It was as though... guess what... he's pissed that HAM is far better than he is and so decided to sabotage the team by purposefully hurting Mercedes' chance to win during the race / maximize points.

i personally feel BOT should be removed from his driver's seat at Mercedes immediately. He is choosing not to help the team any longer. i wish BOT well with his future endeavors.

10-12 $million a year....team player?

"Go faster, VB"?........."nope".
"Block Max, VB"?.................."nope".
"Abort, fastest lap attempt, VB"?............."nope".

Good luck, in your new team Valtieri.

Oh come on. VB has done more for this team then they deserve. To be called; in public, a #2 shows how little the team respect him. Toto and Lewis are lousy people.

Looking forward to Russel coming in and trouncing HAM on a regular basis. If HAM doesn't win the title this year he won't win another.

Close enough

Very excited to see how it goes for him. Would be SUPER interesting if he absolutely kills it for them. Kind of like how good Gasly is doing since he went to Alpha.

The Official Formula One Thread!

Merc wouldn’t have continued their constructor championship streak after Nico left without the consistent driving BOT provided.

He played his ‘Ginger’ role to HAM’s ‘Fred’ dutifully; often shadowing, dancing backwards, and in high heels. Never forgot how teamwork worked. Kudos…

For those unversed in the currency of the paddock, he is loaded.

During the race yesterday BOT couldn’t break out of 15’s on the first set of tires and fuel load. The split strategy was not his choice.

But he is fast…had the FTD late in the race at a 12.5 (even after lifting in S3 when told ‘abort’ due to purple S1 & S2). Damn that James radio call; but for that, we’d have seen an 11.something. Then HAM did an 11.flat on final lap - VER’s best was 13.2…

Nothing so deeply interested me during that race - BOT throwing down the gauntlet for an extra point.

Problem with Bottas is he's fast over one lap and can actually compete with Lewis for poles but nowhere during the race. Lewis and Max can consistently put in fast times over each stint while Bottas just lags behind. It's not uncommon for Lewis and Max to just drive off in the distance racing between themselves leaving Bottas behind.

Not sure if this is sarcasm but the watch itself looks good on his wrist, I’m not entertaining Max’s personal appearance while relaxing on a boat. The man can do as he wants, he’s a Formula 1 race car driver, not a fashion model, the public is fickle nowadays, everything is judged, specifically why I said his “wrist”.

I prefer the Gold Daytona with a tshirt, shorts and flip flops.

Lols, true , but unless specifically dated, who knows when the photo was taken and we don’t know the terms of sponsorship. Daniel Craig has been spotted wearing a Rolex, while Messi and Lebron James have regularly wore watches outside of their sponsors or watch related business arrangements, it happens….
I just think that Daytona is a nice watch, and a good photo of it in the wild, forget all the other stuff.

So will Russ be in the seat for the next race? He already has raced in the car.

I can’t imagine a scenario leading to that. But…stranger things have occurred. Maybe if BOT tests positive?

Toto and Lewis have showered praise on him, and well deserved it is.

Mercedes delayed the announcement while they made sure he had a competitive deal signed. They have looked after him.

In a way they have, but it’s generic, much like the way Lewis congratulates Max when he wins a race. I feel Bottas was mostly used and under appreciated. He did everything asked and was a victim of the most incredible bad luck events coupled with huge MB xxx ups either by some crappy strategy or out right wtf moments like the tire nut that wouldn’t come off and this stuff always happened when he was in contention for a win.
MB have used him and now hung him out wet. Alpha isn’t a competitive car and a shame for someone with speed like him. With Russell coming over the narrative will be different since he’s now the future golden boy, will be interesting how they position him along Lewis next year. Remember, no matter what, there’s a number one and number two on any team and the only unknown is whether the drivers obey that on the track.

I think this is going to be tough for Toto to manage with the new British driver for next year. I cannot see George bow down if he is very close or faster than Hamilton. Things could get very tense in that team.....I predict a lot of drama which is great for all of us!!

It’d be the best thing for MB if RUS radios-in during first 2022 race: “Lewis is slower”.

And the telemetry confirms it is so.

The classic swapover call…
