It's always something to see the little one's that maybe it's their first time or two, that have that wide eyed look about them. We had so many kids again this year. The streets were lined with cars. The city police cruise the neighborhood and hand out glow sticks.

Awakened by a tiny earthquake - the fun kind - and it's off to another volleyball tournament - last event of the season. Have a good day, coffeeshop!

Sitting here in the bleachers, an afterthought occurs... The tiny earthquake that woke me was the geological kind. Felt clarification might be necessary.
Girls have won both games so far.... |

Lisa, sorry to hear they lost their game but finishing second after playing many games in one day is quite an accomplishment...and of course if she and you had fun that's all that matters.....
We have had a few small earthquakes happen here over the past 20 years but I have slept through them all..... Hey...that's a nice frog/toad blending into that photo Art!!!

Don't be sorry, Leo. The girls were ecstatic! Placing second is wonderful!
Hoping for more earthquakes tonight. They're harmless and very interesting to us Okies. We've had four in the past 24 hours that measured from 3.3 to 3.7 on the Richter Scale. I only noticed the strongest one. The experts are weighing in on why we've had such frequent activity in the past couple years. It's unusual for our area. |

Lisa, I can only imagine what it would be like with having daughters(to raise) or sisters, watching them grow and living in the same home. I only had brothers and everything was and became a competition with winning being the prize. My upbringing in the 60's was all about winning and being Number 1.....sure we were taught sportsmanship but memories are short and either you win or you go home.....
Even for my son he was raised to believe winning was everything. He gravitated to Sports of all kinds and watching TV taught him to be competitive and winning was everything!!! Of course he was not taught these principles by me or his Mom but by the society he was raised in. We always taught him that learning was more important and that the value was in learning and being a good Team player and to have value and feel good about what you were able to contribute. We always raised him to be the best he could be and to be proud of himself. Being a team player was more important then personal gain and to be happy in what you do in life..... I'm happy that Phoebe and her teammates were excited about their play and taking second and I would imagine that Sports is just one facet of her education and life.....

Wow, Gus! That poor car. it looks like a '60s body with '80s grill and tail lights. I understand that Falcons were still produced in other countries after they stopped being available in the US... maybe that's what they looked like.
Funny how there's a chain around the steering wheel - someone might steal that thing?! What's amazing is that a good restorer could make that car look showroom new again. I might give it a go with some touch-up paint.... think that would help? ![]() Thanks for the pic! |
