I went to Sixth Form between 16-18. No bunking off or your parents were getting a phone call.

Uni was a different matter, in the 2nd year I went to visit my girlfriend in Italy who was doing languages, for a week during term time. Got away with that one.

Well, you don't need it, Bas. You're better with English than most Americans are. Even better than some of the British, like Wes, who frequently use words no one understands.

Besides, you're studying online every time you come here.

Tis is true, we mostly find Europeans talk really good English, they are very lucky. Whereas our English has evolved, well I dunno what it has evolved into.

I don't think you'd like to speak English with me then, as I probably sound exactly like Wes (in terms of accent that is).
I've practiced English a lot over the past 5 years and I can now speak with a proper English accent.

Europeans are generally pretty good in English, but a proper neutral/american or english accent is hard to master for many Europeans(especially for Dutch, German and French people), and you can therefore often here that they are from one of those countries.

I didn't like that so I started practising to get a proper accent.

Hi all...Just catching up. :-) Those new pics of Wes and Carl are throwing me off.

Skipping school? Oh My! Have we learned anything in our older age about that? I think so, we got away with it for the most part.

Im having trouble with TRF... Im tethering my phone to my computer cause the house Im house sitting at has no internet. For some reason, TRF is slow to load and is often booting me out. I havent had any issues with other sites Ive been frequenting. So I will try to get on and as least try to keep up with everyone.

Carl, I am not sure if my Congratulatory post came through or not, but congrats on 3 yrs here.

Art, that picture is lovely. Thank you for sharing.

Be on my own internet in a week.

Sounds like you do a lot of house sitting Judy? Sounds a pretty good gig to me.

You are not looking after any more pets though are you?

Yup, I think I did.... Wow, I would have preferred your arrangement though!

We got out at 12:30 to work also.....work was graded like a class by the employer.
My High School had about 2800-2900 kids so it was easy to skip......

I think they also know I need a break from the stress of home and theyre doing me as much of a favour as I am dong for them. :-) Im not a professional house sitter although some have told me to get into it. I dont think Im going that far. Friends and family but thats about it. NOT 1 pet here. LMAO And thankfully not too many live plants indoors. The womans son comes to water the outside and mow the lawn. :-D Alls good here.. LOL

Art, your new watch is really cool and I like the fact that they made it differently then redoing the "Pepsi" or "Coke". It has it's own identity plus the 24 Hour Hand is Blue...my favorite color.....wear in the best of health!!!

Take care.....Leo

Thank you kindly Judy and all the people here who wrote kind comments in my thread, I really enjoy this place and, of course, our wonderful Coffeeshop.

As for the pictures, it was Wes's idea...I'm just not sure if it was Wes as in "The Joker" or as in "my picture/me"...I'm getting confused...

Carl/Wes Wes/Carl - wouldn't it be cool to have a glass blowing studio? I've always wanted to try it. There is a place like that not far from where we live, and they'll do demonstrations for small groups. The sheer volume of stuff this artist produces is astonishing. The gallery was full of his work - and on a huge scale! My iphone battery was dying so I didn't get many photos, but I'd like to go back and do so, maybe with my digital camera, which seems to take slightly better pics.

Yes that would be cool. Trying to remember if I had a go when younger maybe on a school trip. Perhaps it is dangeous to try, wouldn't want to suck on the pipe instead of blowing into it.

I did visit Murano island, Venice where they are world famous for their glass making, with a history going back to the 13th century. Was very intersting.

Seriously - don't inhale!

Murano Island? Lucky you! I collected Murano and Venetian art glass for a while, but it seemed too bright and cheerful for our dark, gloomy house so I eventually sold all but a piece or two of it.

Glass blowing studio eh? That sounds like a lot of fun indeed...especially if you add a jewelry/watchmaking section to it!
