Wow. What a post. Welcome.

I kid you not, that’s a rally I’d come to Europe for.

Experience if a lifetime.

Which car would you choose to drive on it? Which of your two do you prefer?

Wow, nice cars! What color is the Roma? Great picture in the mountains. Car rally is the best way to make memories, I can imagine the mountains and the way the cars echo through there....what a dream.

The Porsches are fantastic!

I went totally the other direction on cars. I have a new MBZ GLA45 AMG as my DD and have a 1969 Corvette L46 (350/350, 4-speed) as my weekend fling. I absolutely love the vintage driving experience. I can’t use my cell phone when I’m shifting! That’s a good thing! I’m in our local car club and do weekend car shows and other events.

I’m now wanting to acquire a MBZ 560SL. It was the “cool car” when I was in college, and I’ve always loved the R107 body style. The funny thing is that they have less HP, and were slower (both 0-60 and quarter mile time) than my much older small block Corvette, but of course the MBZ was designed to be a luxury touring car.

How are you classic car guys so patient in acquiring your cars! There are a ton available online, but I put out the word to my “car guys” in LA, who all told me to be patient and wait for the right car. Ideally I’d like a low mileage, single owner car that has been well maintained and has had everything needed done along the way (of which there is a long, expensive list). I know it’s out there! The hunt for the right Corvette took time as well, but they are so mechanically simple and easy to fix. A Chevy 350 engine is a super easy thing to work on.

Car Love Thread

Right…. I finally got rid of my 11 year old Evoque! Bought it brand new back then for £54K. Todays trade-in £7.5K

Traded it in for another Evoque, used, 22 plate, HSE. Was going to get a Macan but the prices are crazy, and I’ve been spending too much of my future pension funds and waiting for an allocation for a 992.2 Turbo S whenever they start taking orders.

Not fully ready to commit to Electric vehicles yet, so I got a PHEV. Lets see how that goes… I’ll prob keep this for another 10 years, batteries allowing 🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣

Congrats! Great pairing of vehicles you all have with the 911 and Range Rover. Looks great.

My father-in-law bought a Carmine Red Targa GTS (991.2) two years ago after owning a 997.2 S Cabrio for many years. His wife, whom he adores, refuses to ride in the drop top because she says the wind messes her hair. So, he bought the Targa hoping he could persuade her to join him on his dream of driving down the California coast. Unfortunately, she said no, citing the hair issue again. Since he wanted a convertible anyway, he just bought another one. The new 911 is a Carmine Red Cabrio GTS (997.1). He kept all three cars, and now his wife is mad because he owns three 911s. Mind you, this is a guy who worked all his life to support his family until he finally sold his business and retired at the age of 75. Apparently, my MIL is also mad at me, because I have been encouraging him and he keeps one of the cars in my garage. Oh well...

Love the story

3 x 911s! Wow! Hope you get the benefit of using the one in your garage!

Verde British. I absolutely love cars in green. The 911 is the only non-green car I’ve had in years!

About half of our participants are from the US and come back each year. It’s only a hobby of mine, but we love organising it. Priceless memories!

Which car would I choose to drive on it? I’m cheating and taking both. The GT3 will be more fun for the Swiss mountain passes, whilst the Roma is a more relaxing drive through Burgundy and Champagne.

Which is my favourite? The GT3 is more visceral, especially being a manual. The Roma is much more of an autobahn cruiser, so it really depends on the occasion. If I had to get rid of one, it would probably be the Roma, simply for the emotion that the GT3 brings.

Couple of shots of my 90s cars.
Love the torque and ease of building speed with the Lexus, hit 281km/h (on the gps) on the autobahn and it still felt stable, incredible performance for a 25 year old car.

It's fine, there's a perfect stretch of 4 lane autobahn here near Cologne, dead straight and smooth like a pool table.

Brakes + pads are less than 6 months old and the Michelin primacy tires too. It was also very quiet on the road so perfectly safe (and legal!).

I must admit it is very very fast though, and I don't think I'll do that speed again anytime soon.

I booked a weekend ticket for the Austrian F1 GP this year, ill be taking this car there, cruising at 150-200km/h is very comfortable and a lot of people drive that speed in Germany and are used to anticipating others' driving fast too.

The best drivers on the planet there. A reason why you have those roads and the drivers totally respect the rules. I think I read there are less deaths per kilometer on the autobahn than any other highway in the world. You’re so fortunate to have that at your doorstep!

It's definitely very nice that we can enjoy that here
Also lucky that I live within an hour of both Spa Francorchamps and the Nürburgring
