That's why I sold my Daytona. I don't really miss it but it was a very comfortable watch.

How dare you guys trash talk poutine! Le best meal ever!

In all seriousness, I haven't had one in years but I really do enjoy it. Whenever you feel like eating junk food it's always a good side dish to steamed hot dogs.

P.S.: Rumor has it that this dish, pronounced the same way you pronounce Vladimir Putin's last name, got its name from French Canadian truckers who, with their lovely lovely accent (I would know that...), would ask the cook in fast food joints in which they used to get meals to go to give them a portion of fries with gravy as well as some cheese. They then got the idea somewhere that both could be mixed (I believe the poutine's origins are not from Montreal, they're from another place but I cannot remember which one) and started to ask cooks to put in the cheese...apparently it's a true story!

But the guys I worked with up in Toronto always headed for Chinatown to eat or for some Indian curry...some of the best I ever ate was up there.

Good to hear. :-) You came to Canada, & I went to NC to work. LOL I lived there for almost 7 yrs. I loved the south. Had to come home or else I would still be there today. :-)

Don't quote me on that one though, it's probably as true as all the other stories relating the origins of the poutine...

Just say a French Canadian told you this story, it'll sound more realistic...

No.....we would goto Chinatown to eat Chinese food.....The Indian place was down Steeles Ave
IBM was on Steeles and the Indian place was a just mile or so away from what remember.
Chinatown was a ways out.....but I never drove.....I was just along for the ride.

I am a French Canadian but I do know how to speak English. I grew up in a part of the province that had a majority of Anglophones and I speak English quite often at my job as well as when I'm at school since we have a few students who only (or almost only) speak English.

Once they took me to some Mexican restaurant around IBM to see how I liked it compared to Tex-Mex or Arizona style food back home. I told them guys next time you are in Phoenix Im going to take you to eat real Mexican food.Their mouths would drop when I brought them here to eat and for them it was a little to spicy. Id tell them you said you wanted real Mexican food and this is it.
Out of 4 of them only one really like the real hot stuff like me....its not for everybody.

Greg, when I lived in Durham, NC...there were Mexican restaurants everywhere. Toronto doesn't know authentic Mexican. LOL I cant handle spice myself (shout out for Prevacid..wooohoooo!!!)... but I know what authentic is like. LOL Funny, when we finished a shift we all used to go out for Mexican. The guys were hot and very flirty. One night my buddy and I went out, we ordered the same Margaritas (came in a fishbowl size) and I was getting bombed, my friend wasn't. He took a sip of mine and his eyes crossed. LOL The guys were making mine stronger. hahahaha So everytime I ordered a new drink, my friend did too. Then we switched when we got served. LMAO... I didn't need the booze to appreciate the handsome guys that worked there. I got to know 1 or 2 of them. LOL ;-D

Carl, what made you go into watchmaking school? A hobby you thought would become a career? I love jewellery, love diamonds, even learned about them but cant find a way to turn my passion into a business. In the meantime, I work as a nurse. If I could channel my energies into something productful, I would end my nursing career in a heartbeat. Well..no pun intended. LOL

I spent a many days there also in Raleigh Durham with IBM ...
Four kinds of Mexican.....CA style which is pretty mild, AZ style which is hot
N.M. style which is bland to me.....and Tex Mex my fav
Houston has some great Tex Mex places along with Cajun which is my new fav food.
I would weigh 400 pounds if I ate Cajun stye food everyday.......and I could.Cajun style bread pudding is to die for.

I like it! A sales guy at an AD sort of near me but closer to Lisa, has a very impressive Breitling collection. Great stories behind all his watches. Makes me want one!

Hi, Carl. Whew, I have some catching up to do in this thread. No, it wasn't the micro-adjustment... it was the pin that actually holds the two parts of the folding clasp together. Here's a pic. I was in a hurry earlier and didn't provide accurate detail. I put the pin back last night thinking it stood a lesser chance of getting lost, and I've pulled out a little to show you. Ew, that metal looks groady. I don't know if it's worn or corroded or what... super macro is not kind to old watches.

In theory, it almost makes sense. Fries/ketchup, you know. But in reality.... um, not too sure about this!

Which reminds me, in my free-association state fueled somewhat by this nice little glass of single malt, that I bought a loaf of tomato-basil bread at Panera yesterday but someone at the bakery must have been confused because the bread has a cinnamon glaze on it. It is not a good combo with the tomato/basil. At all.
