Found this one... I might be confusing this ad with the Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer stop-motion animation.

Rock on.

Hey, are you getting ready for the big sleet storm? I haven't given it too much thought, but it was just upgraded to a winter storm advisory... 2 to 4 inches of sleet in the metro area possible. Meh, who knows... but I did make sure we have enough milk and chicken feed.

Looks nice, Lisa. I just picked one up and have it outside now. It's not my favorite thing in the world to do actually

I don't mind it, and it's a good thing, otherwise the decorations would never go up. Hubby doesn't do decorations, but he will grudgingly help get a box down if I ask. But I don't usually ask.

Do you put up a real tree?

Well, I'm getting some stuff down now, it's hot in the attic, it's hot outside. My favorite thing about Christmas, Lisa is Jan 6th when it all comes down.

Yes, a real one. Usually get a larger one, 10 to 12', this year smaller, 8' I think it was. Easier for me to handle. $39.95 plus tax at Home Depot.

Great deal. Maybe next year we'll do a live tree. They do get messy with the dropping needles, but I don't think the girls remember ever having one. It's been a while.

PS - you're sounding like ole' Scrooge, Art! Bah, humbug!

Oh I know, I like a real tree though, never had an artificial one. This one smells nice, have the sap all over me. My floors are all hard so it's easy to sweep the needles up. The last few years the cost has been lower on them, I can remember some years them being around $100.

Vintage Tudor - yessss. I've always loved the old California dial. As for max size, I don't mind a 40mm for fun, to wear on occasion (my Tudor chronograph and Explorer II were quite comfortable) but wouldn't be likely to wear them as much as my 36mm ones. And I'm quite pleasantly surprised about the Ball Lady Conductor size - the thick tank style case looks just fine on my wrist, and it's something like 28mm by 38mm.
Thank you Lisa.

California dial, I had forgotten how it was called but I always keep an eye opened for one of these indeed! I love them!

Regarding the size of your watches, it seems like we may have similar tastes. As for your Explorer, I can fully understand! Long story short, I sold a gold bracelet of mine about a year ago to a young man I met at a restaurant. The guy (very polite and nice) walked towards me and the first thing I noticed was his Exp-II (the older reference with the red 24h hand). I complimented him on it and he was very surprised I even recognized the watch from that far, he was quite a few feet from me.

When he took a look at the bracelet, he tried to negociate a bit more on the price we agreed on. Usually I refuse last minute bargains but he was a very nice gentleman so I told him I'd accept on one condition...that he let me try his watch! He started to laugh and took it off, it was very comfortable and it looked great!

Thank you for the good words on my chronographs, I quite like them.

Your way of judging a watch's size is quite good, I usually make sure that the lugs aren't longer than my wrist's diameter.

I listened to that jingle…how old fashioned. But comforting compared to todays techno advertising. :-)

Carl, none of the watches you think look big, look big. They absolutely look fine. But then, you are the eyes that need to critique it the most so its your choice ultimately isn't it. LOL

Wes, all your watches look good. ;-) No need to even give it a 2nd thought.

Art.. that tree doesn't stay up long. LOL You should buy the fake one thats already strung with lights and has the decorations on it. You open them up like an umbrella and just stack..fluff the branches…and voila. :-D LOL

Lisa..one of your eggs laid a pastel green egg? Is it a special hen or has she been eating her spinach? LOL

Lisa, the tree, your fireplace and the chair, look very cozy and inviting. I can see sipping on an Amaretto on ice right about there and right about now. LOL
Are you looking to get the Black Bay for yourself? Or at least try it out?

What are your general plans of the holidays? You flying out? Visitors flying in? Have you done all your shopping already and started packing it yet?

Im heading to my brothers on Dec. 24th as we celebrate it that day… Im off the 25th but not sure if Im going to work or not. If a co-worker wants it off I can. I won't be doing much since I would have already celebrated with my family. Im supposed to work New Years….its the way it goes with hospital shift work.

I have my units Christmas party this Friday night. Its a swanky event at an Italian hall. I need to dress up. Will be nicer than wearing scrubs to a work even. LOL ** fingers crossed no snow ** I have some sexy but high stilettos. I am not that graceful with inclement weather. LOL

Thanks, Judy. There's a squishy, beat-up leather couch at the lower left that you can't really see in the pic. That's where I hang out... with a bottle of Mike's or a nice cold beer.

My husband likes the Black Bay... we kick around the idea of getting one, but there's always more pressing stuff to spend our money on. I think eventually he'll get one. If it were smaller, I'd strongly consider one for myself. But 41mm is pushing it. I've yet to see one in person.

The green egg came from our "Easter Egger" hen. EEs are known to lay eggs that are greenish, blue, tan, khaki, pink or olive. It's been fun to wait and see what color hers would be. She'll stick to the one color. I think blue eggs would have been really something, but Easter Eggers who lay blue eggs are kind of rare.

Judy, have fun at your party Friday. Hope the weather cooperates so you won't end up wearing a cast instead of those stilettos!

We're not going anywhere for Christmas... inlaws live here. My sister will stay in the Houston area... she likes to be at her church for Christmas. I used to do a Christmas Eve dinner for the inlaws but it was really too much to do that and all of the Santa things in one night. A nice dinner at home with just the five of us on Christmas Eve will be just fine.

Nothing fancy for Christmas here either, just the regular family parties and enjoying some quality time with my relatives and my friends.

I don't usually do big things for Christmas, I just enjoy the good mood of everybody.

That's my idea of a Christmas Eve, nice, quiet and at home. When the kids were young we ran all over town visiting relatives. I always found it stressful.

Daughter texted me this email she got

from one of her professors. She has always been a hard worker. When home over Thanksgiving if she wasn't sleeping she was studying.

You must be so proud Art, I know I would be!

That's exactly how it was with us... finally we all agreed it just was too rough on our family, so we tried having the dinner at our place and inviting everyone over. That wasn't ideal, either... live and learn.

That's great Art, hard work will get you far in life Er, not that I would know, just something I heard

Judy, I'm just going round my parents for a quiet xmas. I normally head round my brothers, where I spend all day setting up/building/making toys my nephews get. But this year they are off to Oz for xmas and new year. So as much I as love em, I can have a xmas off, and maybe have a few drinks with my Dad in the pub then dinner then sleep.

Company xmas party tonight for me, hopefully will be fun. Have a good day all.

Art, thats fantastic news. Your daughter sounds like a remarkable young lady. :-)

Wes, have fun at that party. After you have that beer for Lisa can you have a gin and tonic for me? LOL Your Christmas plans sound relaxing. And seems like you have a great relationship with your father. Not a lot of sons just hang out with their father.

Christmas in our house was always quiet. I have a ton of 1st cousins but when they started getting married and having kids, was too much of a crowd to get together in 1 house. So we started just doing our own thing and visiting the relatives during the week between Christmas and New Years. And until Marcus came along 4 yrs ago, was VERY quiet. Now that Madelyne is 2 and Marcus 4, its not quiet any longer. We have 6 adults, 3 under the age of 50 and 3 over the age of 70 and 2 kids. So..maybe 4 out of the 6 take a nap in the afternoon.

Lisa, interesting about the Easter egg chicken. When do you get your new ring? I think it will look just as lovely in white metal as it does in yellow.

Wellllllll…… I did something I wasn't on planning doing for at least a year but I did it now because a great opportunity presented itself. I got another watch. My master plan was to have 2 Rolex in my collection, & since the biggest I thought of going was the DJ 36mm, I thought I would do 1 with fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet (which I have) & one with smooth bezel, oyster bracelet. I didn't end up with another DJ.

I ended up with a Submariner 14060M. Well..I think its an M…the hang tag says M, the warranty card has no M. Its a G serial. So..how did this all come to be.. I have always LOVED diver style watches. And, Ive always wanted a Sub…even before my DJ, I wanted a diver. I had tried on the Sub C but lugs were huge and was too heavy, I gave up on that idea. So back in October I visited a shop downtown just to browse and by fluke tried on an older Sea Dweller with the thinner lugs. It was pretty thick but fit pretty good otherwise. I was excited. I found a lot of info about older subs/thinner lugs. Hence, my journey started again. I met up with a few guys from TRF a few wks ago at an AD to try on watches. Initially I wanted the the date version. But when I tried both on together, I found the one with no date fit a bit thinner and was more comfortable. I do actually agree with all those that have a 14060, that the dial is visually more appealing without the cyclops. I will just look at my phone for the date. LOL I will need to get used to, Im so used to the date being on my watch. I bought it from Sohail, a TRF seller..watch was only a month old and have 23 mths left on warranty, which is nice. I was able to find it at a great price and much cheaper than a lot of older serials. I was looking for the latest version I could find. I feel a bit guilty I have 2 already so close in time but I didn't want to pass this up. I found 3 new ones in Toronto but the AD's were not willing to budge re:price and well…saving any money is good, saving a significant amount is better. ;-)

I will post a couple quick pics. I had Sohail take out a couple links which I needed, but is just a tad tight. I need to readjust from the clasp part and should be fine. I also want to take it by a Rolex AD just to have them check it. I think the sellers on TRF are upstanding, I just need validation it really is ok. Sohail was very pleasant to talk to, forthcoming with information, even held on to the watch for a few weeks for me until I was ready to trek down to pick it up. I would absolutely do business with him again. Mind you, 2 Rolex in a 5 month span is A LOT. Besides, my grail is the Submariner. I have a white dial watch and a Sub…I'm in watch heaven. LOL I'll post an Incoming thread shortly. PS..ignore the dry scaly hands and yes, I need a manicure/nails done which I am doing tomorrow before my party. LOL
