Bye all..have a great Sunday. Im off to go hang out with the kids. Hope they are in a good mood or else taking them out is going to be challenging. My nephew likes to go to the bookstore. He'll stay put but his 22 month old sister will cause me some grief. LOL

It was ok, I was expecting something amazing, what with all the reviews. Sometimes I have to see a film a second time to realise I really like a movie. Think Leo liked it.

I can confirm I did wear my Omega Speedmaster Professional to the showing, the only watch qualified by NASA for Extra-vehicular activity. A very appropriate watch to wear when viewing such a film. Thought this was an important detail.

Minecraft is a video game isn't it? I don't play videos and thankfully my niece and nephew are too young. LOL

In reality, we are a pretty inactive bunch, Judy! Volleyball was Phoebe's only thing. She's taken various lessons for different things in the past, but only one thing at a time. And my middle girl did girl scouts for a few years, but not this year. We are definitely not overbooked... something I feel a little guilty about, in fact. Phoebe has, though, taken on a strong interest in playing guitar and ukulele over the past year, and she's learning quite fast how to play. My husband's pretty happy about that, and he sits down with her to help her learn. So that's a good thing.

Sounds like fun! Glad he loved the Daytona....it's the ultimate to me

Back from the loony bin. Had a great time. The kids had gotten some hand me down books so I didn't have to take them to the book store. We did however play in the backyard. Was SO cold. Its beyond me how little kids NEVER feel the darn cold weather! I finally had to threaten my brother to start the grill cause I needed to hang out where it was warm. LOL And once the food was made, we went inside. Im hyped on espresso coffee. Dumb move cause I shouldn't have coffee after 4p at the latest. Oh well…it was SO worth it.

LOL @ Wes. I wonder how many people who see that movie actually wear a Speedmaster. LOL

Lisa, if the kids aren't doing anything exciting over the winter, how about you? You into tennis or any sport you might get into to stay active for yourself?

Karis..I do like the Daytona. I really only like the white dial, which I already have & I don't want to duplicate what I already have. I did try on 2 older Subs yesterday. One was better than the other and both are much better fitting / looking than the ceramic versions. This is how I see my collection going…I have a white DJ now, ? a black dial Sub, blue dial Breitling Galactic or a Blue dial/white stick markers DJ with oyster/smooth bezel or perhaps a Seamaster Pro 300 in a blue dial. So…I guess you can say I have plans.

Supposed to rain tomorrow. Im off so then... It doesn't matter.

Cool that Phoebe has taken up the guitar. Has she complained about calluses on her fingers yet? They can be painful.

Maybe your other 2 will take an interest in the piano at some point. Never thought it was cool when I took it up, mainly due to the boring music I was given. As I got older especially with the internet, you can pretty much get and play what you want.

I hope they will take an interest, Wes. You're right - so much of instilling the desire is to put music in front of them that they like. And yes, Phoebe has the calluses. I'm thrilled that she likes to play.

Even if the others don't play the piano, I goof around on it nearly every day even though I really SUCK. So it's not completely just a pretty piece of furniture. It is also an instrument of auditory torture for other members of the family.

This is the only interment that I can play,

I picked it up quick actually, some people can't no matter how hard they try. Really not an instrument I guess, but it sounds really cool.

Here Lisa, this is from my first ever piano book. Fairly easy, sounds nice, has a few difficult rhythms. You could get the family round the piano at Christmas for a good old-fashioned sing song.

I think learning musical instruments is fun, unless of course you are 10yrs old and your father forces you to learn the accordion. I wanted to learn the guitar but my dad wouldn't let me because "only boys played it". And signing me up for piano wasn't in the cards cause no money to buy or rent a piano. So NATURALLY the most feminine of alternate instruments was the accordion. :bang head: I put up with the lessons cause it got me out during the week and I hated going to bed. After the initial phase of the lessons was done and I had to move up to the larger accordion from the junior one, I put up a fuss and my dad lost his dream of his daughter becoming the best damn accordion player in Canada. OMG..I was like a trained seal. My father would make me play for all the relatives when they came to visit. I played the clarinet for a few years in grade school band but thats about it. No..I never went to band camp.

Art..how do you play that bowl? Bang the sides of it? Swoosh it around? Ive never seen it. And more importantly, does it calm you down? I might have to you tube it..LOL I need something to chill me out. Mediation doesn't work, the silence just fosters thoughts of what I should be doing instead of trying to numb my head for 15 minutes.

Yes, it's relaxing, the sound is interesting and you can feel the sound. There is a particular way of holding the mallet, and a certain way of posture of the arm when rubbing the mallet around the outer ridge. Going fast doesn't help so the idea is slow and steady. There is a site that demonstrates how do play the bowl, starts with a B. Let me try to find it.

Silly, alcohol takes care of that!

That's too bad about your dad and the dreaded accordion. My mother in law has one from the 1950s and she used to play it at Christmas before her arthritis got too bad. It looks very complicated indeed.

Yes, I like the guys music. He was a wrestler too, like I was. Really from what I've read he was a nice guy. I always felt sorry for him, never got the help he needed. I watch him you tube from time to time.

Had a couple friends who were mad about grunge and Nirvana and wouldn't wash their hair. I preferred Guns and Roses, saw them at Wembley when I was 15.

Art..I just watched the vid.. seems cool. I didn't know there was a female/male tone. How long do you play it? And do you smoke anything while you're doing it? :smoking: I mean, as an aid for deeper relaxation.

You play it as long as you want, time goes fast. No smoke for me, those days are long past.

When you start reading about these bowls, you find that you can buy very, very old one's. They come is different sizes too and the size changes the pitch, you can also put some water in the bowl to change the pitch. The one in my pic is 4inches across the top.

Me, either. Grunge was big when I was a little past the age to appreciate it fully. However, I really like Courtney Love's music - I think she's a little scary but she has immense talent.
