Macs are the BESTEST!

I've been so busy trying to get things off the ground for my new business. I've decided that if I don't get a new job by October 1, it's all systems go for my own law/government contracting company. Business plan is complete, and soon I will go for investors or an SBA loan, or a bit of both.

In other news, child is installed at school in Holland. Yay! I lost my Macbook Air in the house for 3 weeks and JUST found it (another yay) and I'm still alive. Just thought y'all might want to know.

Wearing the polar Explorer II today. Expecting new end links for the leather strap on my GMT. Still waiting for Michael Young to finish my bands (it's been a LONG time), Rikki to finish some watches, and finally for Bob Ridley to get my other two back to me. Then I'll be FINISHED! Yay! Won't be buying anything else for awhile (may sell some though) cuz I'll be broke.

New website up and working. Send me a PM if you're interested in seeing it.

Hope y'all are doing well. Soon I'll have a lot more time, but right now, work is kicking my butt until the very end. Damn economy. Grumble.

Hiya Mikki! Hang in there. Sounds like you have a solid strategy put together. Hoping you won't have to sell any of your beloved pieces.

Have fun! I wish I was there. I would be catatonic with all the bling around me.
Thank you guys! The place was very nice and quite big but unfortunately I wasn't allowed to visit other stands...

Allow me to explain: visitors had a green badge and were either students from the school, teachers from jewelry schools or potential buyers who registered themselves a few days before. Exposers, however, had yellow badges and weren't allowed to visit other stands as they were competitors (in case somebody has a special product and doesn't want others to copy him...kind of strange methinks as you cannot quite take pictures in such place but I don't make the rules). Some watch dealers (mind you, they weren't very impressive timepieces or haute horlogerie models) were more open minded and would let us take a look (my teacher spoke with one of them the day before, therefore he knew him and I could take a look at his watches without any problem) but diamond and jewels traders wouldn't let us in their stands so I didn't take the chance. I did take a look at them while passing by them and some seemed to have very impressive pieces!

The stand was nice but very small and in a corner, there was nothing to complain about as it was given to us and not rented but we didn't have a few visitors. Still, the ones who indeed came to us were very interested and were looking for people to hire in the near future or, perhaps, interns for a few weeks. My teacher got some business cards and phone numbers!

Oh...and my teacher noticed my watch today...he asked me to show it to him and upon looking at it he said "nowadays this would be considered a ladies' watch"!

...He does have a point though!

Indeed Wes, apparently there was some incredibly nice stuff! There were even some tool traders who were selling a lot of things as well as a stand selling a watchmaker's bench for only 400$...the only problem is that you had to leave with it that very day...

As for my teacher, that's exactly what I tell him whenever he doesn't want to approve one of my exercises...

Hi Mikki.. Congrats on starting your own business. :-) Takes a lot of courage and sanity. LOL I wish you well. I would love to see your website. My gf is just starting her articling now for 10mths. Jobs in Toronto are becoming very scarce. She may need to consider her own practice even as inexperienced as she will be. She has written her 1st part of the bar and passed, just waiting for Oct to come around so she can write part #2. Im so proud of her. She is 38 and went after her dream and is her 2nd career. :-)

Carl, well.. your feedback does sound somewhat positive and Im glad you enjoyed the experience. I hope a name on one of those cards decide to call you. :-D

Too bad about not getting to look at the jewellery. When you figure out its the right time, let me know. I will steer you in the right direction. :-)

Karis.. NO doubt...get the 15". If the unit is primarily a home based unit and you don't have to lug it all over the place, do the 15.. is a sweet size. :-)

Lunch today was fantastic. My brother and I were sizing our watched up all afternoon. My nephew was beyond excited that his meal came in a paper canoe (Montanas restaurant, Ontario). His meal was free cause it was Tues. BONUS. LOL We had a nice time the 3 of us. I got my nieces snowsuit for Christmas today and will work on my nephews snowsuit tomorrow. He fell in love with a Spyder outfit in clearance. Size wasn't right so I'll try to hunt one down at the other locations. I only have them to buy for. LOL

Got a call ..their furniture is in. I bought the kids their furniture. Young America ,, Abigail full suite with Belcourt bed for my neice and for my nephew since he already had the converable crib and long dresser, I ordered the nightstand, hutch over the dresser and a tall chest. I cant wait for all this to be delivered. Probably in the next couple weeks. My brother needs to be home even though the store's delivery guys will set up and remove the cartons. :-)

Will look great!

Jud6yolas is gone with the wind. He said he was in the USA, but his IP address came back as being in Japan. That's a sure sign of a troll.

Too bad, the amount of looks-legit smileys in his post made me thought he was such a nice guy...

Thank you for your good work Ed, it's much appreciated.

It was a tough call, Carl, but it seemed to be in the best interest of the troll to escort him to the door of this establishment.

Ladies watch?! It is a small sophisticated timepiece that would make a lovely dresswatch and it can also be worn casually.

Thank you Bas! His comment was more about watches' sizes in general today and in the way it was said it wasn't meant to be something against my watch, I just thought it was quite funny as it shows how times have changed!

Another friend of mind commented on my Ulysse Nardin, he found it beautiful but once he tried it right after his 40mm+ chronograph he said "oh wow that's...very...small", it's quite a contrast when you go from a very big watch to a tiny one but at least it makes my watches unique to me.

...Besides, my girlfriend can always borrow one every now and then!

Good Morning To All,

I trust that time has been kind to you all as I read here and play "Ketchup".....but hold the "Chips"...
Everyone appears to be happy and enjoying their lives...and what's all this talk about "Watches"...you'd think this was a 'Forum' or something.....

Life has been good, as the Coin Show was Fun(and very long days) and last week I was playing "Catch Up" in the 'Gardens' and Transplanting Perennials outside and also Repotting many of my Indoor Succulents(who are all outside enjoying the Summer weather).....nothing like fresh air!!!

I have had to 'Battle My Longtime Friend...RA' and finally gave in last week to seeing my Pain Mgt. Doctor(but he was gone for the week to New York to receive a Prestigious Award from his Peers)to finally get off of Hydrocodone(which is a short acting Schedule III Narcotic Drug)and start using a High Potency, Schedule II Narcotic such as a "Pain Patch". I saw him this past Monday, the type I'm using to get started is a 72 hour Duragesic(Transdermal System), containing 25 mcg/hour dosage of Fentanyl. Fentanyl, is a Synthetic Opioid, which is approximately 100 times stronger than Morphine and he said I can increase the dosage to 50 mcg. or 75 mcg. depending on how well I can do.....I have been stubborn for years and did not want to give in to the pain but after 29 years..."I'm So Tired".....

I know that many of you also have "Chronic Issues and Health Issues of Your Own" that you deal with on a daily basis and I also know there are no, "Bed of Roses" or "Guarantees in Life". But each day brings New Opportunities and Possibilities and I want to be able to have 'Some Value and Relief' so I can partake with and enjoy living each day...striving to 'Give of Myself', and Love my Wife, Pam and Family and to all my Friends!!!

"Okay Rant Off".....

Wes, Thank you for your well-wishes and 'Piano Concert' and to everyone for their support...as those years went by in a 'Flash'. Pam, as all you Ladies are, is an amazing Woman who among other Attributes brings Joy, Love, Happiness and Strength to our Partnership and Marriage. I Love Pam Dearly, and am grateful and fortunate to have her in "My Life".....

Well, that's it for now as I still have 10 pages(I'm up to page #699 and August 20th) of the GCS to "Ketchup On"...and Yes, I have been reminded that I need to 'Post Pictures' of Pam's new watch and my new/old 'Pocket Watch' as well as some 'Garden' pictures.....but these will have to wait cause it's time to go and water the 'Gardens' before the sun comes up and all the Flying Critters wake up and pester me!!!

Take it easy.....Leo

Good to see you again, Leo. Fentanyl is one of the big guns in the pain med arsenal. I hope you get some relief from it.

Mikki, good luck on your new venture! I guess it really is true that when one door closes, another opens. You've certainly made the key for it.

Judy, we have the 15 inch screen and it's excellent. Vastly improves readability. Congrats!

Carl, I don't understand when people get all goofy about what's a "man's watch" or a "lady's watch." If you're a man wearing a watch, it's a man's watch. All there is to it!

Wes, no eggs yet. I put a dummy egg in their nesting box as was recommended on the chicken forums. How they know what an egg is is beyond me since they've never seen one before, but I guess there's some programming in those tiny little pea-brains of theirs that makes them think, "Oh, that's really nice. I'd like to make some of those come out of my rear end."
