Silly season in full swing at Red Bull as Dr. Marko saying that Sergio Perez is not a guarantee for 2022. In fact, he specifically pointed out that Perez has only scored 2 podiums which includes a win at Bacu, but only because he inherited it from VER who had a tire blow out with 6 laps remaining. Marko more blunt than usual saying that Perez has tried the settings Max uses, but once the rear end steps out on fast corners, Perez doesn't like it so he has to revert back to his own settings which makes him slower.

Perez and Pierre Gasly are still in the mix for that 2nd Red Bull seat and a rumor is that Bottas may get a shot at it. Personally I can't see Bottas getting another premier seat. Max is a once in a generation talent and it's going to be tough to put someone next to him that will be even close. Ricciardo was the closest to him when Max was just a pup.

Will Buxton is on record as saying that he believes Perez will be at RBR for 2022, but RBR will make a hard push for Lando Norris to jump ship at McLaren and join Max at Red Bull. Personally, I don't see the upside for Norris is pairing next to Max either or leaving an up and coming team with McLaren where he will be the #1 and future.

Marko says an announcement will be made at Spa or the Dutch GP.

I think RBR is better off just sticking with Perez. No matter who they throw in that seat, it’s going to be a disaster. If they get a top tier driver then it’s going to be massive friction between teammates with potential crashes. If they put in any other driver thats pretty good but not great, then there’s always going to be bad performances. You’ll just need to hope those poor races are races when Max is killing it and doesn’t mess up his win.

Can’t imagine Norris in any conversation as he signed some ludicrous long deal with McLaren(five years?) and the car is doing well and he seems happy being the numero uno. Also, don’t think going to RB will be to his liking, a seat where he is expected to be number two in every metric.

This and Sergio has done everything by the book and accepted his role very well imo. Helmut is annoying and trying to stir the summer vacation pot haha

Perez announced as renewed for 2022! I think it was pretty well expected by most but still. Glad he gets some more time to settle in and potentially make the most of that RB chassis, the last few outings have not been impressive.

Gasly needs to start looking outside the RB program. He has no real shot at the RB team anymore.

Completely agree. Gasly is a good driver, he shouldn’t be stuck under the RB team for any longer.

I like Daniel Riccardo honestly, but with a so far bad season at McLaren I really think that would be a good fit for Gasly. Norris is pretty cocky and Gasly having been quite humbled over his past F1 seasons I don’t think off hand they would clash too badly. Gasly is still young and wants it badly enough as well. I think it could work well.

Agree! Rain is the great equalizer and Russel has put in the hard work at Williams for 3 years (1 more than I thought he should have spent there) and been doing more with less. When he finally has that sweet Mercedes underneath him, he's going to give Lewis a hard time.

Saw a report today that quoted Toto as saying the decision on the 2nd seat has been made but they're not announcing it yet. Based on the presser yesterday with Bottas and Russell, it looks like it's Russell's seat for 2022 and beyond.

Agree about Gasly as he has really impressed at Toro Rosso/Alpha Tauri with podiums and a race win. Don't know what else he could do to get a shot at that 2nd seat. Let's not forget that Gasly only got 1/2 a season at Red Bull compared to the 1.5 years Albon got and now the 2 years Perez will get. For my money, Max is the best driver on the grid and being paired with him would be tough sledding for any driver.

Conditions for tomorrow as expected to be the same as today. This could be EPIC!

Far short of full distance…but in about an hour, the helo won’t be able to fly. No helo, no race.
