I've been reading what y'all have said. The Explorer II I'd be looking at is older, in the 40mm size. The GMT is beautiful, but I'm really wondering as to whether it would look "dumb" on me.

Maybe just spend the day either in the AC or in the pool.

Lisa-the pottery dates to the early 1940's. Somewhere I saw a site showing the Stangl patterns, their names and dates but I can't find it now. Somewhere in our kitchen is the infamous "milk pitcher." As kids my mother would bitch us out if we put the milk bottle on the table when we had our cereal. We had to put the milk into this pitcher first.

(Back in the day the milk was in bottles, no cardboard cartons until....I forget the year. Milkman delivered the bottles @28 cents a quart.)

I'll post a photo if I can find it.

The older GMT's are less "blocky" then the newer one's and more on the scale of the Ex2 that Lisa shows on her wrist. There was a few nice GMT's for sale. The thing is about them, you would not lose value on those unless the watch became damaged. I have been playing with the idea of buying a nice pepsi colored one.

Here is the milk pitcher, not that it brings back fond miseries:

The first photo is from a website selling the item for $60. The second photo is mine.

My mother was rather bitchy, constantly fighting with my father and in all candor I must say that my childhood wasn't the happiest, certainly not helped by my bullying brother, whom I have nicknamed Foole.

Mikki, I'm sorry your "Fibro" is acting up because I do understand and it does limit your activities and can be very painful...I feel sorry for you.......get well soon!!!

As for the GMT, I really like the one I have and its advantage is that the bezel insert rotates unlike on the Explorer II. And if the 'Coke' or 'Pepsi' bezel insert is not your style you could always get the "Black' bezel insert.....

When I bought my GMT I really did like the white dial Explorer II but in the end I decided I wanted the advantage of the bezel insert rotating and had always wanted the 'Pepsi' bezel insert since I was a little boy(for over 40 years) and saw them...so the GMT Pepsi won out!!!

Good luck with your decision and the Win-Win is that whichever one you decide on there is no wrong choice to be made!!!

Take care.....Leo

I'm really going to get into some insane trouble over this....

I just bought a blue mini-sub on FleaBay that's been authenticated by the brilliant people here. A good deal. AND a GMT from Kanger (the no bracelet one for 3995 that I figured was at a price I could never beat) AND a good friend who is a great watch guy is lending me a polar ExII to see if I like it, and if I do (next paycheck or so) he'll give it to me at a steal.

Must.....stop.....shopping.....forever.....bad.... bad....Mikki....

If you don't hear from me for a few days, I've snuck off to the circus :-)

Would like to see it. Thanks, Bob.

My mom was like that, too. You had to use the right glasses and the correct bread plate and the matching blah-blah at the table. Might be why I'm kind of anti-etiquette these days.

Heh...a Win-Win-Win for me and an Annoy-Annoy for husband :-) This one has a Coke insert. I'm thinking maybe pink would look good :-)

p.s. Fibromyalgia is unfortunately something that so far has no cure. I have good days and bad days, like anyone else with chronic crap. I just wish I had advanced notice so I could plan better.

p.p.s. I got one of those UP bands about a month ago and have been tracking my exercise or lack thereof, monitoring calories with myfitnesspal.com and am hoping to see improvement. So far, have hit all caloric goals but have seen no movement re: weight. Haven't given up yet though.

Thanks for the pics. It's very pretty. My mom had a ton of dishware, china, crystal, and so on. I wasn't interested in keeping any of it for sentiment... I'd rather let someone else use it.

All that food looks great, but I am eating leftovers to clean out the efrigedator before The Rodentwoman goes to Europe. Then I am on my own for 2 weeks and I'll either starve to death or gain 10 lbs. Probably the latter. I'll be doing my own food shopping for the first time in many many years.

Mikki, good for you...you work very hard so it's okay to play hard and watches are bringing you happiness and joy. As long as your husband/partner doesn't mind...that's all that matters. If we do not buy ourselves rewards then who will!!!

Enjoy all your new watches and it sounds like the white face Explorer II will fit right in.....so next on the agenda will be a watch storage box/or safe to keep them in. Nice and cozy on their individual pillows surrounded by a plush interior and an exotic wood box to hold them all together in one place!!!

Take care and enjoy the 4th and tell the 'Fibromyalgia' to take a hike.....Leo

Oh...I forgot to ask.....what job are you angling for in the Traveling Circus???

Art, you are cooking up quite 'The Spread' for your guests and family...everything looks fantastic and if I think and imagine hard enough I can just smell that food cooking. Can I have some of the shrimp(I do not eat very much...maybe two or three) but if you do not mind and I'm not being rude...I'll pass on those couple of Turkey Burgers!!!

Say Hello to the family for me and us here and wishing you and yours a fun Holiday!!!
Take care and enjoy.....Leo
