I totally understand that delays happen, but it is still a little bit concerning how far behind Czapek seems to be, particularly given how many orders they have on their books. If an order scheduled for Summer 2022 is already 6+ months behind schedule, I worry that orders further out on the schedule will be very significantly delayed.

I have ordered limited edition, Quai des Bergues Rainforest Green, back in September 2021. Been emailing them every other month. Delays, Delays, Delays.

And I am dealing directly with Czapek. They should close their books and work on deliveries. Stop taking new orders :)

Luckily, my Antarctique LE, came within 5 months. Whereas it was promised within a month. Received in March 2022 instead of December 2021.

After a long wait of 13 months and several delays I had it in my mailbox this morning. Its a dreary and cold day in Germany. I unboxed it and honestly speaking I was ever so slightly disappointed. After having seen it last november with the 12 indices in blue i went for salmon and double indexes. Proportionwise it seems a bit off and a lot of real estate on the dial. The color cannot be depicted in pictures, it photographs quite a bit better that it really looks in real life. I'm gonna make a decision in the upcoming days but somehow my burning love for Czapek has been extinguished. Right now I got the feeling that I'll opt for being refunded....

If you start wearing it, it will grow on you. You start noticing the nuances of the design etc... I kind of felt the same at first glance

My original production date was May of 2023. I have no idea when that might happen. I've been told this is too far ahead to predict if May will hold firm.

I suspect it will slip - but probably by a few months rather than years. My build date is Jan 23 and no news or request for final payment yet.

Very nice snapshot. And it does not show any underlying buzz. So I guess you captured it before the Tequila shots 😀

Nahh you can't be serious ;)
But the 116619LB has grown on me, now I have a hard time with those tin cans. As I have never tried a 5711 IDK .. I think that's still the king of sports watches....
Ever since I went PM first time with a DD36, then DD40 and now the 619LB I cannot imagine to go back.... but maybe it's just a phase on my watch journey

I have several Patek, Rolex, and a few others... If I had to have ONE watch and only one it would be a gold sub. The everyday, tank, legible, PM watch. :)

After a long wait, and still more waiting to do, I'm prepared for the worst, and hoping for the best.

That's sort of what happens, I guess, when you deal with high anticipation with a long lead time. The excitement of immediacy is missing.

Meanwhile, you see the Moser you want go by...the Patek go by...the Vacheron go by...the Lange go by...and you can't help but wonder if it's worth it.

I hope the answer will be yes.

I really absolutely love the SHX5 movement but I guess the proportions of the stick indexes and the void on the dial somewhat spoil the other side of the watch. Czapek is a company which improves steadily and I guess the 38mm variant might have better proportions. To me the dial with the 12 marker is better because the indexes are more centered towards the middle. I guess for me it's the double indices which spoil the watch.

I didn’t want to mention but, since you just did it … yes, also for my tastes the 12 dial is better proportioned with the indexes more centered. Also, that cut index at 6 does not convince me. With the 12 dial it is not present because the more centered indexes allow to preserve circular symmetries without the need of a half index below date.

Yep and the 12 is also ruining the picture as a whole. It should be like the placement with the 12 but without the 12 ;)
For my taste Czapek makes to many LEs and steady changes to the design,.. different dial patterns, first plain, then stripes, then stairway to eternity and so on. I mean how to make a timeless classic since you adjust one or a another screw every other month? They're on the same way like AP, I guess Czapek is 90% Antarcticque now...

Thanks so much for your help, Mike. If the Antarctique is as good as Czapek's customer service, then I'm in for a real treat.

I am in a similar boat. Gorgeous movement, I like both the case and the bracelet, but somehow the dials bother me including the dial pattern, the markers, 12 or not, and the 6 o'clock date (much prefer a 3 o'clock date).

That said, enjoythemusic has the version I like best except for some no-date limited editions.

I totally agree. I mean, I believe Antarctique is a great watch, it is stunning inside and outside for me, but too many LE, variations, etc. To set an iconic watch, in my personal view it should be a milestone over the years … stable … slow … it should be the real opposite of fashion … it should not fast proliferate in colors and dials …
But … having told this … I still love it!

Meaning that only one should remain out of the two? The sub is a solid, established and evergreen icon in the watch universe, the Antarctique is a much fresher solution with surely finer finitures inside and outside.
But, useless to say, these are choices driven by heart so … let us know what yours eventually suggests to you … and it will be your perfect choice!

There are probably a million blue WG subs out there, but only 99 of your Antarctique. Choose wisely.

I parted with it. I tried to love it but somehow I was unable to...
Funnily enough my SA told me the prices have risen to 26k lately and maybe it's just me but I agree with others here on this topic.... to me it's a 15k watch competing against the likes as Octo finissimo or GP laureato. Nothing more, nothing less. I think even 22k is hard to justify if you compare it to the usual suspects (royal oak, overseas)

What I still want to add is that 30 antarctique are on chrono as of now. I think that's an unhealthy ratio given how few of them are in circulation right now. I guess no more than 300 pieces built

That’s a shame that you didn’t like it, but I have to ask did you remove the plastic, set the date/time, wear it at all?

You’re right, UK price is now £22700 that’s up from 18k in Dec 21.

I get it. If you don't love it, no reason to keep a watch in this price range.

However, I also wouldn't read too much into the listings on Chrono. There are flippers everywhere, and you can't make the assumption these are all unhappy previous owners.

AND, I'd get a Czapek over an AP/RO any day. Does AP make anything else?

Just kidding.

Where are you able to see an updated price? It looks like the price on Czapek’s site of CHF 19.5k excluding VAT is unchanged.

Happy to show you our updated Antarctique bracelet.

There is no longer a friction or push pin and collar system.

There is now a pin which can only go in one direction, and a single screw holding that pin into place.

The appropriate screwdriver is included in the Antarctique box. The 3d printed bracelet sizer is no longer included.
