Wes, as for your Clematis, I would not put netting between the Trellis and your fence as I think it will get so entangled in the netting that it will cause problems down the line. As a suggestion if the trellising you put up it a tighter weave of lattice(think of interconnecting pattern of squares of wood or diamonds or it could be a metal frame)just secure it to the fence with 4inches(10cm.)to 6inches(15cm.)between the Lattice trellis and the fence.....the Clematis will then entwine itself around the lattice trellis and then just check it weekly to make certain it does not attempt to grow through and onto the fence. As the vine continues to grow just take any wayward vines and weave them back onto the trellis.....
Also if you can give me the name of the variety of Clematis, I can look it up and give you further information on it's specific cultural care requirements. Your Hardiness zone is much warmer than mine so you have many, more variety of plants to choose from and be able to grow in your climate over what will work and grow for me. Plus your growing season is longer between the Frost Free Dates.....lucky you and of course where Art lives(in Florida) his growing season is a lot longer than ours here. As he can grow tropical plants outdoors all year round where in my climate they would have to be moved inside or die once Fall and Frost start to occur..... As an example Petunias are a perennial but in my area they are treated like annuals(tender perennials)as the Fall Frosts and Winter kill them...but down in Florida they live all year round. Many annuals which only grow here in the Chicagoland area in Spring through early Fall will live all year around down in Florida..... As for English Ivy(Hedera helix-comes from Europe and a very good variety is 'Baltica'), known for being Evergreen and used as a Ground cover, there are easily over 600 cultivars and varieties propagated(and each year more are being hybridized and introduced to the market) throughout the world. Make certain that the one you choose is Hardy for your Hardiness Zone/Climate(I would stick with either the true species and or a cultivar which is Hardy)otherwise once Frosts come it will be killed off. Now...they are funny growers as they will grow up structures such as trees and brick on homes but they do have a mind of their own. The vines all on their own will begin to grow up structures but they can and will be happy just to grow along the ground as well(when we moved into our Co-op a previous owner had planted English Ivy and it was content to grow along the ground and it was over 20 years before it decided to start growing and climbing up our brick exterior). So if you want it to climb you will have to provide and give it assistance by training and securing it to your structure. Eventually it will use its Aerial Rootlets and Matted Pads(specialized plant parts)to continue growing and will secure itself as it continues to grow. But remember these Aerial rootlets as it clings to structures such as brick will dig into the mortar between bricks causing damage to the mortar and brick...so be careful. It will take years before the damage becomes a problem but it will cause damage.....as these Rootlets are very strong Also English Ivy is Dimorphic meaning it has two forms. One is the Juvenile form where they are vinelike, climbing or growing along the ground and non-flowering(with three or five lobed leaves). Then they develop and mature into the Adult form where they flower and fruit, the leaves turn a darker green and are not lobed. The plant adapts very easily to most all soil types and will grow in full shade to full sun(they can also take some abuse). As with all plants remember to fertilize and water on a weekly basis especially if you do not get enough rain!!! Take it easy.....Leo

Hiya Karis! I've been spending the day cooking and last-minute cleaning for guests tonight. Most of the feast comes from right outside the window. Oh, and the flowers are beautiful now...arrangements of orange tiger lilies, fuschia pink astilbe, tall gold coreopsis, and sun cups flowers.
A quasi-Mediterranean menu featuring lamb, spinach, herbs, and garlic scapes from Chez Chicfarmer. lol Hope everyone has a good weekend ahead! |

I just like a phone that's easy and does a few things. I mistakenly thought I wanted something very customizable the first time I got a smartphone. Turns out, there are better things to do with one's time.
May your learning curve be short! |

Just read the directions. They say, yes, you can take a pic and text it but they don't say how to do it. I guess they figure people now are born knowing this stuff.
I am from a different time period. |

Thanks. This will keep me occupied for a while. I'm happy that I took my sons advice. I was going to get the Samsung whatever it is, the latest one. He told me don't do it that I would never figure it out.

My buddy had one of those. It used to cost him $700 a month or something like that. Believe it or not I do have the email down.

J, dinner sounds delish...and love the flowers(do I also see Hosta blooms in there as well?) if we lived closer I could give you some flowers to add to yours and between us we could really...Wow your company with flowers in every room.....even the Loo!!!
Hey if a plateful is being offered how about a "doggie bag" packed with ice packs and shipped over.....I'll pay the shipping and send you a gift to boot.....sorry no pink dial DateJust tho( I know now you are disappointed)..... not in this month's budget.......oh almost forgot, do you know the trick to add sugar to your water and the flowers will last longer? Just use some hot water to disolve the table sugar and then let it cool naturally or assist it along by sticking in freezer or fridge..... Take care and enjoy your home cooked meal(even though you did all the work).....Leo

Thanks, Leo. I am fiddling with it and learning. The directions that come with it really don't tell one how to use it. I have a nest thermostat and it was the same way with poor instructions.

As for Texting, first enter the person you want to text with their Mobile number in Contacts. Then as you scroll down under the phone numbers you will see a rectangular box for Send Message, one for Facetime, Share Contacts and Add to Favorites. Touch the box for Send Message, a box opens with the person's list of phone numbers, touch the one for Mobile and it will take you to where you can type in your message and then send. Now on your first page of Applications there is a Green Icon with a White Message Circle and it just says Messages...this is where you keep track of people you are texting with...if you want practice with me!!! Wait till you learn how to down load websites to your App screens, make folders and send pictures from your photo library in a text or Email..... Have fun.....Leo

If you double tap an area, it will zoom in, so double tap the little log in cell and it should enlarge so that you can type. Just press and hold your finger down in the cell and the cursor will pop up. It's easier than I've explained I promise!

Karis, you are doing just fine.....you can also take your thumb and index finger put them together like you are going to pinch and then making contact with the screen, spread them apart and this will enlarge what is on the screen. Then move what's on the screen around till you get to what you want...it's actually easier than it sounds.....
Also you can download Tapatalk or Tapatalk 2 from Applications Store for a cost and use it for surfing Forums. But a word of wisdom buy and use a Apps. Gift card and use it to pay for downloads otherwise you will have to give them a major credit card to pay for downloading Apps. From the store..... Have fun and enjoy.....Leo
