Nothing fancy or amazing. But got a new daily. Giving the QP a break.

Plus my son will be driving in a couple years, feels like a good one to get him going and trained up in. Also the manual transmission will stop him from texting. Lol! Hadn’t intended on getting an older Mini but it was too good of a deal to pass up. First Mini and actually really liking it so far. Slow and stick but feels nice.

You nailed it it’s funny how much faster the 720s is compared to the 570s

Almost bought a 12C years ago… any experience with those? Problematic?

I’m thinking it should keep him concentrated.

Thanks! I really appreciate the kind words. It’s funny how polar opposite the gas lol age between the two it, but I suppose it’s to be expected. The Mini may pay for itself in gas money really.

Question to those of you lucky to have owned multiple modern Ferraris. I currently have a modest collection of sports cars - my preferences are pretty diverse but I generally buy to keep. I have driven several Ferraris but have never pulled the trigger for various reasons.

I came close to acquiring a 360 CS and an F430 scud. Also in the mix was a 12C. Somewhat different cars, I know, especially the 12C. I also really liked the 355 but couldn’t comfortably fit in one (6’3”).

My rationale for looking at the CS and Scud was because they’d be 6th or 7th cars they’d only be driven from point A to A (not used for anything other than pleasure drives)… I wanted cars that were raw, and “event” and didn’t care about creature comforts.

Now that I’m a bit older (40s) and with a family I am thinking once more about adding a Ferrari - will still be an A to A vehicle but reliability, quality are a bit higher for practical reasons.

Long way to get to my question; what are your thoughts on a 458 coupe or spider as a “one and done” keeper? As I said, I buy with the goal of “permanent” ownership, or at least to pass along to my kids. In place of the 458, any other recommendations?

458 is great.
My advice, get the newest one with the most warranty you can afford.

Newest 458? Do they vary a lot by model year?

Afford is tricky - I can afford a lot more than I’d like to spend :-)

One key decision would be spider vs coupe. I am usually a coupe guy but have owned a few convertibles. I understand few tradeoffs for the 458 between the two… so may lean spider despite the premium.

Newest Ferrari is what I meant. If you can you really should just go for the f8 spider

I haven’t had a lot of issues with my F cars. They just need to be driven. I love my F8, but you can’t order a new one anymore. Shoot, you can’t even order the 296’s anymore. The orders books are all full.

I think the F8 will be a “keeper” while the 296 will be a daily for a while

Ah, got it. I’m a sucker for NA and have no particular desire for latest/greatest or fastest etc. F8 is a lovely car but I think the 458 is more up my alley (also prefer it to the 488).

Well they’re (458) a ton of fun and beautiful. I also think you can buy them right and enjoy them for a while without losing a ton of money.
Good luck

I LOVE the 458. My gosh. What a sexy car. Not over the top either. Perfect lines. Amazing NA V8.

I had one. Sold it during my squirrel phase. Now they are so expensive it would hurt too much to buy again. It would cement the loss in a most dramatic way.

But imho, it’s the Ferrari to get.

Only caveat is I like tech. I like all the new bells and whistles. But dang. What an incredible car.

(I love the 430 too).

Get the 458…..key word you used in your pre requisite EVENT. This car will give you that. Here is a pick of my beloved 458 Italia 2015.

812GTS. Drop top front engine V12. The last of its kind. I've owned multiple Ferraris over the years, last one being a 488 and believe the 812GTS is the pinnacle of the non limited edition cars. If you go 458, spend the extra money for the Speciale.
