I called some greys around here and same thing. " not buying those right now " and also not consigning either.

2023 will be an interesting year for watch buyers.
This makes sense because market was going up and the manufacturers increased production. They made changes to the production that cannot be just turned off overnight. This will just add to the oversupply and next year will definitely be interesting.

Let’s hope this comes true. I’d love to see things return to windows, or just a chance to buy at MSRP without playing games.

Don’t agree. Any manufacturer can adjust production to respond to demand changes if they wish. Easy to cut, harder to increase (equipment, people).

Such a sad response.

I've seen more and more of these kind of comments online. I thought most of us were here because we like watches, we like Rolex, ... but now it became a pissing contest. Who has the most money and your watch represents that.

I’m just guessing.. imagine the company have been preparing over the past 3yrs to increase production trying to meet demand but not long after these new production capacity comes into play, the secondary market demand fell greatly.. oops!

Blue 15500 fullset used for $42.5k. Sitting. There really is no bottom here.

Speaking of 15500s, did anyone on MODA see if Dana Swiss Watches posted a brand new 15500? If so, please let me know.

don’t agree. can’t just switch off suppliers, machines or qualified employees in switzerland. if it’s true that they have increased output, they can’t just press a red button.

I walked past the Vintage Watch Company in Burlington Arcade today and they had these giant 30% off signs like some sort of tawdry Going Out of Business sale.

Plenty of tourists were ogling and taking photos of the watches though.

They've had them up for about 10 years haha. As long as I can remember!
They price their pieces at about 50% above market value then knock 20% off.

While PM is showing up discounted from msrp, SS is still at or above retail (even for less popular references). I think we have a lot more slope to slide down.

I think we have just seen the beginning of the downturn. The rise in interest rates isn't finished, and it's effects haven't been felt yet fully by the economy. I would say that the entire 2023 year will be downward pressure, including watches, so I would say the prices will continue to go down.
