Same here, some ice from yesterday that melted off today. I'm hoping if more stuff if moving in, it's the fluffy stuff instead of the slick stuff!

I think the Farmers' Almanac is right more than it's wrong, sometimes unfortunately.

Yes Lisa, they bolted the transmitters to their skulls, and turned them into Killer-Cyber-Seals. You can send them targets with you mobile, and when you do their eyes turn red.

Not me Carl, think I would look funny with a tash. Have never grown one. Happy to donate though

If you are, think we are gonna need a pic.

We have some new upmarket teabags in our tea room at work. Yorkshire Gold. It's got a good colour, and is a fairly strong, smooth taste, highly recommended. Just thought I'd share the highlight of my day.

Have a good week everybody.

Thanks for that, Wes. Probably impossible to find here, but sometimes it's pleasantly surprising what shows up on our store shelves.

I'm thinking about making a silly and completely unnecessary purchase soon... a violin! I had one from when I was a kid but sold it 15 years ago - a decision I regret. I remember it cost my parents $200 in 1976 so I think it was a pretty good instrument, but I sold it for $50 in the late '90s. Looking online, prices aren't bad, but there's a neat old violin shop not far from me that I went to as a child. It will be fun to have a look around.

Violins are great instruments, we have one on the wall in the living room above the piano.

I did violin for about 2 years before piano. Didn't really enjoy it, but I was probably too young. Think it was a loner from a music school, that we probably should of gave back. Don't know what happened to it, maybe got lost or thrown out when my parents moved. I'll ask them.

Keep a look out for any lost Stradivarius

I just read last night there's about 600 of them floating around. Bas, maybe you need to check your wall model.

I played for about 4 years when it was offered in school. Did private lessons for a while, too. I can still read the notes and remember the finger positions. I wasn't ever very good. Another instance of wishing I'd done more with it.

It's not a stradivarius, it would be cool to have one on the wall though, I don't think I'd sell it.

Well Lisa, there is one up for auction next Month.

Min-Jin Kym had a Stradivarius violin stolen in 2010 in a London train station, she was in Pret-a-Manger buying a cheese and pickle sandwich, and was stolen under her nose. The guy that stole it didn't know what it was and tried to sell it for £100. Anyway it turned up unscathed this year, and will be auctioned, price expected £2m.

It's not clear whether she owned it or whether it was loaned. It might now belong to the insurers who paid out. She went on to buy another one.

I gave up tonight...

I decided to put the heat on...

I had put it down to 14 degrees Celsius over the Summer as I didn't need it and didn't bring it up until tonight, it's quite surprising (in a very bad way) the difference it would make to get out of bed.

Good grief! Getting out of bed would be bad enough... but I really shudder (and shiver) to think about getting out of the shower!

That too and if you remember correctly last year I had to struggle with a few ice cold showers that really didn't help me appreciate Winter...

I priced some violins at that little shop today. Sticker shock! A very basic instrument is around $1,000. That's quite a bit more than a nice guitar. I was expecting the price to be half of that. There might be other bargains out there... ebay and Craig's list... but I'd feel sheepish taking them to this shop for service/repair... they'd know I decided not to purchase from them.

Carl… Im Canadian but I think Im a big wuss. Heats been on here for a few wks now. Found some thin Fleece sheets I think Im going to go get. If that doesn't make your a$$ hot, I don't know what will. I think they're a notch hotter than flannel. With my duvet on as well..either Im going to sweat some weight off or no one will find me under all those layers till its too late.

The Violin has always been an instrument I admire but had never had a desire to play. Maybe because I lacked confidence. Once you've mastered the accordion, theres nothing to strive for. Lisa, will you take formal lessons again?

Wes…great to see your avatar back. :-)

Judy, the older I get the more I detest the cold. I just can't get warm... go through the entire winter feeling cold to the bone... unless I'm in my cozy bed.

I think my attraction to the violin is because I had that one for so long and stupidly sold it. SO sorry I did that. And now that my oldest daughter is getting interested in playing music (she plinks around on mandolin, guitar and ukulele), it might be one more thing for her to learn about. Even if she doesn't care about it, I do. I got the bug for a piano a few years ago - even though I could barely play and no one else in the family does. I bought one and never regretted it. And I'm a somewhat better player than I used to be... at least it gets a fair amount of use. I goof around on it almost every day. So, if I did eventually get a violin, it would get some use.

The accordion seems really difficult to play! Do you still have one?

Lisa…oh no…as soon as I could turn that thing I gave it up.. I think I threatened my father to not even THINK about signing me up for more lessons! Eventually in high school I found the clarinet and played that for about 3 yrs. It was a nice instrument. :-) Thats about the end of my musical career. I swear in the shower I sound like like an angel. LMAO In truth I probably make the pipes squeak..LOL

Lisa…try Fleece sheets…I don't know if hubby is hot natured, but maybe put em on the spare bed then conveniently find yourself sleeping there during the winter. LOL The other option is to buy fleece pillow cases and leave the sheets the same cotton brand they are. ;-)

My mom started taking violin lessons about 3 years ago. She's done pretty well to have been pretty non-musical all her life. (not just her, no one in my family is very musically talented at ALL) Its kind of a new little Christmas tradition that she plays us a different song she had learned every year now. We tease her and call it a fiddle. hehe. I told her I'm gonna learn the banjo and we are going to have an all girl Bluegrass band.

Pickles and cheese, two things that obviously contain all the nutrients one needs in a day...

Speaking of which, I ate like a real ogre this morning...cereals, eggs, peanut butter toasts, tangerine, banana...goodness gracious!
