I have done it meney of times, been to a store with £6000-£7000 in cash in my bag to buy a watch and if I don't like the store I will refuse to buy from them! It is an exsperance and to had over the cash you would like to do it knowing that you will be going back time and time again to buy more time pieces, now I don't go to larger retailers but more independent stores because you know they value your business and it's not just all about the commission, I use mark worthington jewellers in Winslow Manchester he is amazing, stocks
Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, hubolt, Rolex! I would highly recommend them!!

Great News!!! Really happy to hear that!!

It just depends what you want. You are buying from an AD and you'd like it to be nice. I see no problem with that at all. My AD did that well. Nothing fancy, but a bottle of water or wine/champagne if I wanted. I still buy all my wife's jewelery from my AD.

The experience was ok, but I get a bigger thrill out of a good deal now.

I couldn't care less if the watch came from a vending machine . I hate that whole fake rich vibe when your at a highend dealership or a high end jewelry store. Show me the item ,Let's strike a deal , shake hands and call it a day

I find it amusing that someone can complain about the low standards and lack of class while at the same time ordering a diet coke....

what do you mean Rolex experience though? you are buying a mass produced watch that is sold everywhere, I mean I agree with you that the experience you had was FaR from satisfactory and does not meet my minimum requirements if I had been treated like that I would not buy it there, no date subs are available elsewhere, pick the shop u like or go grey. But do also manage ur expectations too.

Exactly the faux treatment as if one is the President is off putting. Just show me the watches, I will get refreshments on my own time, own dome and at an establishment I choose.

They didn't open the coke! Did the salesperson at least wind the watch for you?

I think this has been my favourite thread on TRF in a while (not that I've been here long).

I think people buy into the whole "Rolex Experience" way too much. You're buying a solid, mass produced, mid-range watch, not a 100k Patek. I'm sure a lot of ADs will go out of their way to make it an enjoyable time, but it seems like people expect them to wash your car, give you a massage, pick up your dry cleaning, and walk your dog while you're buying a watch. It's insane.

When I bought my first Rolex watch in 2002 from an AD,I turn up in ripped jeans, stinky t-shirt and Rigga boots!
The sales man asked can I help you,I said yea sure,I have come to collect a watch that I have ordered,he looked me up and down and said, sir what sort of have watch have YOU come for! I replied Rolex sea dweller! His face was a picture! I love to turn up at these sort of places looking like s**t and splashing the cash! As my dear old mum used to say don't judge a book by its cover!

I go to an AD to buy a watch, not to have some nobody lick my a**e!

Ok Ok
So your all taking the piss now!

We all have different views and opinions yes but being able to afford and own a Rolex means more to some than others.
When i was growing up we never had much and being able to own a Rolex would have just been a dream.
But i worked hard and now i have my own company that earns me what i consider to be good money.
This is my 6th Rolex now and all i was saying was that everywhere i purchased one in the past was a great experience and this store needs some help.

So take the piss all you like but it just shows that maybe you are the ones with no class to keep responding in this manner.

You usually hope that people who didn't grow up with much would appreciate the finer things after achieving success. That they also wouldn't forget where they came from and maintain some level of humility.

Or they can throw tantrums about an unopened can of soda while paying thousands of dollars for a watch. Something the average person will never achieve.

Sorry, but if that is what you consider class, you can keep it.

You're talking about others responding having no class, that's fresh. Let me just remind you that you took the time to write that having a diet coke served to you in a can and not poured in a glass was being served "like you're a peasant".

Did I just read 7 pages of 200 posts about an AD experience? What's wrong with me BTW, my AD makes mine shaken and not stirred!

I haven't read the whole thread, but the first few pages have made me smile. Perhaps if the OP had put a deposit down on a platinum Daytona the staff would have poured the coke into a glass.

I can appreciate the context you've added for your viewpoints on this particular AD experience. In the end, everyone wants to be treated with R-E-S-P-E-C-T and that concept ultimately differs from person to person

I think you are over reacting, but it's your money and if you don't like the service you are in your right to go somewhere else.
Personally all I ask is for friendly, professional treatment....and a good deal. They can keep the drinks I never show up thirsty its not a restaurant or happy hour .

If it was your first Rolex, I could maybe sympathise a bit. But sixth!? Just get in there, try it on, pay, and get out. And sipping free drinks in a jewellers isn't a classy scenario, whichever way you look at it, IMO.

I am also UK based and the chain dealers here don't have the best service (in general, I am sure some branches are ok). I deal with an independent AD. However when picking up a watch I am usually in the store for about 5 - 10 mins. I just want my watch. I look it over, have them put it back in the box, I pay and leave. Don't even have them size it, had too manage damaged screw heads in the past.

You go in expecting an experience but not a bad one. So far my local a d gets 10 out of 10 in customer service. And I am fussy customer with ocd traits and demanding style of customers come first.
