Speaking of aging eyes, I'm off to the optical shop to pick up me bifocals (frame broke so they've got a new front piece). Have been wearing an old pair of single-vision glasses and must admit I've been peering over them to see anything closer than two feet.

I've been researching to get my first Rolex and have narrowed it down to the one that makes my heart go pitter-patter :). It's the one in my avatar - Ladies DateJust with chocolate dial, diamond VI, and ss/everose oyster bracelet. Man, it is a thing of beauty! Something that occurred to me today, and my one big question for you, is if it's too fancy for an "every day" watch? I guess I'm asking just how much of a beating a Rolex with diamonds can take, and how out of place it would look given my lifestyle? I wear mostly casual clothes and am a very active/athletic person (triathlete, hiker, lift weights, etc.), so jeans and t-shirts or workout gear is the norm; however, I also do get dressed up on occasion and REALLY dressed up several times a year.

Oh, I can only afford one watch so choosing a dressy AND a casual one isn't an option

Your experience and opinion are most welcome. Thanks for your input!

Welcome!

The DateJust in your avatar seems like a good allround ladies watch to me.

Carl,
Those hats do have it pretty rough. You should see the shape some of them are in at the end of the day. They have to get steamed and shaped on a regular basis. We have a hat steamer in the house. (much to my esthetic dimsay) See, we even take good care of the hats. hehehehehehe

So far I am able to get away just wearing the cheap readers, I can see distance just fine.

No, I'm saying that you tell time as well as I do without my glasses!

Thanks.... glasses do sort of camouflage the wrinkled eyes....

Buttercup, I think you'd be happier with a non-diamond bezel DJ if it has to multipurpose with a casual lifestyle. While I think the one in your av is stunning and would be thrilled to have it, it would worry me to have that bezel for everyday. But there are DJs galore that would work, even (dare I say it) one with a fluted bezel and an Oyster bracelet: The Oyster says "sporty," the fluted says "va va voom."

Lisa: I'm in the nonlined trifocal stage of my doddering. It's weird, I really need mostly just reading enhancement, but it helps with some distance. I fought it for a long time with just using reading glasses but hated whipping a pair on and off constantly.

I hope not necessary, either. No one said anything at all, I just happened to be thinking about it and sometimes in my little world bubble, I forget to remember that not everyone sees things the same way as I do at all times. Hard to imagine, I know.

Totally non bitc#y, J

Speaking of rodeo, did ya'll see Grumpy Badger's (Mark) pics of his attempting to break one of his polo pony colts? Pretty amazing!

Certainly not necessary Dawna to mention this, but nice that you did. After you posted that I did stop to think about the events and animals at a rodeo, being from the UK, it is not something that I'd ever given a second thought about. I did google the subject, and also knowing you a bit confirmed to me that these animals are treated with the upmost care.

Now I understand why you mentioned it. I know that in some places around the world there are sports/events/displays involving animals where there is cruelty, which is sad.

Anyway hope you post more piccies up in future.

Well think of it this way: it can also steam hot-dogs very well!

I did and was very impressed, seems to me like Mark sure knows his way around with horses.

Yes, although does make me winch looking at them pics, lucky that horse didn't land on him, then he'd really would be grumpy.

Hi All..miss a day miss a lot around here.

Didn't know there were this many aging eyes in the shop. I went shopping last night to kill a bit of time and let traffic die down before attempting to get back home and had to take off my bifocals to bring the price tag up to my face. The salesgirl who was about 18 just looked at me. LOL I felt like a geriatric for sure.

Wow.. my allergies are really acting up. Oh well.. Reactine here I come!

My MAC came yesterday! Finally. I haven't opened it yet cause as soon as it came I left yesterday. Im going to open it just to make sure all is ok with it. If I don't have any legal mumbo jumbo to do then I will at least have some peace to play with it.

OMG..Im wearing jeans. The hot weather is gone! Holy smokes summer was almost non existent this year. Oh well..heading to Cuba soon.

Buttercup, also check with Tempoking, a seller here. He was also great to talk to. :-)

Partly. I have some Oliver Peoples frames that I just love - this is my third pair of the same style, but I did go from black to tortoise. They broke at the bridge and my optical shop replaced just the front part and reused the ear pieces. Got new lenses, too, as they have a two year warranty and were a little scratched.

Cuba? Vacation? Fill us in!

Tempoking/Anastasios is a straight-up dealer. He bought my old Explorer II recently. He's a trusted seller/buyer.

Our climate is the stupidest on the whole planet.
This weak started like any other late summer week with temperatures around 21C, now it shoots up to 32C for 3 days only for it to go back to under 20C.
I'm going to move to the northpole, this is rediculous. (yes I'm a big whiner)

That would be a cool day in Phoenix ...normal is 45C to even 48 or higher
Hottest day I even experienced was in Lake Havasu AZ it was 128F One fine late June day. The Colorado river felt icy when you jumped in when its that hot.

I'd love to visit Arizona in that weather, but this is the Netherlands, it's supposed to be rainy, cold and miserable(Scotland seems perfect, it's always raining there) and we're not used to/adapted to warm weather.
