Good catch - 42mm GMT2 built with the Explorer 2 case?

I still think it's too soon for them to steer away from the maxi case on the GMT but would love to be pleasantly surprised. With the natural progression of size with the Exp42 and it being well received, at least by its owners, I think it's just a matter of time we see one.

The question remains: Did they finally pull-off the bi-colored insert and if not what color insert will this new GMT have assuming it's a GMT?

Unfortunately, I think we've all overhyped this and should prepare for inevitable disappointment.

What would they call a 42mm GMT? I guess GMTII just like they kept ExpII for the Exp42?

My thoughts exactly. Many of us were eagerly anticipating something totally different than the Skydweller that was eventually unveiled.

I will agree on the two tone or new tone ceramic BUT, knwing Rolex's past history, I say we are looking at a WG version. Basel releases from Rolex on new models are always on prime metals, SS models are introduced later.

Ah.. May be a toss up for GMT / new color. I think if it is just a new color insert...it would be steel. All new watch - then Yes YG vs white...but I prefer white!

Haven't we already got a GMTII? Surely a new version would be a GMTIII?

OP had stated 42mm which would surely qualify it to a new version, i.e. GMTIII?

It would be funny if it was just another bling sub or GMT and got all crazy over nothing

Ah right. Sorry.

Perhaps. It's just that the GMTIIc hasn't not been around that long - by Rolex standards.

Which in my mind makes it even the more unlikely that we'll see any real update to this model, apart from maybe a dial/bezel change. I just don't see it, but we'll find out soon enough.

Agree. If the GMT is updated - insert only.

I agree with a lot of what has been said above. I am actually holding out on a bi-color SS GMTIIC at 40mm. I think the green GMTIIC has run its course as it's supposed to be an anniversary piece. It's time to go back to the original configuration of the GMT albeit in an updated model. I don't see them releasing the GMTIIC in platinum. It's just a metal that has never been used in the past on the GMT and makes this unlikely (though not impossible).

I am putting my hopes into an understanding of Rolex history. My presumptions are the green GMTIIC was only a temporary release (like the LV Sub) and now if you want the GMTIIC you are going to get it back in its original configuration (not sure how many bezel configurations they will do).

Agreed. It would be a bonus if they taper the lugs but keep it at 40mm. GMT has a tad more elegance to it as a pilot's/traveler's watch (which is why I don't mind the PCLs).

The Explorer II is more outdoorsy, designed to be maximally readable which is why the 42mm size seems appropriate. Also Rolex has clearly given you an option already if you want a GMT watch at 42mm or you desire a white dial.

GMTII-C/42mm would be a winner in my book, not a fan of PCLs but I'd pull the trigger in a heartbeat for a bigger case on this particular Rolex model!

What are you smokin? They just re-did that not too far back. Subs/Gmt/Exp will not change.

Only thing left is Daytona....

It’s either some form of GMTII or a brand new model, period. The triplock crown with the same size dots tell me that its a SS model.

I pray that it’s a Pepsi GMTIIC but it’s probably just going to be a special model with a green bezel to match the green gmt hand. They figure since people liked the original LV so much that this scheme will sell.

Either way, I cant wait to find out for sure.

Gmt

I think the GMT C was 2007 or 08. What's wrong with an evolution or update to a 42mm case to keep it in line with the EXP 42, Sky Dweller etc. Even the Day date and Datejust is 41 mm now. It's only fitting the sport models have islightly more presence than the dressier DD and DJ. In my view the Sub should evolve to 42mm also.

There are smaller cases for smaller wrists like the 39mm Exp I.

GMT Master III at 42 with red ceramic bezel and red hand?

Full bordeaux red bezel ---- bi-color bezel still not technically feasible/practicable.

Remember the ruby red patent application posted a while back?

Yep. Single color (Red) GMT maybe. Hope it stays at 40mm tho.

Well, 2007 + 6 years is a short time by the Rolex calendar ;-)
