Unfortunately nowadays it is virtually impossible to get a hold of a S54 engined Coupe in Europe. The first cars from the last production run already turn 20 this year and with less than 280 LHD cars built there are not many left.

As stated in another thread I drive a 2019 E wagon (just ordinary version). I still adore that car. I love wagons and somehow Mercedes really hit the nail on the head with this newest body shape.

My dream car is 2021 AMG 63 E Wagon. Can't afford it though. That car is absolutely bonkers fast. And it's a wagon. :)

I see the winter shoes stacked in the background. I let mine (not an M) sleep during salt season.. I bought this new 4 years ago and can't come up with a good reason to get rid of it...usually not a problem for me.

They are great machines! Every time I sell a BMW and try a different brand. It’s not too long till I’m back in one.
My wife has driven hers through 3 Chicago winters with no problems. The right tires really make a difference.

Fully detailed cars are the best! I do enjoy giving our rides some TLC but having a couple of professional detailers work on each one for 3 hrs is the great!

My Dad bought this car at 11 months old in 1996. It was the Jaguar MD’s wife's car. We’ve had it ever since. Only done 28k miles and never in the wet! A few non-standard items including no brightwork and wheels usually seen on US models.

There are some AMAZING dream cars here. Here's my humble offering to the thread.
My 2012 base Tacoma 4x4. It's a good little truck and does the basics. I call it the luxury of simplicity and reliability. If I ever get rid of it it'll be because my dog hardly fits in it and I'll trade it toward something larger for him but likely just as plain.



Wife's car: 2018 Toyota Rav4 Adventure. She LOVES this car. It reminds her of the gray 1988 Corolla hatchback she had when we started dating.


The coolest car in the family is my son's 2019 VW GLI 35th Anniversary.  He bought it brand new 4/2020 at the start of the pandemic. He got all kinds of great incentives including the recent (under)grad discount. He'll finish his MBA in the spring. He's not a car guy so he'll keep it stock but the plan is that after it's out of warrantee and he's moved into something new I'll buy it from him and throw some mods at it just for fun. The 35th is basically a GTI with tuned suspension and a trunk. Lots of potential and aftermarket support. Might be fun.

I am very curious about your lift and that's my favorite part of your photo!!
Can you share what brand or model it is? How tall are your garage ceilings? I have a 3 stall garage and my predicament is with 3 little boys and bikes/toys, they have a propensity to scratch the cars with handlebars and stuff. We now have a Q7 and a Q5, and then I keep my Saab convertible in the 3rd stall. So far we have avoided scratches on the new cars over in the 2 stall area and I would absolutely love to be able to elevate the convertible like that when it is not in use and then have storage beneath it. For the winter a set up like yours would be absolutely perfect for my situation. That's exactly what would solve all of my problems.

When you had it installed did you have to change your opener configuration at all? I have seen some wall mounted openers that eliminate the need for the upper track.

Those are all the right things to think about. My lift is a BendPak HD-9XW...9,000 lb capacity, taller than standard and wider than standard. It is over 8 feet between the posts which I wanted because it is so close to the 8 foot wide door for my 3rd bay.

I have 12 ft, 9 in ceilings so I didn't bother changing to a "jackshaft" opener. When I built the house I had the door tracks follow the wall and hug the ceiling because I had the lift in mind. I can raise the car to get 6 ft under the lift runways and still be well under my opener. The lift manufacturer usually have online calculators for minimum ceiling height.

I actually installed it myself but I am a DIY guy by nature. I occasionally do oil changes and other work on it but mostly it's used for storage.

My car is only on the lift in winter. In summer my ATV and it's snow plow alomg with a few other items are usually on it. Like everything else I see it's gone from $3000 in 2015 to $4600 today. There are somewhat cheaper brands and much more expensive brands. If you have a week you can read a few threads on GarageJournal.com

Your second photo would be a great configuration for me during the summer months because it would allow me to park on the ground but then be able to get a lot of the big things off the floor that are taking space in the other stalls. I have a commercial 33" wide deck walk behind mower that I park in the garage, my snowblower, and some other large items could go up on top of the lift for sure (winter wheels with snow tires, spare OEM wheels not being used but kept). Then in the winter when the car is elevated those can be back on the floor. I am charged with re-organizing the garage and reconfiguring storage as an incentive to be able to keep my summer car. I'll have to spend some time over on that garage site!
