It was a fun Fourth. Thanks for the good thoughts, Carl and Wes. Spent the day with my sister and we drove the falcon downtown to watch the fireworks. We're doing a cookout over here tomorrow.

Mikki, hope you feel better soon. I can't imagine what it would be like to live with that kind of pain. Hoping your new watches will create a little diversion for you.

Rodent, hope you fare well during your wife's absence. Hang out here and we'll keep you company.

I trust everyone had a good 4th of July...the fireworks were fun last night. I think until the day I die I'm going to love seeing them go off in the night sky.....we bummed around yesterday afternoon and went to two bookstores...the new Watchtime has an article on the DateJust II and the Tudor Heritage Black Bay. Now I have some reading to do between the Watchtime and Garden magazines( Horticulture and Chicagoland Gardening).....

Thinking on older dishes Pam had a chance to get her Mom's everyday dishes(I do not know the brand)which had roosters and such on the plates and bowls and she turned them down so her sister go them. I still would like to have a set of Stoneware dishes made by my friend Phil...as he said he would do them for us!!!

Phil and Ramona's Website is www.thorncreekstudio.com so check it out as their work is phenomenal. As I think I said I have pieces of Phil's work spanning over 40 years and he made our wedding bands which are thick 14k gold...one of a kind matching bands back in 1978.....in August we celebrate 35 years of marriage.....sometimes it seems like yesterday and wonder where the time went!!!

Take it easy.....Leo

Wow.

Saw yesterday the world record for hot dog eating was broke in New York. Joey Chestnut(who apparently is the Usain Bolt of competitive eating) ate 69 hot dogs and buns in 10 mins. Quite an achievement.

I dunno, I doubt he really cared what type of meat. Wonder if he had mustard or ketchup on them.

Wow 35 years. Congrats.

Dude, you have to learn the phrase: "Hello, do you deliver?"

I use it every time Wendy goes anywhere whether a trip to foreign lands or just down the road during meal time hours.
Hell it's not even worth firing up the grill for feeding one person. Naturally not everyplace delivers food but even the take out place delivers a smile when you pay and leave.

Mine will be gone the same time. The fridge will be full, meals cooked and labeled in the freezer. Like you, it has been many years since I have shopped for food. So, why don't you come here? I won't be around much, you can hang out and watch Lucky the beagle for me so that I won't have to check in and let him out or board him when I feel like staying out. I was going to invite Wes but could not find an interpreter in time.

Actually it will be fun to get stuff The Rodentwoman never cooked, like swordfish, rib eye, and lamb. I may have to get some bespoke monogramed French-cuff shirts and rent a German car.

Nah....
No, don't do that, I mean about the shirts and cars. Two of the people yesterday had a little something with them, one in her purse.

Wes, thank you...we were married in August of 1978 on the 19th day and we lived together for three years before we got married. It been one heck of a ride and we are still going strong. We've been gone all day and just saw this post. Went for coffee at Starbucks in the later AM and then spent the afternoon and evening at the Chicago Botanic Gardens.....

They had a very nice Art Fair in the evening and I bought a couple of Garden Ornaments, a small aluminum folding stool with a snap-on cotton canvas storage holder to carry tools when I am Deadheading, Weeding and working in the Garden. And I also picked up a hand made Sterling Silver Bracelet which looks very nice on my wrist(Carl you will like it...Drool... ). There was everything from Jewelry, Framed Photohraphs, Ceramics, Handmade Candles, Wood items like kitchen cutting boards, Paintimgs, Lawn and Garden Ornaments to Hand Blown Glass...all with a Garden type theme. Very nice to excellent quality handmade items!!!

Take care everyone.....Leo

It's been a great weekend. Thurs. was off, of course, and we hung out with the daughter and her boyfriend, who is really a nice guy. They took a road trip to Chicago. Friday I had to work, but quit early and had our regular Friday TV night with some good friends and some good wine. Yesterday, my step daughter's AC died, and it was hella hot, and we demanded she and her boyfriend come down here and spend some time in the pool and cooling off, which they did. Picked up 3 watches from the local watchmaker, who is super cool! (My 1960 Day Date, the original YM that started this whole thing, and an old pocket watch I really like but had died... no longer :-))

Today I'm spending most of the day trying to organize some 35,000 photos (and that's just the ones in electronic form...ooof). It's really a royal pain in the butt, but somebody's gotta do it :-)

Oh, to relax.... I no wanna go work tomorrow.

Sounds like everyone is having a good weekend. Been a scorcher here (30C/86f) bout as hot as it gets. Guess it's hotter where most you guys are. And nobody here has air con(apart from cars) You'd only need it for about 2 days a year. So will struggle to sleep tonight, might sleep in my car :)

We don't celebrate 4th July. We have a couple bank holidays in May and August. Nobody knows what they are for.

Have a good rest of weekend everyone.

Yay for a Brit winning wimbledon.

Sure, that red sauce in the small container is hot. The green is mild. I have some good hot sauce at home from S. American and am always open to try something new.
