How cool would it be to get a timeless watch from someone we respect and admire. I appreciate you opening up to us (TRF) as it was enjoyable to follow along and who knows when that nice watch may be coming your way. It wasn't about the watch or the cost of it, it was about who it was coming from. Whether it comes in the form of a Sub C or something else you are a good a man and I thank you for sharing, it was fun for you to open it up to us when you didn't know what the result would be. Cheers to you!
Well said.

Dan, I for one enjoyed the thread and thank you for posting it.

That will get you banned, congratulations

This thread started like a response to a question, "What do you think you will get for Christmas?"

It was as simple as that.

The original poster was not saying, he deserves to get a SubC for Christmas, or that if he doesn't get one for Christmas then he would think any less of his Father-in-Law.

However, because certain members have pre-conceived notions or morals about the original poster or pre-conceived assumptions that the original poster had some lack of true feeling about the spirit of Christmas and possibly misinterpreted a smilie the thread goes off on some wild path that was never intended.

You are not the self-anointed purveyor of this discussion or this forum or of anything related to it.

Your assumed allegations are false and are in themselves a direct insult to the forum, which clearly evince your intentions to create false perceptions.

You can go somewhere else and say all you like about TRF, you'll be in like company so you should get along.

I watched this thread with interest from the moment I read it and found myself enjoying the possibility of Dan becoming the great beneficiary of a generous FIL. I perceived it as a fun adventure of sorts and I too found myself pulling for Dan. It was all good natured fun and about giving during this great holiday season. That's why I enjoyed it. It was too bad some folks missed the point I think of Dan letting us share in his possible good fortune. Christmas is about giving and receiving and I found the thread again entertaining and fun. I for one hope you keep us posted on this possibility Dan. New Years's Day is right around the corner TRF is a great community of folks with a shared passion for great timepieces the world over. So let's enjoy our passion, have fun while we are doing it and respect each other along the way. I'm still thinking it would be a great New Years present

I think this would have been well received HAD you actually received a watch and it was posted after the fact it actually happened. not before. you come off as a ?????????????

I've read this from the start and found it very entertaining, from the first post I just knew it was going to end in tears/anger/jealousy....

We're in hard times and receiving a $$$$ watch for Xmas is going to ruffle some feathers, that's just the world we're in at the moment....

I really hope this thread has enough steam to last until May so I can see if a birthday present is in the cards. I have been seriously tempted to write something controversial just to make sure it stays alive!!! Politics anyone?

As enjoyable as I find this forum, I haven't logged on for a couple of months as I find the posts somewhat repetitive at times (no offence).

I thought I'd take a look today however and seeing this thread has been refreshingly entertaining! I wish there were more like this!!

I can't see what problem people have with the OP or the content of his post?! It seems that some people who have responded have relished in the fact that he didn't get the gift he thought he may get.

The OP wanted to contribute to the forum with something that he thought would be taking place. It hasn't as yet and as a result it looks as though he's having to mildly defend himself to some of you haters out there.

Good luck to you Dan whether you get the Sub or not.

To those quirky hating-types, goodnight and godbless.

Rock on Dan, I always find your posts good natured and funny. Keep the faith man, he might be messing with you and give it to you on a later date.

I TOTALLY DISAGREE. If he had of posted the scenario after having been given the watch it would have changed the angle completely!

I don't think I would have found it as interesting, not to mention that there have probably been many posts on this forum that have told a story that has been changed for entertainment purposes.

The fact that he didn't get the gift just makes it more realistic. If I'm totally honest I thought it was a given he would get it. I fast-forwarded through the whole thread to get to what I thought would be the inevitable pics. When I didn't see any I went back to the start and read everything from scratch.

If/when Dan posts the update in the coming months where he actually gets the watch I'll be far more engaged.

What does he come off as then????

Thanks for the mostly positive feedback guys. For the rest, well I feel sorry for you.

No need to follow this thread until May. I'm going to have a talk with my father in law and let him know I have no need for another watch as the LV is just fine.

Now......where is that bar at........................
