Hey Guys:

Another year has rolled around and the old surfer is still hangin' around!

Some of our best surf this year was linked to some major hurricanes that did severe damage, especially over in Florida...

Our problems are minor compared to the devastation there in the panhandle area...

Everyone be safe, and let's make it to the new year in better shape....

John, what an amazing story. I remember reading it a while back. My sea dweller on a nato strap has been with me surfing in many countries and in all kinds of conditions, but nothing like your adventure! Stay stoked stay young.

I didn't post this pic with the first set; I was afraid it would scare everyone away! This is what you look like after 14 hours in the water....

Heck I have looked worse after a night out at the bars. Incredible story, it doesn't matter what your motivation is as long as it works and is positive. Thank you for sharing!

And to think I was just going to give my son my rolex (probably). Now he can work for it and learn how tough one can be when the situation presents itself.

Next Thursday is the 5th Anniversary of "the event". I thought I would do something special to celebrate my good fortune.

First of all, I think I will wake up Les Huddleston at 2:15 AM...he's the guy who DIDN'T shoot me when I woke him up that fateful morning...

Secondly, I wanted to mark the date for posterity for whoever ends up with my watch when I finally do kick the bucket....

I'm not a big fan of engraving Rolex caseback's, but this date is EXTRA special IMHO.

So, to thank Tome Selleck for his input, I used the name of the 1983 episode from Magnum P.I. ........ "Home From The Sea"......

The date is pretty straight forward: 10-23-2009

So I found a jeweler that specialized in engraving and had lots of previous examples to prove his worth; he got it back in just 3 days, and the results are very nice.

If you ever find yourself in a real jam, use your head, don't panic, and get yourself out of the mess. Then go out and buy a nice vintage Rolex to celebrate.

It worked for me!

I was going to suggest the same thing!
Great story!

Hey Guys:

It is now the 10th anniversay of "the trip to the oil rig" !

Unfortunately, CBS has taken down the video from my link and you will have to use your imagination as to what was said.

Bottom line is that life is good, make the best of any situation, and if you can fit a watch into the picture, it's even better!

Be safe,
