, we love to chat about everything!

If you remember I posted a picture of my Datejust in one of your threads, I hope you'll find a beautiful one soon for you and that you'll enjoy it, it is a great model.

Hey, Lisa! Thanks for the welcome

I'm interested in the 31mm Datejust. I'm currently driving myself crazy trying to decide on what dial I want for it though! I was originally debating between a champagne dial with gold Roman numerals or a champagne dial with white stick markers. I have always been attracted to the champagne dials. I think it is because my grandmother's gold president has a champagne dial.

Hi Em,

I know you've already gotten a ton of feedback as you figure things out. No matter what you see online, nothing beats trying things on at an AD yourself, even over several visits until you're settled on a choice. At some point, you will have a compelling attraction to a real watch you've seen, not just pictures.

Welcome to the Coffeeshop!

Hi guys. Just trying to keep up with gardens and animals as usual. Things are lush but very beaten down from a big storm we had. Luckily, the wind didn't materialize.

I personally find my Datejust pretty easy to read (as easy as the other ones) but this is indeed something one should consider whilst shopping for a watch. It's kind of pointless if you cannot read the time on it...

You are, as always, very right Jay! We always like to give opinions as much as we can but at the end of the day one must take a look at the actual models (or, at the very least, actual pictues of them first) before making up his or her mind. I know this trick has helped me liking a lot of watches I wouldn't find that attractive before (in magazines or in catalogues, for instance).

Glad to see you posting every once in a while.

Hi, J!

I plan on seeing the watches in person before I make my final decision. I can't wait to try them all on and see which one "speaks" to me. I would love to see a wristshot of your 31mm Datejust if you have a chance!

And thank you for the welcome!

16013 two-tone with a champagne dial and stick markers.

Carl, saw the new Superman film today. Hmmmmm, definitely epic in scale. Lot of great stuff, but also a bit too many explosions, and action dragged towards the end. Very different from the original films. Well worth seeing though. Saw in 2D, the 3D is retrofit, and heard not that good. Also some great music by Mr Zimmer.

Thank you for the review Wes! I must admit Superman has never been my favorite but I've seen the trailer for that movie and I may very well give it a try myself. As for Zimmer, the man is a legend! He's able to make tracks that fit particular scenes of a movie so very well.

I had a nice folder of my watch pics and it's gone, gone. I can't imagine what happened. I will try to post for Em when I get over my few other things to take new pix.

Glad to hear the Superman review. I was really let down by the last one I saw, which was like 2006 or so. Somehow, it's hard for the pretty boys they cast now to capture the self-effacing wit that Chris Reeve put into that role.

Hope everyone's ready for a great weekend (or is in process of one now).

Yeah the 2006 one was crap. With Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder handling this one I thought it was gonna be amazing.

I though the new guy Henry Cavill did a good job. Brit guy I've not heard of before.

Carl, I know you've been working out a lot in your apartment. Is it true they approached you first for the role of Superman, but you turned them down to concentrate on your watchmaking studies?

I read the script and told Christopher "well, it's a cute story but where's the part where I put grease on a mainspring"?

...Anyway, they kind of found me a bit too muscular for the role...

In all seriousness, I find that Nolan's movies are very, very good and well made. It seems like he knows how to make us understand, see and feel a character's emotion and he knows how to write a great story with interesting details. I'll definitely keep this movie in mind, I'll let you know how I like it.

P.S.: Regarding working out, I'm far from being anything close to that man...in fact, I'm far from having anything that looks like a muscle...

I barely had the time to make this one whilst I was alone in the house (my mother came home quite early so I didn't have a lot of time), you may call this practice more than anything else but I hope you'll like it...

Wes, this one is for you.

P.S.: At some point I say "it's been a long time since I haven't" when I know it's not the proper way to say it, that awful mistake (which is merely one among many others...) and the long pauses in my sentences when I speak make me realize I should definitely consider writing a text or practicing my introduction speeches when I make those videos...

Thanks for that Carl, very much appreciated. Amazing playing, and it's just such a great quality sound coming out my laptop speakers.

But you could of turned the lights on. And loved your waffling at the end, sure the ladies will find that cute.

Listening to that, Carl, I'm thinking Skynyrd.... though I do have a very untrained ear.

A great listen - the guitar as well as your voice!

I take back anything I said earlier to Em.

Thank you very much Wes, I appreciate such compliments from a musician as talented as yourself.

...Oh, and I do love waffles indeed!

Thank you kindly Lisa! I must admit I've never got into Skynyrd though as I've never been a big fan of the band, I should probably listen to more songs to see if I agree with you!

As for Em, I do hope she's going to read that post of yours...and more than once!
